Hi Guys.
This is just some reminders for the wonderful people who create guides here in this Guild. They are all loved, but please, just remember a few of these tips...
Check the Guild
Make sure to check the Guild to make sure that there isn't already an existing guide like the one you are going to make. If you think you can make a better guide than an existing one, make it in the Spam Forum first and then contact a Guild Moderator about it.
Add a Title
Simple titles are helpful; just stick something, like "How to Take a Screenshot". Then, immediately people can see exactly what the thread is about.
Reserve Extra Posts
Always post a couple of reserved posts at the end of the thread. This is so if anything extra comes along, there will be room to put it. All you have to do is post "Reserved." once or twice.
Post Credit
You ought to put credit somewhere in your thread, such as where you got a certain code, where the images came from, or if the guide is not completely your own work. It would also be a good idea to give thanks to anyone who helps you attain information, supported you, or helped you update your guide.
Be Detailed
Keep in mind not everyone may have an idea of what you mean or where something is. If it seems like a good idea, add screenshots, links, examples and steps in order to enrich the understanding of the user reading your guide.
Be Clear
Avoid normal posting formats you may have: keep emoticons down to a minimum, avoid bright font colours and keep a watch on small font sizes that may be tough to read. If you have a normal posts style (such as one automatically placed), please turn it off for the main guide posts. Such post styles may make it a challenge for your readers to simply read your guide.
Keep Images Small
Try to keep images small enough so they do not stretch the page. Page stretching is very annoying when trying to read something, and is not allowed by the Gaian Terms of Service.
Categorize Your Guide
In the Contents Sticky, all of the guides are listed by category. Please fill in the form so your guide can be added to the list which will make it easier for a user to find a specific guide that they need help with.
Be Open to Suggestions
If a user suggests something to make your guide better, consider their suggestion. If you do decide to use their suggestion, it would be a good idea to credit them.
Just remember those points, and your guide is sure to be good. Thanks for the people who make this Guild great!
