After being diagnosed with blood clots, Vickers sat out the Dover race. Casey Mears is Subbing in for vickers and finished a respectable 22nd. Unfortunatley for Vickers, he has to take blood thinners and it has been reported that it is likely he will not drive for at least 3 months. There is a very high possibility that he may never race again as many times people with his condition have to take blood thinners for the rest of their lives. Nascar drivers cannot use blood thinners because of the risk of bleeding to death from an accident. I personally think this sucks and i feel bad for him because he is still young and finally started finding his own place in Nascar, Casey Mears has to feel bittersweet about the situation.

I know...He did so well last year...and to see this happen. He's not even 30 yet. He has the promising carrier. This may bring him down. I feel really sad for him now. Even if Vickers can't race anymore...that can't be the end of the road for him and Nascar.

I've been keeping tabs on this between Jayski and NASCAR.com. Rather depressing. I can't really say there was a time when I didn't like seeing Vickers race. He's got all kind of untapped potential, and if this takes him out for good, NASCAR has lost one hell of a driver.

He won't be out...the only reason he can't race is because of that icky medicine. My father had this problem once and it can be fixed..but you have to be EXTREMELY careful while taking it... When they gave it to my dad they made sure all pointy objects were removed and made sure he didn't do anything to extreme in the hospital... clot is soso to move... but if you bleed...well...its not pretty to say the least... However Vickers will be back at the track no doubt..they just don't want to chance him getting a cut or gash from a wreck. And I agree..why risk it for a non points paying event? I give him 4-6 days tops...As long as there are no complications...

He may be back for the race this weekend from what jayski said, I hope he is because then it wont hurt his season too much..

If he's on blood thinners, it could take a while...and even then he may still be on them. There is that chance that this could be the end for Vickers.

Vickers is out for the year, at least. Just announced. That really sucks for him he's a good, young guy who was finally starting to get the finsishes he wanted.
