So I'm gonna be a saaaphmore next year (like how my principal says it) and I decided to try out for drill instructor in the leadership. Definitely nervous if I get it. If I do I hope I'll do well. So we just had to write four paragraphs. What about anyone else?

just be confident and you'll do fine.

I tried out for drum major, but I got section leader. I'm still quite proud I made it that far, and not really surprised. I did really bad during my conducting audition(let my nerves get to me)

We don't really try out for anything except for drum major.
But I got nominated for Band Senate Secretary and Flute section leader. Our BD and Band Senate President choose who gets what positions.

Oh and I got chosen for assistant librarian (:

I'm auditioning for field commander next Friday. I'm pretty confident about getting the part, but I have a couple challenges to go up against. I'll be up against two current sophomores and two current juniors. If I don't get this then I'll be percussion section leader regardless. I'm the only person suitable to lead the bunch of monkeys since our other two experienced people are quitting band.

Lol, well, Im going to be a Sophomore next year aswell.

I tried out as a clarinet section leader.
For our leadership program, we had to undergo lecturing and "Training" for 2 days, and then auditioned.
But 3 months prior to that we had to get 2 teacher recommendations, write a 1-2 page essay , submit a resume and get 20 signatures from students in the program.
I was scared, I was scared to death.
It was so scary, but then It got so much easier in my interview, and my music audition was okay. My commands were...decent... but yeah , Its fun , and nerve wracking.
we find out in 2 days (monday) so Im excited.

Nope. I'm automatically the leader of my pit.
Then again, I'm the only one qualified to lead my section even though I have zero leadership skills...you'd think after three years they would find someone else, seriously. lol.
My director likes me in the position, and I love it.

Other sections have leader tryouts and etc.
I can't wait for the results of the assistant drum major tryouts, the only guy trying out is wanted more than either of the other two candidates...if only because he's that awesome and deserves the position for trying out for assistant for two years in a row.

I was flute SL this year. I hope (but doubt) to be Band Council President, but I think a clarinet player who is well-liked is gonna get it (even though she really doesn't care about band that much and only is in it to socialize).

I put in my application for tuba SL, but I don't think the director's gonna pick me because it'll be my first year on tuba. =P Maybe assistant...if I'm lucky that he even HAS that position!

For us, all SL hopefuls had to do was fill out an application with name, instruments, and circle "yes" to all the answers. DMs had to audition with a speech, conducting, salute, and mace work. The director ultimately picks these positions. For band council, students get to vote on the positions, and a representative from each class is part of it (plus the DMs).

I'm trying out for Clarinet Section Leader and Band President or Vice-President.

This is my last State Marching year and also my senior year. I love, live, and breathe for marching season like you wouldn't believe. My sophomore year, we made it to State, but not Finals. If the feeling of making it just to State was beyond description, imagine what it would feel like to make State Finals? I want to be SL so that I can make a difference and get things done the right way. That way, we'll make it to State Finals and my dream will be realised. And trust me; this is a dream I will fight for with every single cell of life I've got in me.

The only problem is, there's this girl, Elizabeth, who's also trying out. She's and I are great marchers, but she'll be more free during the summer than I will to attend band camp, so I'm afraid my BD will choose her over me because of that. Even though I'm way more responsible and totally a much better leader.
