~Xenocryst Assimilato

Light’s buzzed to life as a semi spherical ceiling above suddenly set aglow with luminance. A perfect recreation of the starry sky suddenly alive above as the large device in the center hummed and turned, the slightest keystroke sending into a new formation, a new view of the heavens.

‘This is…incredible! What sort of magic is this?’

“Heh,” Noah took on a slightly amused smile, even it didn’t seem to reach his eyes. “It’s called a planetarium.” He gave a sigh. “This place is…well, was, a museum…I used to come here a lot. This planetarium runs on it’s own power, so even though they’ve probably shut down the power to the area with the evacuation, and everything, we’d still be able to have some light while being securely inside.” He looked back at the way they’d come in. "These doors are sound proof, and this place is pretty big…even if one of them gets curious and comes inside, they’ll probably be hunting for humans right? So…”

‘They’ll most likely pass this place by when they don’t smell them…yes, a sound enough scenario. As sound as any we could hope for, I suppose…but…turn our head up a bit will you?’

Noah got a slightly skewed grin at this request, humoring him with a light shrug.

‘This place…it’s…like a living observatory…you move the heavens with but a touch…you cannot tell me this is mere science?'

Noah shook head as he laughed. “Heh unbelievablet…you guys really have no idea do you…did you hear a world of "humes" and think it’d be an easy time?”

‘Well…’ he sounded slightly abashed ‘it…wasn’t that exactly…’

Noah started laughing even harder, this time his humor even reaching his eyes, a true smile on his face for the first time in...a long while. “You’ve got be kidding me…” he couldn't believe these demons. They knew as little about the human world as the humans did of theirs, and invasion was plan A? “Well aren't you going to be in for a surprise. If we don’t get out of this city before the evacuations complete… well I’d bet anything we’ll be nothing a radioactive cloud of disassembled molecules…”

‘…I…beg your pardon?’

Noah suddenly realized. “You…you have no idea what a nuclear bomb is do you...”

‘A wha-‘ there was a distant rumbling, as though of thunder, yet the ground itself seemed to be shaking. Somehow, and he wasn’t entirely sure how, Noah could somehow feel Xenocryst tense. ‘Hold your explanation…that sound…I did not think the rift could sustain beasts of such great size but… that sound is unmistakable…it must be a-“

Yet more rumbling sounded, Xenocryst feeling confusion at the rapidity of the trembling. “Heh…you guys really have no idea…” Noah actually sank into one of the seats, folding his arms and leaning back with a long sigh. “That sound, oh brave conqueror from a foreign land, is probably carpet bombing. This is a major city, they’ll have the military out and in force by now, and you can bet that if you can die they’ll find a way. Bombs, incendiary rounds, if there’s one good thing about we little humans it’s how good we are destroying things… not to mention there's around 8,000,000,000 of us.”

‘…..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eight…eight WHAT!? That number…that…that is madness!!!’

Noah gave a smirk, looking untroubled. “Yeah…thank china. Like I said…”

Noah’s eyes fell grim. “You may be coming here thinking it’s going to be easy pickings…but the only thing that this is going achieve…is the destruction of both our worlds. We humans won’t think twice of annihilating our world if it means destroying yours…we’re spiteful like that…if it comes to full out war…I’m not really sure who would win. You guys would rule infantry for sure with you superior power…but our advantage is in our WMD’s…” another rumble. “But…you were supposed to be teaching me how to work this body weren’t you?” he held up a hand and stared at the back of it in the simulated starlight. “Well…?”

‘I…yes. Yes of course.’ Xenocryst still seemed to be a little taken aback, not quite yet understanding the true scale of the battle that unfolding outside…a battle that had only just begun…

‘First…’ Xenocryst seemed to have regained focus, apparently having a strong enough stake in this matter to set aside any and all else in the interim. ‘You have to let go of the idea that you are a human.’ Noah raised an eyebrow. ‘I am quite serious. The longer you delude yourself, and deny what you are, the longer this will take. You must stop using our body as you would your old…it is no longer merely the sum of it’s parts. You are now a creature of magic…it is…a part of you. One with you. You are no longer a mere vessel of flesh and bone. Your soul is now just as tangible as you very arm…you hand. It can be made real, and it can be made manifest.’

Noah actually felt some sort of…ripple of understanding through him at these words… as though as on some level, he understood them. Unfortunately, that level wasn’t somewhere he could currently reach.

“But…how exactly am I supposed to make it manifest? Just saying that I CAN do something, doesn’t tell me HOW.”

Xenocryst made a frustrated noise. ‘Just let it happen! It’s a part of who you are now, it should be no different to you then moving your arm or leg. It’s merely your self imposed belief you are still the same as a human that is preventing it.’

Noah frowned ever so slightly. “So…you mean it’s like some kind of mental block? But how can it possibly be that simple…?”

Xenocryst gave an aggravated growl. ‘Idiot! Think for a moment and listen to yourself! You’re over complicating this! What in the name of the gods is so great about being a human that you would cling to it so! I saw that look in your eyes as we fought! I didn’t hesitate to fuse with you because I could feel it in you!’ Noah’s face seemed to go slightly surprised. ‘You were practically one of us already! You have the iron resolve to live above all, the ambition to grasp all that can and ever could be yours…the conquerors soul.’ He roared from within the depths of Noah’s mind. ‘You’d little enough humanity in you already Noah Walker…admit it to yourself. You’re better then the squirming worms that fled before me…rather than take your chance to run you came back to face me…came back to face ME when you’d no chance at victory…and don’t lie to yourself that you won. We both lost that fight...’ Noah was frowning deeper now, ever so slightly furrowing his brow as his normally dull eyes seemed imperceptible. ‘Do you think a normal creature would have done that? You were one of us on the inside even before I shared my essence with you…the transition between our personalities was near effortless…you and I are similar souls. Before you were a human who had the mindset of one of us…so why can’t you just accept what you are now that you actually ARE one?! What’s so worth clinging to about your old life…? WELL?’

Noah’s eyes were now wider…his hand still outstretched as the Assimilato’s words seemed conjure up memories from within him, raising up his past like a mirrored cloud of dust…

“Noah! Geez, what are you doing just sitting in here, Lizzy was just here and wanted to see if you wanted to go play with everyone. The fire hydrant don’t the way’s burst open and the kids are all-“

“Hn…no thanks.”

A long sigh. “Little brother if you don’t start getting up the world isn’t going to just keep coming for you. Eventually…it’ll pass you by.”

“That’s fine, let it.” Noah slowly turned over on his side, looking out at the city through the large dual paned window of the apartment. “This world is boring…it doesn’t interest me.”

Yet another more exasperated sigh “Oh whatever. Then do you want to help me make dinner?”

“Sure.”

“Noah! Don’t forget your lunch!”

“Noah you shouldn’t be so hard on them…they try they’re best for…each other.”

“Noah I can’t believe you just blew Dad off like that. Not everything they do for us is to make themselves feel less guilty!”

“Noah, you need to being more honest with your feelings or…”

“Little Brother…you have…to…live…”

‘You were already a kindred spirit to our kind, I’m certain of it, Noah Walker…grasp hold of what built that inside you. You ARE a demon. What prevents you from accepting t-‘

“I’ve never really hated other people…” Xenocryst was silenced by this sudden exposition, apparently taking this as a sign he might be getting through to the boy.

“People are selfish creatures…they only look out after themselves and their own interests…no matter what they say or what lives they tell themselves…everyone follows their own desires and will…it’s the only way people can live…” Noah’s hand stretched up further towards the projected stars. “My parents…they were always clinging to one another…always off living their lives together…as though my sister and I never even existed at all.” There was no sadness in his voice…just an even accepting tone.

“But I never hated them for it…in truth… I understood.” He closed his eyes ignoring the distant rumble. “The fact is that everyone’s like that. And hating them for it is pointless. It’s not like they could do any different. Is being selfish really such a bad thing…?” he gave a small smirk.

“Hn…personally…no matter how dirty or corrupt or selfish human beings are…no matter how evil or imperfect…no matter how disgusting or wicked they are…no matter how much they destroy in pursuit of greed or passion or personal glory and dreams…” he suddenly opened his eyes with a dark intensity. “I like them anyway.”

Suddenly the distant rumbling was overshadowed by a scraping from the otherside of the doors, then a loud wrenching impact. The doors ripped off the hinges as a large silhouette savagely tore down the door, reptilian scales and eyes visible in the dim light.

‘A Basilisk…it seems like a young one…but it’s a monster, a mindless beast…it won’t care what we are, you’ll have to run for now! …what…what are you doing! Didn’t you hear what I said!?’

Noah slowly stood, staring the creature in the face, his feet set on the ground as though he was taking a stance against all the world, his back so straight it seemed it might serve as a suitable pillar to hold up the sky. The unmoving conviction in his normally tired eyes was of the grimmest sort…a certainty as unshakable as death to the mortals of the world…

His hand was still outstretched in seemingly pointless regard. “Humans are everything that they consider evil…and it seems that other creatures agree they’re nothing but inferior worms…scratching and cowardly trying to have their way in this world at the cost of all else… but…” Noah didn’t move as the lizard began to close the distance between them, it’s long scaly body scrambling along the floor. “I’ll fight for their right to exist anyway…if that makes me a bad guy…a villain…a champion of diseased self-serving abominations…an enemy of god’s design who it seems would see them destroyed… so be it…”

The basilisk leapt into the air, jaws wide.

‘NOAH WALKER SNAP OUT OF--- What….?!’

There was a rush of darkness, the sound of wind, then a clanging as claws and teeth met steel.

“A demon…? Yeah…I guess I am. I can live with that.”

Noah was standing, setting his feet against the weight of the creature while in his hands, a strange, almost unearthly weapon had appeared. A long black scythe, one that might have belonged to death himself, was in the young man’s grasp, a new strength filling him with it’s presence. Though the basilisk was far larger then himself, the scythe in his hands he was keeping it at bay, the bar blacking it’s sharp claws while jammed into it’s jaws, it’s vicious teeth biting down on it in vain while Noah’s grip held strong.

‘You…did it! You summoned a medium! You manifested our power!’

Noah clenched his teeth as he fought to keep the creature locked in this stalemate, his strength now noticeably, exponentially, greater then he’d ever imagined. Yes…yes he could now believe he was possessed of all the strength of the demonic black lion who’s voice was now within his mind…all the power of an Assimilato… all the might of a demon…

Thenia began to feel Lanryel's anxiety as they pushed faster and faster through the forest. Weaving around low hanging branches and trying to hold on to her steed was keeping her busy enough as it was to not also have to worry about a panic attack. That was when she saw him, driving past them some distance away. For a moment she could have sworn it was Marxes after all he looked just like him. Yet younger. Thenia had never met Corinth, Marxes had made sure of that, but in that brief moment she felt a strange connection to the demon cloaked in darkness heading back towards the Elven kingdom.

Not long after they emerged into the clearing and at once Thenia recognized the horrid creatures starting to vandalize the quaint little cabin. They were beasts her father had kept and used to torture prisoners; she had only witnessed it once and on accident but Thenia would never forget the sight of the poor boy's limbs being torn assunder by hungry dogs. As Lanryel addressed her she snapped out of her momentary state of shock and handed over the bow to the older woman. So that was its intended user... As Lanryel worked her skill and deftly killed the first of the creatures Thenia was both impressed and frightened.

All the more so when Shiro leapt into action. The young demoness watched him as though he were moving in slow motion, a ruthless warrior coming from somewhere within. It was definitely a messy kill and as blood flew everywhere she could only stare on in horror. He was enjoying this...is this what he was to become, the further he transformed into a demon? With him dropped to the ground it was Thenia's pleas that first warned him of the fourth beast closing in behind him.

"Shiro, no!" She cried as she suddenly spurred her horse forward and easily caused it to leap over him and come down hard in the face of the fourth devil hound. The beast tumbled to the ground and as her horse righted itself she leapt from her saddle with her dagger drawn and onto the beast's back, managing to ram her dagger into it's skull as it tossed her violently to the side. Thenia landed with a thud several meters away dizzy from the impact but otherwise alright, watching as the fourth beast turned and headed for her fangs barred and ready to strike. However, with every step her attack began to take it's toll as it bled out from the inside, it's pace slowing until it collapsed dead a mere 2 feet from her face. That was the first time she had killed anything...

So much blood had gotten everywhere within the cabin. Streaks of crimson could be seen littered about the walls and windows. Had he been that frantic? His arm was shredded asunder, almost as if serrated by several sharpened blades. He quickly reached with his good arm for a clean towel, tossing the blood soaked towel next to his feet in the pile with the others. He had lost so much blood, and almost barely noticed the commotion had stopped some time ago. He didn't realize that Lanryel had returned by now, and was outside defeating his attackers.

It was faint, but he could've sworn he heard voices...but the pain was becoming far greater than he expected, and the simple task of keeping ones eyes open became harder with each passing moment. He peered drowsily at his arm assessing the damage, and making sure he had turnicated himself properly. He smirked as he replayed the events that lead him to hear slowly within his head. Well the bright side was that he was free again...wouldn't do him much good if he died here.

He had been to careless...had he been just a little bit more careful, he could've avoided all of this, but so was his luck. He clenched his teeth as he carefully took a portion of peeled back flesh and muscle, and placed it within its groove back against the bone. Well the good news was that the major arteries were still intact, but his muscle was ripped asunder. Nausea overcame him as he stared at an exposed artery, throbbing as it sent blood throughout his body. If he didn't get his arm treated soon, gangrene would set in. He swore to himself in a shaky voice as he crawled his way towards the doorway, propping himself up to the left of it.

"She's going to be pissed at me for this one," he said with a weary grin plastered upon his face. As much as Helios joked on the matter, truth be told he was completely afraid, and awfully pale. He was afraid of very few things in this world, but dieing alone was on the top of the list. For the longest time in that damned dungeon, he didn't fear much at all save the long bouts of isolation. Even as the darkness seemed to rush in all around Helios, he couldn't help, but smirk as he wearily wrote in blood upon the floor.

'To my beloved...looks like I became careless. I don't know how much longer I can remain awake, nor if you'll even make it here on time, so...I love you, and not a moment went by in that damned dungeon that I didn't think about you and our son...I have failed you one too many times with the loss of our son, and I'm sorry that you have to..." The message ended short as Helios sunk deep into unconsciousness. It was funny...he could have swore he heard voices outside, but figured he had just lost so much blood that his mind was playing tricks on him. He was just so...tiered.

(short post...pain eating me alive right now...can't think straight...will fix it up later...nothing will change though...just gonna add more description...don't tell wife I was on. She'll worry too much.)

~Xenocryst Assimilato

Noah's foot slid back a inch as the beast pressed it's advantage ever so slightly, but with a sudden rush of adrenaline he gave a push, sending the creature flying back just far enough to bring his newly received weapon about in an arc. The Lizard roared, it's weight buckling on it's hind legs as it prepared to launch itself forward again... but the boy's swing came first.

Noah watched in an almost stinted fascination as the razor edge of his weapon, so black it seemed to blend in perfectly with the darkness of the planetarium around them, swept through the neck of the creature before him.

He wasn't used to wielding his new exponentially greater strength, and the swing carried him further then he'd intended, sinking the blade of the scythe a ways into a nearby chair, but the deed was already done. The Blade had cut through the creature's throat, and, added to its own momentum, the cut had sent the head barreling over his left shoulder, the creature's blood now pouring out into the floor after the initial splash into his side. For a moment he just stood slightly shocked, the weapon still stuck in the chair, till the voice of Xenocryst roused him.

'Hn...you got lucky. You can't overcompensate so, if you don't control your strength it's of little use. what if it hadn't jumped? You'd have missed and right now you'd be WIDE open!'

Noah seemed to snap out of it, yanking his scythe free before looking back to the things twitching corpse. "...Hn...it's not like I had much time to think..."

'Do you suppose you always will in the heat of battle? If you're so attached to thinking while fighting, then learn to think faster.'

Noah frowned somewhat indignantly, but let it stand. He turned his gaze to the weapon his his hands. "So...this is a medium...? Is it supposed to look like this?"

'A medium is a different form at the will of the user. You made it look like this, whether you are aware of it or not.'

Noah gave the weapon a quick twirl, the pole of the weapon lighter then anything he'd ever felt...and yet at the same time...not. To him it felt as though it was no more than a feather, yet the momentum it carried once it began moving suggested a far higher rate of velocity.

'Stop playing!' Xenocryst demanded. 'Has it occurred to you that the scent this creatures blood will draw other predators!? And we're covered in it! We have to move!'

Noah adapted a slightly lazy indignance. "You're kind of like a really bossy back seat driver, you know that?" he sighed, looking more solemn. "But fine..." he rested his new scythe upon his shoulder. "Could you teach me to do that portal thing? I should be able to do that now that I have the medium right? Wouldn't that make it easier to escape?"

The demon within him snorted. 'You can barely swipe your claws without error, and you would try and use a higher level ability? Do not waste what little time we probably have before danger finds us. That ability has a limited range, as I said, and right now there's little chance you could control our power well enough to activate it, let alone skillfully manipulate it. Just run. Our best chance is to use the humans battling our brethren as a shield. We look human enough, so they should let us pass."

Noah didn't like the idea of others fighting his battles, but the Demon already knew this of him...he was right, it was their best chance. And once he'd learned to use this body a bit better...he'd be fighting all his own battles from then on... his eyes looked at the now still corpse of the Lizard...and slight smile crossed his face, before he took off running.

Lan.ryelxxx

With three of the beasts dead, it appeared that only one was left standing menacingly between her and Helios. As the moments crept by Lanryel began to feel a crushing pressure around her heart and she could almost sense Helios' pain. Was he in trouble already? She knew she had to get inside the cabin before anything happened to her beloved, before it was too late. Taking brief note that the young ones were alright she readied another arrow with poison and charged towards the fourth creature. It turned towards the sound of her charging horse from where it had been clawing at the door to the cabin in an attempt to get in. Lanryel would not stand to let that vile thing get into Helios so long as she was still breathing.

Readying her bow she watched the devil hound bare its teeth at her, blood dripping from it's matter muzzle. Was that...Helios' blood? She couldn't make assumptions yet however it did drive her adrenaline to it's max and she urged her horse to move faster as the hound began to close the gap between them as it too picked up speed. Narrowing her eyes Lanryel aimed directly at the thing's chest but just as she released the arrow the beast jumped into the air and the arrow missed it by barely an inch.

Lanryel cursed under her breath as the beast's shadow engulfed her as it came down from above. Unfortunately she had no time to react or reload as both she and the devil hound toppled as if in slow motion from the back of her horse and landed with a very painful thud on the ground. She cried out in pain but it was cut short as the beast pounded a large paw into her chest and instantly winded her. This couldn't happen she had to see that Helios was alright, she had to know that he hadn't been lost again. With great effort Lanryel was able to reach her hands up to block the creatures massive jaws from coming down and biting her face off though she wasn't sure how long that would last.

There seemed to be another source draining her energy and she needed to think of a plan and fast. The breath from the devil hound alone was enough to make her want to pass out but she wasn't about to let it eat her face. A bit of blood dripped down from it's mouth and onto her cheek and somehow she instantly felt that it was Helo's. Was that comforting? Only for the sheer fact of confirmation. It also gave her just enough of a burst of energy toss the beast's head away long enough to reach for a vial in her bag and splash the contents down the thing's throat.

It howled in pain and stumbled off her, clawing at its throat violently as the strong acid began to do its job an eat away at the vocal cords and eventually deteriorated it's esophagus. It died a painful, staggering death crawling towards the lake as if the water would help it. Lanryel had no time to feel remorse there was a more important task at hand: finding Helios.

Rising to her feet she winced from the pain in her chest but pushed on. Her eyes tunneled to the front door of the cabin and her feet drove her there without much thought of the possibility of more of the hounds stopping her. It was as she reached the porch that she could hear the snarling and hurried paws of at least two more headed towards her from the roof but she managed to get to the door before they spotted her. To her dismay it would not budge at all and she worried what could be blocking it. Hurriedly she calculated which way the beasts were traveling and took the other path - luckily the shortest one - to the back door to the cabin.

Reaching the door she was glad to see that it opened at her pushing yet not glad to see the head of one of the hounds peaking down at her from the roof above. Quickly she darted inside and pulled down a heavy wooden pantry that although caused the food inside to scatter everywhere successfully blocked the door as she heard the devil hound on the other side clawing uselessly. Lanryel hoped Shiro and Thenia would be alright to handle a few more, because at that moment all she needed to do was find Helios.

He watched in shock as Thenia fell the beast, and leaned upon his blade slightly before regaining his composure. Now was not the time for worry nor shock...now was the time for action. He raised his blade as his eyes shot to another beast, now advancing upon the battle fatigued Thenia. She didn't notice it at all, and Shiro feared he wouldn't reach her in time. Shiro reared his blade back, and with a might throw flung his sword at the beast, watching it sink into it's shoulder. The beast merely roared out and turned it's attention towards Shiro, it's nostrils flaring angrily as it charged the unarmed young man. It's breath was foul, and stunk of rotting flesh.

"That's right you foul beast...I'll be your opponent!" he screamed out in no hesitation, still with no weapon in hand, and still holding his ground, his hands clenched tightly into two fists. As the lumbering beast came within mere inches of Shiro, he reared back, and delivered a blow to the beast's skull making a resounding crack and causing the beast in it's momentum to topple atop of Shiro, causing dust and rocks to fly up...and then all was still. Shiro lied there motionless underneath the massive beast...adrenaline pumping through his body. The creature was dead, and he was no worse for wear save a few cuts and scratches, and having the wind knocked out of him. He just lay there recapping the events that unfolded within those short few seconds.

Not a sound came from the area, and he was sure Thenia thought he was dead, but for now, he had no energy left in him to fight, so he laid there. The creatures were dead, and he was sure it was the last one in the area, although he could be wrong. Sweat beaded up upon his forehead as he tried to shift a bit finding himself pinned beneath the beasts' weight.

"Someone's been eating a bit too well..." he muttered under his breath as he strained to pull his legs from beneath the creature to no avail. Smirking finally he simply laid back and chuckled.

Thenia didn't have time to react to the beast coming upon her from behind as her gaze was distracted by the sight of Shiro and his sword flying in her direction. For a brief moment the idea flashed in her mind that he was aiming at her - unfortunately it was a natural reaction when one was facing down a weapon, even when coming from an ally. But she didn't flinch as it flew past her within a matter of inches and sunk into the creature behind her.

The weapon had its intended effect and the rage was turned towards Shiro who she watched take on the advancing dog. At first she was unsure of what his plan was with his weapon sticking out of his target, but even she heard the sound of the cracking bone and the thing toppled over in a grand display. Yet when the dust settled Shiro was nowhere to be seen. "Shiro?!" she called out frantically, knowing he had been standing there just moments ago facing her.

He couldn't be dead...not now, not when they were just starting out. Hurriedly she rushed towards the beast fearing the worst looking for Shiro. Well, there he was lying on the ground but he was laughing and sure that was good, but he wasn't exactly safe. Seeing his legs pinned Thenia gasped and fell at his side, checking his upper body for any injuries. "Shiro, we have to get this thing off of you." she exclaimed, knowing it was obvious but it was more a declaration of her fears that if they didn't get him free soon he might get injured more.

Knowing that she couldn't move the creature on her own, with quick thinking she devised a viable plan. "Wait here Shiro..." she murmured, kissing him on the forehead before running over to two of the horses and pulling them over to the dead hell hound. Using rope from the packs she trussed up the legs to the horses and used their strength to pull the hell hound off of Shiro. When he was free she loosed the horses again and returned to Shiro to see if he was alright. "Can you get up?"

Lanryel scrambled hurriedly from the kitchen as she clutched her chest, beginning to smell the overpowering scent of blood and praying like crazy that what she found wasn't a dead body. No, as she moved from room to room heading for the entry room and the front door to see what had blocked it, she realized it was almost worse. Lanryel shrieked at the sight of Helios lying motionless on the floor covered in blood, and a hastily scrawled message in what could only be his own blood.

"Helios!" she exclaimed, collapsing next to him but not in his message. He appeared to still be breathing, but barely, and with a quick glance at his message she began to tear up. This couldn't be happening, he had just returned to her and they were going to live a new life together with their son who had mysteriously reappeared. She had just gotten back the man she had sworn to love for an eternity those many years ago. "No...no, Helios! Please, wake up!" Lanryel exclaimed, taking hold of his face and openly crying now.

"Our son isn't...you didn't lose him. Oh you have to wake up, I can't live without you another day!" Painful sobs wracked her body as she clung to Helios' body, wishing she could give him her life to save his. However, she had to remind herself that he was not dead. There was still time to help him. Drawing herself up she reached into her bag and pulled out what she had and went to work doing what she knew how to do best: tending to critical wounds.

At the very least she could make sure that he didn't lose any more blood. After several tense minutes and more than half of the medical supplies she had on her person the woman finally managed to close up the worse of the wound and began to bandage him up. All the time she sobbed silently between humming their song hoping somewhere inside he could hear her. Even with her abilities, she was still just a Hume and could only take care of the exterior damage. Without a proper hospital and a blood transfusion, this would take magic to fully repair. Hoping that he was out of the danger zone for a bit longer Lanryel collapsed on top of him on his uninjured side, holding him close. If anything went wrong at least she was by his side. She would have to wait to see if the children could defeat the beasts and get inside so that she could go and get help. If they weren't defeated already...

A song...a sweet song of the past brought light to the engulfing darkness around him. Coming to with a cough, he instantly teared up seeing Lanryel holding him dearly. He didn't say much, and simply laid there as warm tears streaked down the sides of his face. He chuckled weakly as he raised his good arm to her face.

"Thought you had gotten rid of me didn't you..." he wearily said as he forced a weak smile. "I just got here...so I'm not going anywhere anytime soon," he said wearily before swallowing hard and closing his eyes. He reached up with clouded vision grasping at her hand with a smile still planted upon his face. "I was...I was going somewhere...but...but your singing...I couldn't leave you behind...your all I have now," he said shaking feeling a bit chilled from his loss of blood. He was horribly weak, and his right arm felt on fire as the pain suddenly rushed throughout his body. He gripped at Lanryel's dress with his left arm gritting his teeth as the full rush of pain finally struck him, causing him to arch his back and turn unto his side in pain. The worse was over in the least, but now he had to bare such pain, and he was sure that infection would set in if he didn't get seen by a healer soon.

"Ergh...Ryelle...you...your going to have to put...ergh...to put me under...the...the PAIN..." he screamed out as he released her dress and clawed at the ground. "If...we can't make it to the healer on time...take my arm...I don't need it," he struggled to say in an odd chuckling tone before another surge of pain rushed through his arm. He could help but cry due to the immensity of what he was feeling, making this the first time Ryelle had ever seen him so weak. "Please...Ryelle," he pleaded as he writhe in pain reaching for his injured arm, no doubt to claw at it as an animal would to a trapped limb.

He was unconscious for the most part of what Lanryel had said, so he didn't hear the news about their child still being alive, so he was equally confused when a young man curled around a young woman came flying through the living room window, and onto the floor.

Shiro stood up helping Thenia up from the ground and dusted himself off before freezing. His eyes caught sight of blood...and lots of it, and he trailed it to the sight of Lanryel treating someone...the same someone he released from the dungeon. For a moment they're eyes met before the man doubled back over in pain, causing Shiro to snap from his stupor.

"Lanryel...there are more of them outside, we barely got away from them before crashing through the window. I don't think they saw us," he said, his eyes never once leaving the poor man on the ground.

Lanryel gasped when she finally heard Helios' voice and sat up to see his face, careful to not hurt him further by putting too much of her own weight on him. Wiping the last bits of her tears from her eyes she frowned at him, avoiding the urge to hit him for his comment. "Rid of you? If I wanted that I wouldn't have bandaged you up." she replied, narrowing her eyes in disapproval though soon the wave passed and she laughed in spite of herself. Brushing some hair from his face she kissed his cheek. "I used to sing that to you when you were sick..."

When he grabbed her dress Lanryel put her hand atop his and waited in pain watching him struggling so. She didn't want that for him, but there was going to be a great deal of it until she could get him a healer. But how much time did she actually have to get to one? Not only that, but these creatures were not from the area and obviously had been brought here; what if there were more? Lanryel had a bad feeling that the elven kingdom was in grave danger.

"Helo, I didn't bring anything with me to do that...I...I don't..." Lanryel began to stammer, feeling useless to him and regretful that she wasn't as prepared as she could have been. But who would have expected an attack by devil hounds? She had to hold his good arm pinned to the floor to keep him from going for his injured arm and for once she was speechless and unsure of what to do next. Suddenly, her fears were answered when the children made a grand entrance. Listening to what Shiro said she let go of Helios long enough to get up and bolt the shudders over the window hoping to keep the other beasts out for a bit longer.

"Shiro, I need you to do me a favor and put those blankets on top of him and keep him from using his good arm. Don't worry he won't hurt you...at least on purpose. I have to go back to the palace and get a healer..." Lanryel said hurriedly as she gathered up some things preparing to leave, until Thenia finally spoke up.
"Lanryel don't...I can do it."

Shiro's legs, thank the heavens, were fine despite being pinned, and while they celebrated their short lived victory she wondered where Lanryel was. "I think I saw her go towards the back of the cabin. But I thought I just heard her voice inside. I can hear singing..." Thenia told him, which inspired the decision to make a run for it and go through the window to get into the cabin.

Sure enough Lanryel was there with an injured man and as Shiro helped her up Thenia took stock of the scene. This much blood...she was surprised the man was still alive. She too froze, staring at the man, but for another reason. When she was growing up she had learned on her own about the different powers one might get by having horns. Each type of horn typically shaped and was colored based on the type of magic. Yet her father Marxes had always changed the subject when she asked him about her horns. It took observation, and several occasions of abuse from him to realize that hers was healing as she would watch her wounds heal on their own faster than they should have, depending on the severity.

"Lanryel don't...I can do it." Thenia finally said, stepping forward and knealing next to the man. "I am sorry if this hurts, but I have to make contact with you." she explained to Helios before placing her hand right on the wound and applying pressure. Focusing like she had taught herself to do, the demoness closed her eyes and tuned out - with great effort - the sounds of the room and channeled her energy to the man's wounds. As she did so her horns began to shine and the path of the energy from her horns to her hands was almost visible.

The thing she didn't understand still was that her power was not unlimited healing, but an exchange of energy. As much as she gave, the same was taken from her and only time would heal that. Several minutes later the wound was healed to the point that his own body would take care of the rest and he was out of danger. However at the same time Thenia had become visibly paler the entire time, and when she was finished she managed to smile for the man before collapsing on the floor.
