This weekly paper has a Wednesday publication. On Wednesdays the guild crew will add to the port town's paper with a new edition. Anything said in the paper only refers to the characters in the role-play and not the people behind the account.

Town Headlines

By Josh Collins

The town of Porta Denia mourns yet another lost airship crew. Believed to be dead, the twelve man crew of the Island Palm, an independent air cargo contractor, becomes the fourth airship to go missing this month. The Island Palm, like the ships before it, were contracted by Hastings Air Cargo for a single cargo run taking them through what is known as the Devil's Run. Devil's Run, or Dead Man's Pass as some have called it, is considered to be the most dangerous air route on Gaia. No one knows the real reason as to why the route is so dangerous but some have said it's the terrain itself or the extremely violent weather conditions surrounding the are the reasons for the disappearing cargo ships.

Hastings Air Cargo has been asked to comment on the missing air cargo ships. A spokesman for the company has said that once they know something Porta Denia will know something. A direct comment from owner and CEO Peter Hastings has been refused as he continues to have his spokesman speak for the board and the company. Hastings and his board have yet to be seen anywhere around town socially since the first ship went missing.

This week I sat down at my usual stool at the Red Lion Tavern to the delight of patrons and staff alike. It seems our favorite young waitress, Amy Sanders, is now engaged to be married to her high school sweetheart Riley Walton. Amy was seen sporting a nice yellow gold ring with a pair shaped solitaire diamond and showed it off to me with a smile upon her face. Congratulations to Amy and her Fiance Riley. When we hear of a wedding date you dear readers will know right along with us.

Once more Denwale Kounds, our town's more colorful resident, was the life of the party at the Red Lion. And once more, Denwale has forgotten he is a member of the Stein Club. Denwale was seen asking people at the bar why they sat him where they did and what he was doing with a stoneware stein in his hand. Instead of answering him, Frank, the baretender, poured a frothy ale into his stein and told Denwale to not think about it and just drink. Success was had by Denwale when he asked Maggie Hoffman out on a date for Friday night. Let's hope Denwale remembers he has that date and Maggie is the one picking him up. We'll report to you on the success or failure of the date in next week's edition dear readers.

As I close out my column, I extend my heart and my sorrow to the friends and families of all our missing airships and their crew.

Town Headlines

A week has gone by since the Island Palm was lost to the Devil's Run and still no official word from Hastings Air. Peter Hastings refuses to grant this reporter an interview or send out an official statement. In the words of my predecessor, and now our town's beloved social columnist, a great injustice is being served to the people of Porta Denia if the ones responsible for their actions do not step forward and take responsibility. Those words rang true during the Port Authority money laundering and bribery scandal of 1985 and they ring true today. This reporter will not rest until Hastings Air gives us an official statement regarding the four missing airships.

The people of Porta Denia want answers Mr. Peter Hastings as to why you sent their good friends and colleagues into harms way instead of the ships under your registry. What is it that you know that you are not telling us? The town, the airships, and all of Gaia have a right to know the truth.

Dear readers I come to you with an update about the date last Friday between Denwale and Maggie Hoffman. Denwale did indeed remember he made a date with Maggie and, as Maggie told me, he showed up Friday night not remembering why he made the date just that he did. Denwale was a nervous wreck but he came bearing a single peony to give to Maggie in good manners. Dinner was had at the Desert Rose Cafe upon the tree and after a few glasses of wine, at Maggie's insistence, Denwale was his usual self. Dinner and good conversation were had and despite the rocky start Maggie reported that she and Denwale had a fine time. I don't think there's going to be any sparks between the two but it is nice to see Denwale being a bit more social in sobriety than out.

News from Jenny Sanders, Amy's sister, and her fourth grade class. Little Amelia Johanson has won first prize in the Porta Denia School's third and fourth grade story competition for her tale, Pip the Lighting Otter. Amelia is a budding young scribe with an imaginative story about a lightning otter named Pip who lives amongst the clouds and saves an airship lost in a storm. That's quite an imagination Amelia. Congratulations to Amelia Johanson for her accomplishment. A copy of Pip the Lightning Otter can be obtained at the Porta Denia Unified School offices for those who wish to read it. This reporter highly recommends it.

Town Headlines

After much demanding and questioning by this reporter, Hastings Air has finally made a public statement concerning the four missing airships. Their position on this situation at the moment is an official no comment. While the statement had a larger word count than the two word "no comment" between the lines the statement read as no comment.

At this time the Hastings Air Cargo Company can not give an official position on the four missing independent cargo ships under our employ.

This declaration of a no comment from Peter Hastings and his representative leads this reporter to believe that Hastings Air deliberately sent ships not under their registry to their doom. Why they are doing this remains a mystery but one theory points to compensation for lost employees. It is my theory that Hastings Air does not want to pay compensation for employees and airships lost. If that is the reason why then I challenge Hastings Air to send one of their own ships into the Devil's Run. If you can't send your own ships on such a dangerous air run then you have a lot to answer for.

Last night I received quite the surprise when an old friend, Aylin Rhys, arrived at the Red Lion Tavern. It had been forty-eight years since Miss Aylin and I had last seen each other and it was a true delight to see her once again. Aylin looked just the same as she did on the day she and her husband left Porta Denia. I, on the other hand, must have looked ancient to her. Unfortunately, like me, Aylin has been widowed. I was saddened to learn she lost her husband to a great illness.

On the Denwale front, it seems the town drunk was making faces and passes at a visiting male last night. Not used to Denwale's sense of humor when drunk the unknown man became uncomfortable and walked out of the tavern. As he was leaving, the man was heard to comment about how he had thought the Red Lion was a simple tavern and not a homosexual singles bar. Of course Denwale was laughing at how he believed the man could not take a joke. That comment earned the favorite drunkard of Denia another stein of beer from the crowd around him.

Town Headlines

By Josh Collins

It is my sad duty to report to you this week that one of our own Captain Robert Donovan and the crew of the Red Barron have gone missing. This marks the fifth ship in one month to go missing from our port. Having the go missing is a disheartening blow to Porta Denia because this time it was not a ship contracted by Hastings Air. As our very own harbor master reports, Donovan had been talking up a big game about how he would be the first person to successfully captain a crew through the Devil's Pass.

Robert Donovan was a man of exceptional character. He was always one to take on a challenge and he loved a good debate. Regulars of Fong's Noodle Palace and Diner remember all the time Captain Donovan and Li Fong spent debating about town politics and philosophy. Donovan was a part of this town taking part in many Town Meetings being a voice of reason during much debate. He will be sorely missed.
