Back to Wonderland
Now most of you all know of Alice and her adventures in Wonderland. How the spirited young blond dreamed of a world of her own where things weren’t as they seemed and many things were quite unusual. Her first encounter with Wonderland made no sense and all she wanted was to get back home. On her second encounter she was older, around eighteen and at that time she was to fulfill her destiny in slaying the Jabberwocky and dethrone the Red Queen. This is another story of her adventures. Alice is back but this time she is twenty-one. She has come back to England after spending time helping her father’s business in China. Being gone for three years she has imagined that her travels to Wonderland were nothing more than a dream. But our dear Alice is about to get a surprise, a surprise she wasn’t expecting for trouble is slowly brewing in Wonderland. Let us now take a peek into this new adventure shall we?
The coach came to a halt in front of the splendid manor. A young woman stepped out, her golden blond hair sparkling in the sunlight. She looked up at the woman walking through the doors to greet her. "Hello Aunt. It’s good to see you again!" Alice said though she always hated being in her company. The woman smirked then grabbed her by the arm and whisked her away inside the manor. "YOUR LATE!" she screamed. "Ugh and even on your birthday too! Come, come child go get dressed." Alice glanced up the stairs to where her bedroom was then rolled her eyes. Her aunt was going to make her wear something hideously stupid again. She ran up and closing the door peaked out the window to the party below. Everyone was there of course drinking tea and eating crumpets and such. Mostly the boring people her aunt knew including those annoying know-it-all twins. "What a bore this is going to be!" Alice said to herself and put on the green plaid dress her Aunt had hung up for her.
After getting ready Alice made her way downstairs and graced herself to the guests. And my how boring the party was. It was so boring that she decided to take a stroll in the garden. She stopped to smell the roses and looking at them closely she had to giggle. Half of them were red and the other white. A memory sparked of her a long time ago painting the roses red for the Red Queen. Thinking of this made her want to go back there. "Oh wouldn't it be nice to do so. I really would love to see my old friends again but no Alice that was just a dream, wonderland isn't real." Just then something caught her eye.
A white rabbit! She looked a bit closer and couldn't believe her eyes when the rabbit held up a pocket watch and pointed to it. "Claude is that you?!" she asked as she followed him to an odd looking tree. "Wait Mr. Rabbit come...whoa!" she yelled as she squeezed herself into the hole and fell. She fell and fell for what seemed like hours till finally she landed in an empty octagon room full of doors. "Oh dear" she said as she got up. "For some reason this seems familiar." Alice began to jiggle the doorknobs of each door.
Meanwhile somewhere in Wonderland, Valerie, the Queen of Diamonds was walking inside her castle, some people passed near to her and bowed. "Your majesty" they said and kept walking. She still wasn't very used to be the Queen of Diamonds, everyone treated her differently. “Even though I have 5 years being the queen of diamonds, I still don't get used to it...” She sighed and continued walking to the throne room.
"It's been a while since I last saw my friend the White queen, when she told me about that Alice girl...Even though I never met her I must say I'm very grateful, after all she saved us from the Jabberwocky" She said talking to herself and the people in the room stared at her. "I'm sorry, just talking to myself again" She laughed a bit and everyone laughed with her.
Elsewhere in Wonderland, James, the mad hatter tapped his fingers quietly on the table. His taps shook the table and tea a bit. He looked around, and in a quiet whisper, he said to himself. "Underland has become dreadfully boring, and without Alice...its as if the fun has been taken straight out of it." James muttered as he moved his hair out of his face. "At least the Red Queen isn't back here anymore ruling us. Those were terrible times...and thank goodness her sister finally sent her away. But I still have a bad feeling...and a good feeling too...." He said as he smiled a bit, then picked up a cup of tea and sipped it. He looked at his friend, Max, the March hare who was being his crazy self throwing cups of tea at nearby trees.
Now while James and Max were drinking their tea, Luka the Cheshire cat was feeling bored as he sat in a tree playing with his would be lunch. The mouse was squirming extensively and kept making squeaks as though pleading with Luka to spare him. As Luka went to plop the poor mouse into his mouth, a bird flew by making a commotion which peaked Luka's attention "Ah what’s with the commotion Mr. Bird?" Luka asked as the bird landed on a branch nearby. Luka let the mouse go and poked the bird with his finger to get an answer out of it. "Alice is back! Alice is back! She's in the room with the doors at this moment." The bird said in a high pitched voice then flew off. Luka’s smile grew "Alice! Oh I must tell Hatter about this!" he chuckled to himself. "And maybe I can get him to let me try on that marvelous hat again. Tee hee!" Luka disappeared on site.
He reappeared sitting down at the end of the table where James and Max were drinking tea. "Hello James! Hello Max! Mighty fine day isn't it? I've got some interesting news that a little birdie told me. Want to know what it is?" His smile stretched far across his face as he picked up a cup of tea and drank a little. James looked at Luka, and grinned back. "Ah Luka...or Cheshire...or whatever you are going by these days, you should know by now that birds can be quite mischievous during conversation." James said as he set his tea cup down on a nearby plate. The table was cluttered with tons of things, because James had been too lazy to clean up after himself and the Max. "Of course, any news should be told to me the Hatter of course. I would love to hear your news--Oh wait, is it good or bad news??" James asked as he raised his hat to see Luka a bit better. “I dreadfully hope he is not planning to try on my hat again...” he thought to himself for he knew Luka loved his hat so much.
Luka's smile turned into a smirk. "Yes yes birds are mischievous....but so am I. But anyways…" he said and clapped his hands together. "...What was I talking about again? Oh yes the news. Well I believe it would be good news but I'll only tell you this good news if I could just try on your hat one more time." Luka tried to attempt the puppy dog face but being a cat had a hard time doing so. In fact he looked quite hilarious making a pouting face and enlarging his eyes while his tail flailed through the air swishing this way and that, that any normal human would have laughed hysterically at seeing him. James smirked back at Luka. He took his hat off reluctantly and looked at it in interest, then he looked back at Luka. He set the hat down on the table with his hand on the top of it, so Luka couldn't yet take it. "Oh Luka! You and my hat! I don't see how you can't like the rest of my hats that I have made." Sadly they all ended unsuccessfully... James said, then thought the last part to himself. "But, your puppy face is quite hilarious indeed." James said as he laughed a bit, then his face went serious. "Anyways, about trying on my hat, you may...as long as this news you are planning to tell me isn't dreadfully boring." James said as he reluctantly took his hand off the top of the hat and held it for Luka to get.
Luka's smiled then grabbed the hat quickly in case James rethought his decision. "Oh sweet, wonderful, delightful hat. How I longed to wear you once more." He placed the hat on his head, his tail swooshing back and forth as he sat in mid air above the table. "Now then the news. Yes very good news indeed." He waited for a bit of suspense then wide eyed said, "Alice is back in Wonderland. She's in the door room as we speak, though I wonder if she remembers what door to go through and how to do so. Shall I go fetch her?" But before James could answer Luka had already begun to disappear leaving the hat to fall onto the table.
James caught his hat as it fell to the table and put it onto his head. "Ah Luka...you are always leaving my hat behind..." James said as he looked up at the sky, then the forest right in front of him. "Hmm...Alice is back, I can hardly believe it...I wonder if she remembers me anymore, probably not...since she forgot me the first time." James said as he paced around the table. "I truly hope that I get to see Alice while she is back here..." James said, so excited for one of his favorite person's return.
Meanwhile back in the door room, Alice kept jiggling the doorknobs with no success. She sat down and thought for a moment. Upon doing so she saw a small door. "Wonderlands door!" she said but frowned. "I bet it’s locked. Oh now where is that key?" Suddenly a table appeared with a key on it. "That's right." She grabbed the key then looked back at the door. "Kind of small though. I suppose I shall have to shrink in order to fit in...but how to do so?" She looked back down at the table and saw a small bottle with the label "drink me" on it.
"Now this is definitely familiar." She held onto the key with one hand and picking up the bottle with the other drank some of the liquid. "Hmm tastes like blueberry pie, roast turkey, pumpkin bread..." As she announced each food, she began to shrink in size till she was small enough to fit through the door.”Oh Goodness!” she said then walked over and turning the key, opened the door.
