Once upon a time, Rusty had somehow ended up at a building related to the whole ICRS thing. And now, as a child, Hoss was trying to find his way back.
He was stable in his childish body, but he couldn't help but want more now. He could walk and talk, his initial rage had cooled. He wanted to learn how to use this new male body a bit better.
Hoss wanted to be strong. He wanted to have power again, to be something that was feared. He wanted control. He still remembered Kian, that giant bear of a man. Perhaps Kian would be willing to teach him some of his badassary.
This whole event might've gone smoother if Rusty had remembered where the building had been located, or if Hoss himself had remembered. As it were, Hoss was sitting in a local eatery, sipping a drink and attempting to remember.

Luckily for little Hoss, Kian had landed himself in the front yard of the ICRS Unit. DDR was up and walking, her doll clenched tight in one small skinny hand, a bright orange skirt fluttering around her knees. It would be hard to miss the bright green and blue and orange against the grass and mulch. Even harder to miss the wide black mass of a man in loose gray cotton pants who seemed to be doing his damnedest to beat the living hell out of an invisible enemy.
Like many ICRS children, Kian adapted to the new body and the negative things that came with it. In his case? Short, stocky, tail. Spikes. Poor Hoss got stuck with a p***s. (Kian had fought to keep his in his past life so that didn't really register as 'negative' to him.)
Bright purple and Scottish in his eyebrows, it didn't take much for Kian to notice the young man wandering around. He paused, staff in hand and feet braced against the warm ground. DDR faltered as well, big green eyes turning in the same direction as her uncle and Comrade. Both remained silent.

The p***s wasn't unfortunate; more ironic, since Jasper's father had wanted a son. It certainly didn't bother Hoss any. It was getting used to a younger body again, and those rakehands. His guardian was all too happy that Hoss was past the stage when they had to be blunted.
And once Hoss had found the right place, Kian wasn't hard to spot. He was large, black, and looked as if he could take down a small rhino. Hoss walked towards them both, giving the green eyed child a nod.
"Kian, unless my memory is serving me wrong?" Hoss said, glad that his vocal cords were developed enough that he could actually speak this time. He'd began to pick up a bit of Rusty's southern accent, though thankfully none of the poor man's speech impediment.

DDR narrowed her eyes at the sound of her uncles name, that doll clutched tighter to her near concave chest. Thin features pinched together. Kian had no such reserves: he gave a brief nod of recognition and put the staff down to the grass ever so gingerly. He did not make Hoss come all the way to him, moved over to the young man himself.
"You are larger," said Kian, any sense of humor or irony to his voice absent. A pause and Kian's eyes squinted in what could have been considered a ghost of a smile. "I can still shake you. Will. You are - Hoss. Yes?"

Hoss nodded, giving a very simple: "Yep." in reply. He extended one three-clawed hand towards the stocky man to shake. "Betcha can still shake me. I may be big, but you're bigger."
The purple skinned youth gave a nod towards the little one on the ground. "And... Dee? Can't rightly remember. You, for some reason, made the impression on my soft baby brain."
Gee, wonder why? Scaring the guardian, shaking the baby.

DDR stuck her sharp little chin out, eyes still narrow bright spots on her dark face. This was the manly silly thing but - she looked up to her uncle, his relaxed stance and outstretched hand. DDR heaved a sigh and slowly let the grip on her doll go, the cloth bit limp in her grasp.
"Pretty face," she said finally, smiling to reveal too sharp teeth. Tight and pinched features were hardly something to consider beautiful, especially with a large nose, near nonexistant lips, and no hair but at least she still remembered how to joke. "You think nice."
If toddlers could leer, she would have done it. As it were, DDR simply drew herself to her full height, lips pursed in contemplation. Kian took it as approval from the girl and shook Hoss' outstretched clawed hand.
"She is sweet," he said, ignoring Dee's tight lipped hiss, "If given juice and soft words. You have seen our Headquarters?"

Hoss smiled at the sharp faced girl. She had a bit of an attitude, a bit of something that made her real. He did like that. "Y'seem smart," He told Dee, "Which makes ya good." Pretty faces and bodies were good for selling, but he did prefer to spend time with people who had thoughts between their heads and closed legs.
"Was here a long time ago," He mentioned to Kian, shrugging. "When ya shook me fer snarlin'." He grinned a bit. Hoss had 'gotten over' that little phase, with deciding to care for his guardian and all. "Thought I might find ya here. Glad I did."

The razor edged smile didn't fade with Hoss' compliment. If anything, it widened, her eyes all but disappeared under the pleased squint. Smarts were all well and good but when you were ugly, people were too scared to make deals. She would've preferred to be cute.
Ah well. At least the purple man realized her intelligence.
"Oh?" Kian cocked his head to the side, all three eyes studying Hoss. DDR harrumphed at her uncles scrutiny, looking from one man to the other. "Why are you looking for me?"

Hoss gave a one shouldered shrug, sticking his hands into very patched pockets. "Wanna learn how t'take care of myself." He said, nodding towards the staff Kian had been using. "Still getting used to this body. Moves different, yenno?"
His lips pressed into a firm line. "Still weak. I know this body's still small, but I feel weak, and I hate that." Weakness was one of many enemies. You didn't get respect when you were weak. The only thing weak men got was death. "Thought you'd be someone good t'ask about that."

"Tsu knows guns. I do not," Kian instantly equated protecting oneself to Autsu and what it was his Ally practiced. Wasn't that Autsu's job - protecting people? Kian taught, yes, but swimming. He stretched slowly, the tip of his tail giving a flick. "What were you thinking of?"
DDR poked at Hoss' leg although not as hard as her frame could muster. When Kian refused to look at her, she huffed up at Hoss, eyes rolling up in a vision of frustration.
" 'Cle short, fat. Strong," Another poke, looking over to Kian. She knew how to communicate much better at her age than the first alien had. Then again, he also resisted any and all attempts to assimilate - DDR embraced the Gaian lifestyle. "Boss-man."
Kian bared his teeth and grabbed the young thing, tucking her unresisting small body under his arm. Instead, he just looked to Hoss for a response.

Hoss made a face. Guns, he knew. That was more practicing to get your eye in on the pieces.
"I remember how t'use guns." He mentioned, rubbing his chin. "Was thinkin' more on something... Yenno, a little closer quarters. Shootin's something I could teach myself."
'Teach me how to kick a** like I assume you do' didn't have nearly the nice ring to it that Hoss was trying to impart.
"Mmhm," He nodded at Dee. "I know he's strong. S'why I'm askin' him. I remember that he's strong. Got a presence about him."

Kian rankled over the two children all but ignoring him, putting it off to them being adults at heart (or just giant assholes but that was a question for another day), and instead gave DDR's skinny body a squeeze. She squeaked.
"I know hand to hand and staff. I do not play softly," Dee grumbled out her agreement, hands going to her uncles arm. She tugged a few times, falling limp again once the fight came to nothing. "If you wish to learn, that is what the Unit is for. I have time to show you."
"Can use big stick too," DDR made the typical 'fwoosh' noise of a Jedi sword, miming holding one and waving it back and forth. Kian ignored her antics, all three eyes trained onto Hoss.

Hoss nodded and smiled. That'd be a start. Stickfighting could be useful. "Don't expect punches t'be pulled." Hoss said, looking up at him. Three yellow eyes. Gaia was a ******** of oddities. How odd that he was getting used to it.
"Won't learn a thing if you take it easy." He gave a firm nod of his head. "Jes don't kill me an' we'll be fine."
