"Is the time of the first harvest, when the plants of Spring wither and drop their fruits or seeds for our use as well as to ensure future crops. Mystically, so too does the God lose His strength as the Sun rises farther in the South each day and the nights grow longer. The Goddess watches in sorrow and joy as She realizes that the God is dying, and yet lives on inside Her as Her child. Lughnasadh, also known as August Eve, Feast of Bread, Harvest Home and Lammas, wasn't necessarily observed on this day. It originally coinsided with the first reapings. As Summer passes, Witches remember its warmth and bounty in the food we eat. Every meal is an act of attunement with Nature, and we are reminded that nothing in the universe is constant."

For some Pagans, this is the next holiday on their wheel. So if you have any spells, rituals, songs, poems, or recipes to share please do so. I know we have some newer Pagans in this guild and I would like to help them learn and plan out their holidays.

He is said to be the lord of every skill. "Pan-Celtic in origin and is known by numerous nations and in many ways. The (Shining One) Sun God or King, in Ireland - Ioldanach “Master of all Arts", in Wales – Llew the steady hand a great archer. He has been likened to Apollo, Baal and Hercules. A deity of many skills metallurgy, crafting, weaving, scribe, seer, and as a protector of the weak." -http://www.witchinthewood.com/eponalugh.html See also http://www.celticnetwork.com/culture/mythology/lugh.htmlwww.shee-eire.com/magic&mythology/.../lugh/page1.htm www.pantheon.org

I'm one of those people who doesn't think of Lammas and Lughnasadh as the same holiday. I mean, if you're not worshipping Lugh, your holiday can't really be Lughnasadh whee Lammas technically would be a Catholic holiday but I claim it as cultural inheritance, in the same way that Xmas is now a secular as well as religious holiday. I bake if I can. I also celebrate a Heathen festival at the same time of year.
But that's six months away for me.

That sounds like it would be a lot of fun. I need to go buy some honey so I can make some harvest spice mead for the holidays coming up. That's the most planning I have done so far.

I personally celebrate lammas july 31st which is today. I have a lot of things to do. I do not have a coven and my mother does not allow me to do a lot of things like lights candles but I still sub other stuff for most of it. here is all I do for lammas-
Lammas schedule Morning- Lammas chant Noon-leaf ritual (write regrets and farewells on leaves and bury them) Afternoon- pick berries and leaves and decorate altar Evening- Feast (eat a big dinner full of vegetables, fruits and bread) Night-eat bread and pumpkin butter, pick rosemary from the garden and put it in some chamomile tea
