Aiko sat outside the place where she usually came when it was time for her to practice her music, or acting, or whatever it was her teacher had planned for her that day. However, she was at the moment practicing solo at her own free will. It was a song her teacher had given her to sing and she was still trying to get it right. It was such a pretty song too, called 'Looking for Romance'.
"I bring you song In the hope that you'll see When you're looking at me That I'm looking for love
I'm seeking that glow Only found when you're young and it's May Only found on that wonderful day When all longing is through"
She sang the second and the third verses before pausing. The song was really a duet so she was skipping a few parts. She considered singing all the parts anyway, but it hadn't felt right the first time she tried this. "Hmm... I might of rushed that one part..." She murmured to herself and shook her head. "I need to do better."

Toulouse, on the other hand, had decided to take a day off from his practicing for their mutual mentor. The script that he had been given was less of a booklet than a tome, and he had no idea how he was going to memorize all of the lines it contained! He was no actor! Why on earth did their teacher think otherwise? Maybe he had said something to lead him on... In any case, he was dreading the day of his performance. What was going to happen when he went on stage and made a fool of himself...?
It was while Toulouse was pondering on his own predicament that he walked toward the theater. With his trumpet case danging from his mouth and creaking at the handle, it took him a moment to pick up on the sweet voice that hummed through the air. Yes, that was Aiko... A female for whom he had already developed strong feelings. He perked his ears, and straightened his neck, the beads hanging around his collar rattling noisily as he tried to pick up on the lyrics. She had stopped already, though, and began talking to herself. Toulouse couldn't make out the words, and didn't try. After all, why would he be so rude to the beautiful young lady? He sat the trumpet case out of view so that he could get closer. A smile was placed upon his maw as he approached the entrance where she was standing.
"Hello Aiko! I 'eard your song from a bit down ze road... Is zat something zat you're going to perform?"

Toulouse was here! Aiko turned her head and smiled happily at the other. His voice was music to her ears. Just being near him made her so happy. "Toulouse! You heard all that did you? Oh what a shame, I'm no near good enough at it yet... But I think I might. It's a duet. I'd need someone to sing it with me.." She walked towards the other to meet him half way and gave him a nuzzle. "It's so good to see you..."

"It sounded beautiful to me, mon cheri," he said, returning her nuzzle, causing his mask's dangling ribbons to tickle the nape of her neck. "But you should do nothing until you are ready." He parted from her a bit, his tail waving thoughtfully behind him. "I, uh, suppose zat our teacher would be your partner, zen? I 'ave never 'eard 'im sing..." The white tufts of his ears swooshed quietly through the air as his ears cocked themselves in a crooked, confused manner. No, he really couldn't think of anyone that came around the theater aside from Aiko, himself, and their teacher... Looking down to her with a wide, albeit perplexed, smile, he continued on, "I was beginning to miss you... I suppose we 'ave both been busy with our assignments of late, non?"

"I suppose I will be singing with the teacher... That is...Unless you would like to sing it with me? Even if not in an offical performance I think it would be fun to sing this sort of song with you, even if just once," She replied to his question hopefully. It was a romantic kind of song, the sort she loved. What could be better than singing such a song with someone who really pulled at her heart strings like Toulouse? Aiko casted her eyes down to the ground. "Oui... Yes... we really have been busy..." She agreed with his later comment and frowned. "I really have missed you. Oh so much my dear Toulouse..." She wished that she could be spending more time with him in fact... If only.

Toulouse's face reddened before Aiko even finished her suggestion. He had never actually sung with anyone before; sure, there was the occasional humming while he walked down the street, and the happy birthday song for his crew back in New Orleans. But... That was different. What if he couldn't do it? What if he sounded like a frog, or his accent got in the way? ... For Aiko, it didn't matter. It was nothing compared to what he was willing to do for her. True, he still dreaded looking like an idiot in front of her - not likely for the first time - but he would do it. "Well," he began, lifting one of her forepaws with one of his high enough for him to lick it gently, "Per'aps we could use ze free time we 'ave now... I would be honored to sing with you. I, er, don't know ze song, and will probably sound dreadful, but if you don't mind zat..." He trailed off, a sort of nervous embarassment in his eyes.

Aiko's expression brightened instantly at the other's words. He would sing with her! "Toulouse! You're so sweet! No need to worry about how you sound. This is just for fun after all. I just want to sing with you because you're you. That in itself will make me happy." The female went over to where she was sitting and picked up the sheet music with the lyrics she had placed down. She went back over to Toulouse and sat down next to him, close enough so she could lean comfortably against him if she so wished. "Here, this is the music. I won't make you memorize it like our teacher would, don't worry."

Oh, Aiko. She never failed at comforting him! "Thank you, mon cheri, but you are the sweet one," he said, watching her walk over to where she was before as he sat down on his haunches. At the sight of the lyric page at his feet, he loosened up a bit. "Oh thank goodness," he sighed quietly, feeling as if a small weight had been lifted from his chest. Memorizing was not his forte. This, of course, he had already proven to himself. Looking the words over, he couldn't help but wonder how they were going to keep the right melody, especially since he didn't know it in the first place...

"Hmm..." Aiko looked over the sheet for a moment. "Oh! You haven't heard this song yet have you?" She put a paw to her face and sighed. "How stupid of me. I have a CD player with it. I'll turn it on and you can listen to the song." She went over to the said CD player which was right next to the bench and turned it on. Afterwards she went over to Toulouse's side and leaned into him comfortably while she listened to the song play.

It really was a moving duet. Toulouse couldn't help but stroke the top of her head lightly with his chin as they listened to it together. It was easy to drift into a romantic mood to the melody, and he found himself doing just that. It made him want to dance with Aiko through a field of flowers; to take her into his arms and never let go. It was as if his emotions had been unbridled. Music had that effect on him... It always had. When the song came to an end, the male's confidence in himself had lifted a bit. Even if he was going to sound like an oaf, at least it was with the woman he loved. "It is quite a lovely song, Aiko. Should we try it now?"

"Mm?" Aiko had closed her eyes as she listened to the music. The lovely song and being cuddled up to Toulouse like this had just swept her away."Oh yes! Lets..." she said and smiled up a the other. "I believe you have the first part so whenever you're ready..."

"Alright..." Toulouse let the song play in his head for a moment, allowing the rythm and overall feel to seep back into his mind. When the music in his head reached the proper part, he took a deep breath and began to sing as well as he could manage through his French accent. Trying to imitate the voice in the recording seemed like an odd thing to do with the way he was feeling, and so he sounded quite like himself.
"I bring you a song And I sing as I go For I want you to know Zat I'm looking for romance"

Aiko liked the way he sung it. It didn't sound like the way the recording played out the lyrics but to her it was even better. It was Toulouse's own voice and she prefered it that way.
She then sang the next part, doing her best to sound as best she could. While she did so, she didn't take her eyes off Toulouse. She had most of the song memorized at this point.
"I bring you song In the hope that you'll see When you're looking at me That I'm looking for love "

While he listened to Aiko's sweet voice, he dared to look up at her instead reading ahead on the sheet for his next part. To his surprise, he found a pair of stunning blue eyes fixed upon him, and he nearly jumped. He had expected to catch her singing into the paper like he was, but instead, she was watching him! Of course she had this memorized... How could she not? Toulouse, somewhat flustered, couldn't help but wish that he could gaze back at her as he sang. Even if he wasn't able to, however, he would still give her the best voice that he had. With a smile, he turned back to the paper as her part ended, his volume rising a bit as the tempo picked up,
"I'm seeking that glow Only found when you're young and it's May Only found on that wonderful day When all longing is through"
