What version of the Bible do you most often use?

For just plain ol' reading, I like the NIV. If there's a verse or topic I'm trying to understand or get different views on, I look at the King James and whatever else I can find (BibleGateway is a wonderful thing).

I agree on Bible gateway!
For general reading I usually use New Revised Standard. For ref. I usually use Thompson chain ref. and whatever else is handy.

Mine is the King James. I am fond of literature and flowery language. But when I find that hard to comprehend or I want some in depth knowledge I like the New Spirit Filled Life Bible. My husband and I like the New Spirit Filled Life Bible so much our copy is falling to piece ;(

My church reads the New King Jimmy. smile I like it, but have to look up at the Amplified sometimes for understanding. And I have checked out Bible Gateway too.

I have 2 KJVs (one of which is slowly falling apart), an NIV that is falling apart, a Holman Christian Standard Bible, and was recently was given a New Living Translation study bible. I haven't read the last two yet, at least not in-depth, but they look to be rather interesting.
Also have a mini-book of Mormon a friend gave to me. Haven't really read but a little bit of it, and that was quite a few years ago.

I'm pretty sure the Book of Mormon doesn't count as part of the Bible, no matter what its adherents would like us to believe.
Heck, if we're going to count up all the "sacred writings" we own, it'll take me a good hour to write down all of mine. Let's stick with the Bible.
Still ... "mini-book"? What, only certain parts?

I use my good ol' New International Version (NIV). It's a "revolution" (r) study bible, and it has all sorts of footnotes saying what other manuscripts have, and sometimes "the meaning of this Hebrew phrase is uncertain", meaning they just guessed at the translation, or have no idea what the analogy is. I really like that one.
I also have a travel, pocket-sized NLT, which I don't read as much.

No, you're right, it doesn't count as part of the Bible. I am not a Mormon, nor do I believe any of their ideologies. I was just saying I have a copy.
