Next saturaday im going to my first lolita meetp biggrin Im verry excited indeed,which got me thinking 'Do other older lolitas remember their first meet up?' So my question here today is What was YOUR first lolita meetup like?? Did you parents worry? Did they insist on comming with you (like my mom is)??What did you wear? Do you remember any distinct conversations,expirences, thoughts that you had?? What was the event?? (A cookie swap,teaparty ect...) How old were you?? How old was everyone else?? Just any details you can remember.

I organized my first meetup because my mom didn't want me to go to another city to meet with people I met online. So, we met in my tiny small town, went out for boba tea and took pictures at the park. Mostly we just hung out. I was wearing my second brand clothing outfit, a blue scallop JSK, headbow and socks from BTSSB, Innocent World blouse, and montreal shoes. I think I was 15 or 16 at the time. My mom wanted to go but agreed not to since I was in my own town. She still goes with me to some lolita stuff in San Francisco and I'm 21 haha but it's cool because she wanted to see the BTSSB boutique. I just remember being terrified because at that time I was still pretty shy and meeting new people based on nothing other than clothing was kind of a strange idea to me. Overall though it was really fun. I'm sure you'll have a good time at yours! From that meetup:

Meeting with lolitas can be a bit difficult for me at times, due to the fact that I'm mildly agoraphobic. I become severely anxious in unfamiliar public places, and have an irrational fear of throwing up in front of people, or being trapped somewhere that I can't escape. Because of this, I typically do not eat when I am at meet-ups [unless I'm in a familiar restaurant, or someone else's home], and often insist on being the one who drives. This ... makes things a bit troublesome at times, and made my few first meet-ups rather nerve-wracking.
My first two "meet-ups" were actually one-on-one outings with other lolitas, so that helped immensely. I was an adult already, in college, and twenty-two. So no. My mother didn't come with me. haha
I met with Valerie first, for coffee at a cafe because the meet-up we were going to go to got "snowed out." There was a blizzard that kept us from going downtown to meet the other girls who had planned a get together. They went to a museum in Forest Park, in St. Louis, and we stayed in St. Charles for coffee. This was an easy solution, and a good one for me, since her mother's house was near where my older brother lives [which is where I was staying]. I had been into lolita for quite a while already, but never met any of the others in my area [we were all very spread out], so I was very nervous. I remember having a white chocolate mocha latte and biscotti [because the coffee gave me a stomach ache and I was scared I'd be sick!], and I think she had hot chocolate and a cookie. After I calmed down a bit, everything was actually quite fine. We sat for two hours talking while the snow came down, and got along really well.
Before she arrived, I ordered my coffee and such, and the owner of the coffee shop asked me if I was "one of those Irish dancers". He said that I looked very pretty, which was very reassuring. I wore the warmest lolita coordinate I owned against the snow [down to flannel bloomers underneath and white knee-high boots!] and went all out to make a good impression.
The second time I went out with another lolita rather than on my own was to meet with Jessie, a friend of Valerie's who lived closer to where I was going to school. I wore white and blue, and flannel bloomers again [because it was February and still freezing]. She and I went for coffee in downtown Columbia, MO, went shopping for a while, and had lunch. The day ended with me at her house, playing with her cats and talking until the semi-late hours of the night. I left around eight, when a snowstorm blew in. I drove home in nasty sleet, snow, and rain for an hour and a half. Scary stuff.
My first honest to goodness, big-group meet-up was in August that same year. I planned it, and invited anyone in the area to come. Valerie came with me, and we got dressed together and were inseparable all day. Christy, Kate B., Chi-wen and a few girls who came from outside of the area met us at the zoo, and two other girls missed us by a mere five minutes.
One girl drove all the way from Indiana with her mother and sister for it [they separated to explore the zoo and left her with us]. She had made her own outfit. Another girl came with her mother, but because she was in a wheelchair and needed the help, more or less. A third girl came with her grandmother, and had only found out about lolita two weeks prior. She didn't dress up, but came in a nice skirt and blouse, to meet us and see the fashion in person.
We explored the St. Louis zoo, rode the carousel, then had a picnic in Forest Park--and all of us got a bit sunburned, too.
I am still really good friends with Valerie, Kate, Christy, Chi-wen and Jessie to this day. (:

My first real lolita meet up that WASNT at an anime convention, I too set up myself, I was tired of people hosting meet ups on days I couldn't go... so I organized my own meet up to the DC National Zoo. ^_^ We had a blast, and an old high school friend of mine even showed up without me knowing it. Haha! ^_^ I look awful (I'm in all black with short crazy blond hair), and for a lot of us it was our first meet up. And now my Zoo Meet Up is an annual or bi-annual meet up that everyone looks forward to. My parents just thought I looked like a freak walking out the door, and I drove myself to the metro alone, rode the metro alone and walked from the metro to the front of the zoo alone. All the while listening to my ipod and ignoring people. One girl, the one in the cute white and purple JSK and RHS had her father come with her, he left us alone and walked the zoo on his own only checked in with us a few times. She was the best dressed that day and I envied her outfit. Another girl came with her brother who left us alone mostly, she had this adorable strawberry wa-lolita dress from bodyline that I swooned over. The only conversation I really remember having was one girl being obsessing over me and my outfit, bloomers, and kinda inappropriate things, but I'm not sure if she was just socially awkward and didn't know how to act, or if she was hitting on me... T.T I ALSO wore the WRONG shoes, those little black booties... the zoo is built on a hill, and walking down was fine, it was walking back up to the exit that killed me, I trailed about 20 feet behind the group.

Ah, I remeber my first meet up smile It was rather interesting and fun. My friend was organizing it and I was helping a bit. I mostly bought the prizes and such. My mom didn't really worry because the meet up was close to my house smile Most of the girls who went go to college with me. But there were 2 I did not know and they were quite friendly. Although the first thing they asked when they saw me and 4 other girls "You girls like Angelic Pretty don't you?" It was true >.< We all wore our brand dresses

I'm not sure if this would count as my first meet-up, but this summer a group of my friends are meeting at an amusement park, everyone who is able to wearing lolita. Only two of us normally wear lolita at all, so this should be interesting.

Last november I went to my first not-just-my-loli-friends meet at PMX. We walked over to denny's and talked for hours. It was very chill and fun. Our seating/food took forever, but we passed time talking, a few girls were showing off their awesome tats, and taking a bunch of pictures c:
I'm excited for whatever meets happen for AX - theres always a ton of people ♥

You were there? Hah. We probably spoke and I didn't even realize it. Or maybe I did ... and I've forgotten, because I'm kind of flakey about names. ^^;;
Ooooor ... we may have been too far apart, since the group was so big.

Wrong end of the table. Damn. ): I was the one sitting down by Air, the Nana cosplayer. I wore pink and blue and a headbow that looked idiotic on me, and was one of the girls who had the big camera.
