This is a private role-play between CuiYan [Tooaya] and Bataar [Kayakurai.]

Setting:
An area of Main Street containing less people, and with a plentiful supply of rodents.
PostPosted: Mon May 17, 2010 5:14 pm

He was lost. Again.

The Mongol appeared to be rather disconcerted as he observed his surroundings, a pronounced frown gracing his tanned features. It was of no use even to look at the brightly-painted street signs, especially because he was at a loss when it came to reading them. The moment he’d set out from his yurt to walk the streets of the Imperial City he’d been more or less screwed; there was no other word fit to describe his predicament. It had been almost predestined that he should confuse backwards and forwards, north and south. Even if he’d had the ability to read street signs, it was doubtful that they would have helped much for a man as directionless as Bataar.

For now he struggled to wriggle his way out of the crowd in which he’d caught himself in on Main Street, heaving a sigh of relief when he finally found himself in the company of much less people. It was beyond his understanding as to why so many people insisted on crushing themselves together so that they could hardly breathe. For someone as muscular as Bat, it made no sense whatsoever. For those who were small it might have been less of a pain, but he still couldn’t comprehend the appeal of the Imperial City in the first place. He was here as nothing more than a prisoner, and he would remain here as long as his mother expected him to(the tyrant!).

Bat trudged along, looking too dejected even to pursue a lovely little rat scampering along the side of the road. Not even his passion for rodents could cheer him now, although he had decided that the abundance of rats and other small, furry creatures were probably the best feature of the city. Even as adorable as the rat was, nothing helped the fact that Bataar was absolutely lost.

”Dear Tengri,” he appealed to the god whom he believed to dwell in the sky, ”Please reveal to me the location of my yurt!”

As if that was going to work.

It was a rather joyful day. The green haired young man had just accomplished the latest homework given by his mentor, and, after turning it in while feeling quite pleased about the efforts that was put into the report, CuiYan wandered out of his residence, humming softly in tunes even unknown to himself. Not having a destination, the young man simply allowed his feet to take him to wherever his body desired. In the mean time, he planned in his mind what he should do in the afternoon. Should he train and improve his swordsmanship, or venture around to discover a new paint-worthy scenery, or perhaps taking a nap under the giant cherry tree on top of the hill?

Slowly, Cui strolled across intersections after intersections, paying no mind to people passing by. The main street seemed awfully quiet today, and there weren't many civilians seen even around the most popular shops. In short, it was a lazy day, though the young man was pleased by the quietness.

Unfortunately, this quietness did not last long. As soon as Cui turned another corner his ears received a sudden roar not too far away. The noise, obviously distracting and disturbing, pulled the young man from his train of thought and sent him jumping backwards in shock. He immediately situated himself by rooting firmly to the ground. His eyes squinted slightly and shifted around, trying to locate the source of the noise. It didn't take him long to do so, for another Lunarian, not so much older than himself, was standing in the middle of the street few feet away. Cui studied the dark skinned Lunarian, tilting his head, showing mild disapproval. What was the guy doing? Screaming in the middle of the street? Facing up as if there was something important in the air? If there were other people around Cui had no doubt they would be effected by this crazy man and follow his lead---but Cui was not among the mundane.

Eventually, after comprehending and translating in his head what language the man was screaming, Cui seemed to have gotten the idea the poor guy was in need of some help. There was a brief moment of hesitation, for the man was much taller and bulkier than he was. Even if Cui was confident about his skill with a sword, he---well, he had never fought a beast, and had no plan of fighting one. But on the other hand, if he manage to gain this man's trust, perhaps he'd be useful in the future, just like everyone else he had encountered.

Smiling, Cui walked closer to the man in light steps. Stopping while leaving quite a distance between the two, the young man called out in his most charming tone.

"May I help you, friend?"
PostPosted: Sun May 30, 2010 3:38 pm

A voice sounded. Tengri had replied.

"May I help you, friend?"

Bataar continued to stare up into the sky, a look of determination on his face as he tried to come to terms with the fact that he was speaking with a god. If he'd just glanced down, however, he might have realized that he'd mistaken the voice of CuiYan for that of the Lord of the Blue Sky. "Yes, Tengri! I require your help, because I can't find my home right now!" he roared in delight, assuming he was having a exciting religious experience. After all, how many people could brag that they'd directly held a conversation with their deity in the sky?

"You see, Tengri, I have lost my way because I can't read the street signs! I mean-- you already knew that, because you know everything, but I need your help." The Mongol collapsed onto his knees as he blathered up to the sky, his green eyes glowing with evident excitement.

He was still gazing up when he noticed that there was something -- no, someone -- standing just near him. Bataar paused in his screaming to the sky and observed CuiYan with confusion, his held tilted just so as he tried to figure out where the student had materialized from. He failed to find an explanation, however, and was merely left staring rudely. "I'm sorry, but... do I know you?" he finally chanced, his expression all innocence. He hadn't the slightest idea as to why this guy should be so near him when everyone else appeared to be making a point of avoiding him.

Where are you looking?

If this situation was in a comic book, CuiYan would be tripping at the other man's out of ordinary reaction to his inquiry. One side of his mouth's corner twitched at Bataar's further loudness, finding it increasingly ridiculous and annoying. Cui was split between just walking away and never bother again and stabbing the beast while he was not looking, but he had no time to decide on neither when Bataar had finally recognized his presence. The timing was, however, a bit unfortunate. Cui was caught off guard by his sudden change of attention and failed to react fast enough to appear natural. The young man was left to merely stare at the big stranger with a half-smiling face, while his mind worked diligently for a rightful response.

"Do you know me? Hmm."
Setting his fingers on his chin, Cui repeated the beast's final words, a good strategy to use when running out of creative things to say. "I suppose you do not, but..." The young man's brain quickly shuffled through Bataar's seemingly nonsense words for ideas, then a light hit him, and made Cui grin.

"But I do know you are lost. You see."
He did not understand what this Tengri person was, but Cui assumed he was someone this beast would listen to. "The wise Tengri had heard your call, and have sent me here to help. Now I am going to ask again---how may I help you?"

It sounded absolutely ridiculous to Cui's ears. If this was any normal, intelligent creature that he was dealing with, this lie would not hold very long. But for this beast, it was a gamble. Cui's hand sneaked up and held the sheath of his sword. If Bataar saw through his lie, he'd have to be prepared to defend himself.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 07, 2010 7:30 am

Bataar observed CuiYan, his green eyes searching as he tried to put together a face and a name for the stranger; clearly, he was failing, however. He looked a little relieved that his short term memory hadn’t failed him when the other Noble confessed that Bat didn’t actually know him. The Mongolian man had no idea of what was to come, however, from the lips of his literal godsend. Actually, it was kind of funny, because the student standing just next to him sounded exactly like Tengri had when he’d spoken to the oaf just moments before. The practical thing would have been for Bat to dissect the situation and realize that it had been Cui all along, but he was hardly a practical man.

His eyes widened in realization as Cui confessed that Tengri had sent him specifically to help Bataar, and he looked suddenly nothing short of worshipful. He reached a hand out, brushing the young man’s hair in awe, an Aztec who had just come into contact with a conquistadore, a veritable god—but one that would surely lead him to his demise. ”My yurt.” he said, trying to explain himself in the presence of his deity. ”I got lost and now I can’t find where I live.”

His expression was nothing short of sparkling, and it was becoming increasingly clear that he was considering kissing the very ground that Cui walked upon. Tengri had, after all, sent his savior; to the best of his knowledge, this must be Tengri in human form!

What he didn’t know was that he’d just come into contact with an egotistical young man—one that was more than willing to take advantage of his fervent praise.

Just, keep, smiling.

Seeing how the beast took his word for real was definitely something good to CuiYan. Yet, the young man could not feel comfortable at all in this situation. First, he had never told such an unbelievably fake lie (and the guy believed it! for God's sake! ), which was an insult in the first place to Cui's self-assumed intelligent and high-class mind. Second, he had told Bataar that he was sent by this God the beast had believed in, but what was the second step? Bataar and told him that he was lost, but there was definitely no way Cui would be able to know where the man was going in the first place, and where his yurt was.

And what the heck was a yurt in the first place?? Another crushing insult to Cui's mind. He should have known!

Aside from blaming himself for his lack of knowledge to barbarian culture Cui had to think of something fast. The overreacting admiration from the big man caused Cui to retreat a little in his steps. What should he call it...the beast certainly creeped him out, not because of his size nor his strength, but the way Bataar looked at him, those eyes, the stance, the sincerity in his tone...

Did he see stars in his eyes? Cui wondered if he was too tired from handling this beast already.

The young man coughed lightly, shaking his head as he chuckled at both the man's blind worship and his own idiocy for getting himself in such a trouble. "Do not worry, my friend. I will do what I can to help. Now, to start out, may I know your yurt's location?"

Well, he offered help, there was no backing down now.

Bataar had no idea that his gullible nature was so very revolting, nor was he likely to figure it out at any point soon. If he’d known how ridiculous he was acting, he might have found himself rather endearing in the first place. Whatever the case, the Mongol had found Cui’s story quite believable and his worshipful expression was unmatched in zeal. Clearly he wanted nothing more than to start building a small shrine near his yurt exclusively for CuiYan.

Bat actually looked a little upset when Cui backed away, and his green eyes were transformed into tragic saucers. He wanted to be as close to his deity as he possibly could—which meant physical contact, when the option was available. And after they were properly acquainted, he could ask for an increase in muscle mass, because obviously Tengri could gift him with such a thing in the form of this young man.

Obviously, the student had no idea what he was getting into, because for Bataar there were no limits to his zealous nature. Tengri was already an object of his affections, and if this guy was some sort of version of the god in corporeal form, Bat was sure to torture him in the form of love and affection, maybe all the way down to kissing his toes, if he liked!

And Tengri was going to help him! ”Well, most of the time I live in Kyung’s courtyard…” he muttered with some degree of uncertainty, his lips pursing. Bataar’s lack of direction couldn’t have been more evident as he thought about it—and came up short.

This would be a troublesome search indeed.

Smiling for so long was making Cui's face feel rather sore. That, or it was because he was having a hard time handling the sparkling-tear-inducing-doe-eyes that Bataar was giving him. He had to stop faking this smile, it was exhausting him, and it was certainly digging a hole deeper than he was handle. Yet, Cui knew he must uphold a friendly expression. He had already gone too far, his lies were already too truthful to the beast. If he were to falter, Cui would not doubt that his life would be in danger.

The young man nodded, his chin resting on his fingers, pretending that he was deep in thought. In actuality, Cui had no idea who this Kyung person was, but if he had a courtyard, that must mean he was not a commoner, which meant this beast in front of him, who happened to live inside of the home of a high-class individual, must had some sort of status. That, or Bataar was a servant, which seemed more likely. Cui could not help but to scan the beast from head to toe while his mind was in conflict of deciding which path to take. The man's outfit was not that of a rich man, but it also had an intimidating air, which meant Bataar was in no way a commoner. Unable to decide a status on the man Cui sighed, eventually realizing that whether he was rich or poor didn't matter much in the situation. The most important thing was, he was big, and in need of help, and Cui happened to fell victim due to unforeseen circumstances.

"Kyung?" Cui questioned further, allowing his mild curiosity take over his fake smile for the moment so his face would take a break. "I'm afraid I need more information, if you don't mind. For example...who is this person, and where is his courtyard?"

Cui had the suspicion that the man would not be very helpful in the latter part of the question, but he could use all relevant information. Tengri, he hoped, was not an all-knowing god.

CuiYan’s smile struck delight within Bataar’s heart, to say the least. Here he was, standing right before his gracious deity, and he was being offered help. He was too gullible to even suspect that the student might be some sort of fake, or that there might be a lie behind the piercing eyes he was gazing into so adoringly. He was busy treasuring this moment, making it into his own and clutching it tightly to his very soul. It was, after all, Tengri standing just before him, and not some random guy. Chances were, even if Cui revealed himself now, Bat would have a lot of trouble believing he was a fake.

He listened patiently to Cui’s questions, unaware that he was being appraised in an attempt to determine his social status. In truth, his social stance was rather ambiguous, but rather useless in a city of this magnitude. His clan had been a nomadic one before he’d arrived here, and there had been a harsh sort of equality within, perhaps transcended by his mother’s position as a powerful shaman. In this place, he probably was equal to one of the rats that he loved so much, although he had no idea himself and carried himself quite casually with anyone and everyone. That was just how things were with Bat.

”Kyung… Most of the time I think he is a girl, but he has a very big house!” the Mongol declared, twiddling his thumbs as if trying to call up more in the way of information for this god of his. ”It is—I think—an estate.” he added, clearly deep in thought and struggling with the matter. Bat had never been the most observant creature in the world, as was made clear by his general behavior, but it had to be absolutely ridiculous that he couldn’t even remember just where he lived half of the time.

He didn’t even realize that he was explaining things to an omniscient figure.

The green-haired Lunarian raised an eyebrow at the queer description of "Kyung". A girly man with a big house...an estate? The first thought that flashed in Cui's head was the word "wealth". Indeed, it sounded like the beast resided with someone rich. The thought confirmed his previous deduction about Kyung, but did not help any further. Cui eyed Bataar with mild curiousity now, still trying to figure out the man's status. From the way the big man had described the place, it was unlikely Bataar was a servant. After all, a servant would not address his master with such blatancy. Yet, Cui could not imagine the beast to be on the same status as him. He had a reason, why would a noble live in another rich man's courtyard?

With his fingers rubbing at his chin the spark of amusement could be seen shining in his eyes. The young man no longer felt fear, and dropped his guard, overcome by the emerging wonder. Cui was surprised himself about how much he wanted to know about Bataar, to know someone so intimidating and unpleasant. No, it was not because he was interested in the beast, it was only to satisfy his own curiosity.

Cui's fake smile faded with the thought as his mind relaxed, his expression replaced by that of consideration. Perhaps, if he did help Bataar find his home, Cui would be able to find out more about who the man actually was. The beast had mentioned something sort of an estate, which was a definite clue on where Kyung was located.

"An estate? Do you mean the noble estate, my friend?" Cui inquired, testing his guess. If Bataar had taken the word by face value, which Cui suspect he did, the man should not call any other houses by estate unless the word was in its name.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:58 am

Bataar grinned down to his idol, completely unaware that hints to his status were being dissected at a rapid pace in the student’s head. It was probably true that he wouldn’t have cared if he had known, for it was clear that he was quite enraptured. His own social standing was probably rather odd in the first place, seeing as he had taken up residence near the Imperial City quite recently. These thoughts, though, were ones that never troubled Bat. He’d come out of an egalitarian clan; no one man was specifically above another, at least in matters of wealth. The only thing that differentiated status was knowledge, physical skill, and perhaps the blessing of Tengri—and CuiYan must certainly have been a blessing upon Bataar!

He was happy that Cui seemed pleased, and his idiotic grin grew by a few centimeters. Besides that, the Lunarian standing in front of him had to be the most qualified person to help him retrieve the location of his yurt. Bat paid careful attention to the student’s question, nodding his head firmly once he’d thought it out.

”Yes. That must be it!” he declared, an expression of determination reshaping his facial features. Of course, this fact didn’t help out Bat himself very much. Whether he regularly resided around the noble estates or not wasn’t something he could transform into directions. He supposed that the all-knowing being standing in front of him definitely could, though, and that kept the look in the hulking man’s eyes tranquil.

CuiYan was going to help him find his way home, because he’d been sent from the gods!

It seemed to go well. Cui nodded to himself, convinced that he had tamed this beast quite effectively. However, it was not time to rejoice: the task was not done, and Cui could not feel a sense of safety return as long as Bataar was still with him. He had spoke a great lie, it would take a lot of cover it up and maintain this peaceful relationship.

"Ahh, good, we have a good start."
Cuiyan's fake smile returned, although partially in relief. "Indeed, I am quite familiar with the noble estate." Thank goodness it was the noble estate, Cui wasn't sure if he wanted to be this beast's enemy. At the same time, the old question returned. Bataar was a noble, or at least he was affiliated with the noble side, was it because of this Kyung person, or did he have power influence on his own? Of course, if the beast did, Cui heard nothing of it.

"Follow me then, my friend, I will take you to the noble estate."
The young noble smiled at Bataar, gesturing him to follow. He did not, however, proceed to walk on, for Cui was mindful of the man walking behind him. Instead, he positioned himself to Bataar's side so that he could keep an eye on the man at all times.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 25, 2010 7:19 am

Bataar grinned down at Cuiyan, his green eyes glittering. He was very pleased with himself for meeting so great a person and resolved to listen to each and every word spoken by the young man. Bat was practically a dog yearning to obey his master, but it couldn't have been less obvious given his ridiculous size and stature.

The worshipful man nodded eagerly as the student intoned that they'd at least made a good start of sorts. Of course they had! This was definitely all thanks to Tengri himself, and Bat saw it as a sign that the gods very clearly favored him. He found his elation increased quite a lot as the young man mentioned that he was actually familiar with the noble estates. That was another good sign-- one Bat took to mean that Cuiyan was also on his side.

The Mongol trotted steadily along beside Cuiyan, following the other male's commands with perfect obedience. The sooner he found his yurt, along with Kyung, the happier he'd be. Bat may have been lost, but he could at least take comfort from the fact that he was not alone. Tengri would surely reveal where he ought to go.

"But, you know, I always thought you'd be a little more manly."
