The Chakra System
Last Updated: May 5th, 2011 (by Cobra_X)
Update Log: 1. February 17th, Adopted the new system. 2. February 18th, Added Curse Mark and Bijuu modifiers. 3. February 19th, Added Bloodline modifiers. 4. February 19th, Added Bloodline modifiers - (Uchiha and Hyuuga). 5. May 5th, 2011 - Revamped wording, Included Low/Medium/High Chakra values
Rules:
1) After reading this sign name in a post stating you read the battle system.
2) In general, ninja of lower rank and young age cannot beat those who are older or of higher ranks. Older ninja have more Chakra as they have trained more, unless certain circumstances are in place. Higher ranked ninja have more, or slightly more chakra since they have trained more (which is why they are of higher rank and stronger than the lower ranks in the first place).
Basically, this system is being set in place to provide realism to the number of jutsu a ninja can used based off of what we know from the Naruto series. A Genin, in general, simply does not have the same chakra capacity of a Chuunin, and is at a FRACTION of the power of a Kage. If a Genin has more experienced role playing skill, he or she can still beat a Kage, but for realism within the genre, we are limiting the number of techniques a Genin can use before they deplete their chakra reserves, as well as doing the same for all the ranks.
3) Our system is points based. Every rank will have a certain number of 'Chakra Points' available to them at their rank per day. Every technique will have a set cost, and when your RPC uses a technique, the cost of the technique will be subtracted from your total 'Chakra Points' for the day, limiting the number of jutsu you can use for the rest of the day.
4) Certain aspects of an RPC's Bloodline/Profession/etc... may affect how much chakra they have to use, or how much chakra is used when performing certain techniques, so take note and check the modifiers in the following sections to see if your RPC is affected. The same varying effects apply to certain Curse Marks and of course, Bijuu Hosts as well.
Base Chakra = No bonuses to chakra pool Low Chakra = (Great Chakra Reserves as Tertiary attribute) Medium Chakra = (Great Chakra Reserves as Secondary attribute) High Chakra = (Great Chakra Reserves as Primary attribute)
Jutsu - Point Costs: ( *refer to 'Modifiers' sections for added detail)
Academy Level (E-ranked Techniques) - 2 points
Genin Level (D-ranked Techniques) - 3 points
Chuunin Level (C-ranked Techniques) - 5 points
Special Jounin Level (B-ranked Techniques) - 7 points
Jounin Level (A-ranked Techniques) - 10 points
Sannin/Kage Level (S-ranked Techniques) - 20 points
Ninja Ranks: Total Chakra Points /per day):
Genin: 25 ...(this is the base value, see below for enhanced values.)
Low Chakra: 27 , [Base +1/10 chakra points] Medium Chakra: 31 , [Base +3/10 chakra points] High Chakra: 35 , [Base +5/10 chakra points]
[Example Math: A Genin with medium chakra uses a C-rank technique, followed by 2 D-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 11 chakra points. This leaves the Genin with 20 chakra points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chuunin: 40 ...(this is the base value, see below for enhanced values.)
Low Chakra: 44 , [Base +1/10 chakra points] Medium Chakra: 52 , [Base +3/10 chakra points] High Chakra: 60 , [Base +5/10 chakra points]
[Example Math: A Chuunin with high chakra uses an A-rank technique, followed by 2 C-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 19 chakra points. This leaves the Chuunin with 41 chakra points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Jounin: 60 ...(this is the base value, see below for enhanced values.)
Low Chakra: 66 , [Base +1/10 chakra points] Medium Chakra: 78 , [Base +3/10 chakra points] High Chakra: 90 , [Base +5/10 chakra points]
Special Restrictions: Though not likely, if a Special Jounin were to learn an S-ranked technique, despite the fact that they would have the necessary amount of chakra to use that technique more then once per day, it would overpowered to allow. For balance purposes, they would only be able to use an S-ranked technique once, since such a technique is bound to place enormous stress on the body.
[Example Math: A Special Jounin with medium chakra uses 3 A-rank techniques, followed by 2 B-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 41 chakra points. This leaves the Special Jounin with 37 chakra points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jounin: 85 ...(this is the base value, see below for enhanced values.)
Low Chakra: 93 , [Base +1/10 chakra points] Medium Chakra: 109 , [Base +3/10 chakra points] High Chakra: 125 , [Base +5/10 chakra points]
Special Restrictions: Despite the fact that Jounin have the necessary amount of chakra to use an S-ranked technique multiple times over in a day, it would overpowered to allow. For balance purposes, they would only be able to use an S-ranked technique twice, since such techniques are bound to place enormous stress on the body.
[Example Math: A Jounin with low chakra uses 2 S-rank techniques followed by 2 A-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 58 chakra points. This leaves the Jounin with 27 chakra points to spend for the rest of the day.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sannin/Kage: 120 ...(this is the base value, see below for enhanced values.)
Low Chakra: 132 , [Base +1/10 chakra points] Medium Chakra: 156 , [Base +3/10 chakra points] High Chakra: 180 , [Base +5/10 chakra points]
[Example Math: A Sannin/Kage with high chakra uses 3 S-rank techniques followed by 4 B-rank techniques. The total cost of those techniques together is 88 chakra points. This leaves the Sannin/Kage with 92 chakra points to spend for the rest of the day.]

The Stamina System If you've ever watched Naruto (which I pray most of you have), you've probably noticed that after using a lot of jutsu, or in some cases, simply using a very large or powerful jutsu, people get tired. As I understand it, chakra is not just a force you call on and can expend at will easily. It's a part of someone's body and calling on it over and over in the course of a day can begin to be very taxing to someone. The purpose of the Stamina system is to provide a mechanic which enforces this concept and makes the RP experience closer to the real thing as it is portrayed in the Anime.
Hopefully, this will add an added level of depth to people's RPing, and will enforce the issue of acting "tired" when your character has executed a large amount of chakra, or otherwise depleted their stamina.
Mechanics of the System
Essentially, every RPC in the guild will have set limits of Chakra and Stamina that they can draw from in the course of a day. As you use jutsu, your chakra levels will decrease accordingly... and with this new system in place, so will your stamina. Everyone, at a base level, without any other modifiers will have an amount of Stamina which is equal to your chakra levels. So, as a Genin, with 25 chakra, I would also have 25 stamina. However, if I'm a Genin with High Chakra reserves (primary)... my chakra would be higher then my stamina... (35 chakra / 25 stamina). Likewise, if I didn't have High Chakra, but had 'Endurance', then my stamina would be higher then my chakra... (25 chakra / 40 stamina).
The idea is very simple... using techniques and drawing chakra from your body to create ninjutsu is taxing to your body. Therefore, each ninjutsu (unless otherwise noted in it's description) will require a certain amount of stamina to use, in addition to it's typical chakra cost. Lower level techniques won't require as much, but upper level ninjutsu will become quite taxing on the body when used. Here is a list of how much Stamina a typical ninjutsu requires...
Academy (E-rank): Requires 0 stamina
Genin (D-rank): Requires 2 stamina
Chuunin (C-rank): Requires 3 stamina
Special Jounin (B-rank): Requires 4 stamina
Jounin (A-rank): Requires 7 stamina
Sannin/Kage (S-rank): Requires 15 stamina
Taijutsu of course, being almost entirely based on the more physical aspects of a ninja, will obviously also draw from your stamina when used. Some forms of Taijutsu will also require chakra to use, but such instances will be defined within the individual Taijutsu styles. Typically however, Taijutsu maneuvers will follow the scheme below (which you will notice, is an exact replica of chakra point costs for ninjutsu)...
Academy (E-rank): Requires 2 stamina
Genin (D-rank): Requires 3 stamina
Chuunin (C-rank): Requires 5 stamina
Special Jounin (B-rank): Requires 7 stamina
Jounin (A-rank): Requires 10 stamina
Sannin/Kage (S-rank): Requires 20 stamina
Conversely, Genjutsu, which is more of act of the mind will not require stamina to use. One interesting thing about Genjutsu however, is that if you happen to catch someone in an illusion... if/when the victim breaks free of the Genjutsu, they lose an amount of stamina equal to the rank of the Genjutsu technique which was used. In the mind of the victim, what they saw/experienced was real, and the illusion will have lasting and real effects on the body.
[Examples: Let's say we have a Chuunin level ninja with no stamina/chakra modifiers, giving him a total of 40 chakra points / 40 stamina. In the course of a battle he uses 2 B-rank ninjutsu, a C-rank taijutsu technique, two D-rank ninjutsu, and a D-rank taijutsu. Here is how we would calculate the costs...
2 B-rank ninjutsu cost = 14 chakra and 8 stamina 1 C-rank taijutsu costs = 0 chakra and 5 stamina 1 D-rank ninjutsu costs = 3 chakra and 2 stamina 1 D-rank taijutsu costs = 0 chakra and 3 stamina
...adding this all together, we get a total use of, 17 chakra and 18 stamina. So, this Chuunin now has a remainder of 23 chakra / 22 stamina for the day.
If he was then caught in an B-rank Genjutsu, but after a post, managed to break free of the technique, when he finally broke free of it, his body would suffer from the technique, reducing his stamina by 7 points, putting him at 23 chakra / 15 stamina.
...if the math confuses you, just ask Cobra, Deil, or some other math-qualified person for help, but it shouldn't be that difficult.

Stamina Drain
As the body is drained of it's stamina through the constant use of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Kenjutsu... every shinobi begins to feel the effects and they begin to become fatigued or exhausted. In order to add realism to the system, the concept of 'Stamina Drain' is being implemented so that all RPCs will feel the effects of draining their chakra/stamina just as it is shown in Naruto.
The system is relatively simple...
- When an RPC has only 25% of their rank's BASE stamina remaining on any given day, they suffer a -1 rank reduction to their speed and after any post where a ninjutsu is used, a cooldown post is required before they can use ninjutsu again.
- When an RPC has only 10% of their rank's BASE stamina remaining on any given day, they suffer a -1 rank reduction to their speed, strength, and evasion and after any post where a Nin-, Tai-, or Ken-jutsu is used, a cooldown post is required before they can use a technique again.
...the negative effects of Stamina drain can only be 'healed' by having your RPC get at least 6 hours of rest. (This is achieved by actually posting that your character has slept for a certain amount of time... and it is suggested that you choose where/when you sleep wisely, as you could be jumped if you sleep out in the open in an unprotected area.)

Modifiers: Attributes There are many aspects of a Shinobi including aspects of training, natural talent, genetic advantages, and even unnatural, or supernatural means by which a ninja's abilities are enhanced or affected. Naturally, such differences create varying levels of ability and augment or hinder a ninja's chakra levels. The modifiers mentioned below explain how certain aspects of a character's traits will affect a user's total chakra points, or even how many chakra points are spent when using a technique.
