Okay! It's actually really simple. A yukata and a kimono look the same. It's what they're made of that determines the difference.

A yukata is made out of light cotton and has a simple obi. It's for the summer months.

A kimono is often made of silk and tends to be heavier. It is often worn with more layers of undergarments and often has a much more complicated obi.

Kimono also seem to have more intricate patterns where as a yukata has a simple repeating pattern on the fabric. Another big difference is the price. Because a yukata is made of cotton, it can cost anywhere between $50 and $90. This is why many Japanese people own one. A kimono can cost anywhere from $300 to $5000. If you're extremely wealthy you might even choose one embroidered in gold for over $10,000.

Here's a how-to on wearing a full kimono with lots of pictures!

Arigatou!
I knew Kimonos were heavier but I didn't think that would be a difference factor.
Obviously it is XD

Yeah. This is why yukata are often referred to as "summer kimono."

Awesome! I admit - I didn't even know! ^_^;;; And wow, it seems so complex to just put them on!

...But we must wait for the opportunity to fly...
