Le Gaspe. Its not actually french, but oh well. Si, ce la vie de l'ecole. The life of the school. More of a collection of back-ground stories developing the surroundings, my characters and some of the races found around here. The more how should I put this... separate or related but not at the same time, fanfics will be posted at www.fictionpress.com. I'll probably include links to them, as well as current pen names and the story name's as well.
We'll start off with a short excerpt explaining a bit more about Georgia's family as well as introducing the now deceased Willow. Then we'll move on to a rather important short about Ninotchka's travels to another parallel plane... Important as in it might come up in an event tying into the school's past sort of important. I'll add an index after my first few posts- the glowing words in the index will be links to posts on other pages while the ones not linked will likely be on this page.

INDEX:
(1.) Willow Meeting Georgia [rough draft]
(2.) Ninotchka's Fragmented Past [rough draft]

(1.) Willow Meeting Georgia (1.)
[Rough Draft]

"Your aunty's coming to visit children," My mother had said calmly the night before, when she tucked us in.
Fred was still living at home at that point, and Darwin was still alive. It would be several years until Fred moved out, a year after I'd discover fire, about three years after that is when Darwin was killed. I still remember aunty, and I remember this day in particular because without this day having happened- I'd never have met any of them.
I'd woken up early that morning, which was about five o'clock or so for me. For my brother Darwin, five was half-way through his tide cycle. For Vanya it was time for her to rest- She always got up at dawn, never earlier never later, always just as the first beams broke over the surface of the horizon. Fred was the only other one awake, I noticed that when I came down stairs to find him in the kitchen drinking hot cocoa at the table.
"Morning Willow," He said as he made an engraving in the top of the table using one fiery finger.
We share a power, but I've been told I'm weak. I couldn't control my powers when I was fifteen, I can't control my powers now.
"Morning Fred, where's mum and dad?" I asked, taking a seat across from him and observing him.
They're all so strong, and I was always so weak: but I learned I'm only as weak as I think I am. It still doesn't change a thing, because I didn't know it then and if I had I wouldn't have been as envious.
Fred was the strongest and eldest, he's was the silver fire his 'family' name Mercury. Vanya was the second eldest controlling flora and earth, Vanya is her 'family' name- Susan is her given name. From there its Darwin 'Fisk' controlling water, then me, followed by Caitlin another water controller, Eric whom controls earth and flora, then Dylan whom controls water as well.
I was the odd one, I was given the name of Emily-Anne but the 'family' name of Willow. Willow. Its wood. Its opposite my nature. I hated it, I really did. Everyone else in our family had strong powers and strong control and they were all perfect- Knowing how to do something they'd never done before and creating new ways of doing what they'd already done!
This was before I realized that, and now, I'm happy that it played the way it did.
"They're meeting Aunt Georgia," Fred replied absently as he drew the forest.
Perhaps I should've explained before, we're not entirely human. Mum isn't, she's half-siblings with Georgia Du Phane. The Georgia Du Phane. In her race, that's a really big deal. For humans, not so much. I'm not sure what they are- what we are-but I know Aunt Georgia is over three hundred years of age and mum's over one hundred. Anyway, the forest is a portal to one of the hidden realms I've never been there because I'm not worthy but I know they've carried me through there twice. Once when I was born, and again when I died. When your born your taken there and your 'family' name is chosen by the elders, because we aren't entirely human but not so alien as mum and aunty, our 'family' names were translated into the human middle name. Hence, I'm Emily-Anne Willow Smith. Now, on with the meeting.
"When will they be back?" I asked as Fred ignored me, his head shooting up as Vanya walked in.
"Vanya you're up," Fred shouted happily, he and Vanya were like twins, she was always his height and they looked and acted much the same but they were two years apart and near opposite elements.
"Yea Fred, been up for a while... Where's mum and dad?" She asked, reiterating my question from before and shooting me a glance.
Except for Vanya and Darwin, most of my siblings treated me as if I were a piece of gum stuck to their shoes- that is-until I got my powers. Then I was dirt, but Darwin and Vanya stayed on.
"They're meeting Aunt Georgia by the forest and going to be discussing some things with the elders before returning back here," Fred replied, making my heart beat unhappily in my chest: treated like gum once more, treated like a stupid child- Not that I wasn't.
"Come on Will," Vanya whispered in my ear, tugging on my t-shirt.
I stood silently and followed her, we went out the door through the yard and down the street. Then it became a blurry memory. After that all I remember was being in the outskirts of the forest and seeing mum and dad and Aunty talking to some others. Some how I was separated from Vanya and began to wander lost in the brush. It tore at my limbs and ripped my clothing while tears stung my eyes. I remember sitting down and crying with my back to a gigantic tree. I remember Aunt Georgia somehow finding me, then I remember this.
"Dear child why do you cry?" She asked me, kneeling to wipe at my tears and upturning my face so she got a good look at me.
"I'm worthless and lost!" I replied, knowing I was indeed worthless having none of the things which made my siblings so well loved, and knowing indeed that I was lost.
"Look around you Willow," Aunty Georgia said, I'll never know how she knew it was me, "What do you see."
"A forest," I said between my sobs as they began to slow and the time between each became greater and greater.
"Now tell me, how can one be lost if one knows one is in a forest?" She asked, stumping me before hugging me tight and helping me to stand, "Come now, let's get you to your siblings.... Would it make you feel better if I showed you some cards?"
I didn't reply, she already had the cards out and before my face. These were no ordinary cards, they were magic and able to see where the heart wants to be. I didn't know it at the time, but the place I was looking at was destined to be the place where I'd eventually be. I suppose I followed my heart. But I know I loved it, it was a forest, a forest of small and thin trees and all around it moved shadows. Aunty explained to me that those shadows were the shadows of my future, the shadows of my past, the shadows which gave way to flames.

(2.) Ninotchka's Fragmented Past (2.)
[Rough Draft]
[Note: Nina is Ninotchka, and they're not speaking english but they're speaking the same language so its written as english.]

"Set the containers down by the others Number 207," Commander 14 shouted his instructions, "And you! Number 32! Get off your a** and scan for threats! Number 21 capture those savages! I want to see environmental readings, those crates, and those damned savages in five minutes or I'll off you all!"
The small squadron of elites quickly set to work; moving packages as they fell through the dimensional rip, scanning local flora and fauna, getting readings of local power levels, and capturing the people whom had witnessed their coming. In two minutes time everything number 14 had ordered was done and the base was well on its way to being fully set-up and operational.
"32 I want those readings!" 14 shouted as he adjusted his hat and glared at 21, "21 what the hell are you doing!?"
"Sir! This savage has powers! I'm following your orders!" The young woman responded as she tackled the man trying to escape, wrestling him binding him and gagging him: it was rather simple for her she knew how to crush their powers.
"Good work 21, keep it up and maybe you'll survive to make it out of this backwards hell hole. Now, pack him and the others up and send them back for research. 32! I want those readings now!" 14 shouted, pulling out a pistol locking and loading aimed at 32.
"Electrical scannings indicate that only the columns have electricity. Bio threat is at fifty, but there's nothing to indicate a problem. Paranormal power scanners indicate we're approximately 1,000 clicks away from the next major pocket, with the largest being about 40,000 clicks sir!" 32 reported as she looked over the readings, "There's indication that some savages might be hiding half a mile into this island."
"God dammit!" 14 responded turning to number 21 and shooting her in the shoulder, "You b***h! I want you and 207 to head out and retrieve them. Maybe then we'll see about healing you!"
"Yes sir," 21 and 207 responded, saluting 14, 207 used his right arm but 21 used her left due to the damage to her right.
The two quickly ran off, heading east about a fourth mile before entering a small forest.
"Nina, are you alright?" 207, Yuri, asked quietly.
"207 we've gone through worse then this, I'll be fine," Nina responded in a monotone: it was true they'd gone through much worse then that.
In basic training they'd been starved and whipped to a point of near death, then forced to complete twenty-five grueling tasks. Being female, 21 and 32 had had a harder ride being raped and beaten every night. They'd watched their cell-mates and friends die, helped to kill them, then been strung up and lashed themselves for showing the slightest emotion. At times they're own powers and magics would rage and kill those around them, at times they were forced to fight one another for the right to live. Obedience was beaten into them, loyalty was burned into their minds, respect was written across their skin and instinct was often the one thing which kept them all alive. Some, like Yuri, managed to stay human and sane, others, like his sister Nina, went insane and became almost mechanical.
The two walked through the forest, Nina bleeding all the way and Yuri staring at his sister sadly.
"Nina. Do you remember when you and I used to play in the forests? And I'd hide and you'd hide and we'd scare one another?" Yuri asked receiving no response from Nina, "Why can't we do that again? We're free, we can run and hide! And if someone comes after us we'll just turn them to our side or kill them! How about that sister?"
Ninotchka turned to him, her dark eyes flashing as she pulled out the gun, which they all had to carry, and shot her brother in the arm just as she had.
"That's against the code, bring that up again and next time these bullets will find themselves in your head," She threatened him, getting in close and picking him up by the collar while holding the gun to his neck, "Understood?"
"Y-Yes," Yuri replied, he'd hoped his sister would've remembered but he had found himself wrong.
21 didn't respond verbally, but instead dropped him two inches down on the ground and put her gun away, then she began to walk once more. Finding the savages wasn't hard to do once they began looking, in fact, the three savages missed probably were so because they had been playing by a creek. They were children. This did not stop 21 from immediately applying pressure to them using magic. Nor did it stop her from tackling one while shooting another in the leg. It did, however, hinder her brother whom remembered a day very similar to what was currently happening. He did find enough strength to tie up the last child before binding the wounded one's wound. 21 was eager to move again and gagged the children, knocking the wounded one out and throwing them over Yuri's shoulder, then tying the other two in a line and marching them between her and Yuri. The children cried but she did not hear them, she could not for if she heard those children cry it would kill her- the pain of it all, their situation so akin to her and her brother's, the guilt of hurting them and sending them to certain death and the pain and guilt of everything else she'd done in her twenty or so years of life. Her coldness was her shield.
Upon returning to base, she sent the children through the rip though Yuri first healed the wounded one using his magic. 21 did not even notice, how could she when her brother was also her shield? The two then reported in.
"You've got them then?" 14 sternly said as he waved his gun about, "It's about time. Now tell me, why is 207 hurt...?"
"Sir. It was b-" Yuri began, stopping as Nina applied pressure to him.
"Sir, it's my fault sir. Accidental misfire sir," 21 responded, no emotion's in her face or her voice, "It won't happen again sir."
"An accidental misfire? You expect me to believe that! You misfired and shot 207 in the shoulder and you call that an accident!" 14 shouted angrily as he loomed over 21 by a few inches, "I don't know what your hiding but we will not tolerate that sort of screw up!" 14 began to beat 21 with the butt of his gun, leaving large bruises all over her body.
In the end she was bruised and beaten, bleeding from many places and shot again in the elbow. 207 got off with a lashing and both of them lived. While 207 was allowed to sleep in camp in a tent, 21 was left on the ground outside, tied with her hands behind her back. 32 came out that night before it began to rain and put food down before 21, though she could not eat it.
"21, thing's will be better soon- I can't tell you how, but it will be better soon. Get some rest," 32 gently whispered as she cleaned 21's face of blood then left.
As soon as darkness took hold, it began to rain it poured and poured and the dirt 21 was lying on became thick mud with water on top. She stayed on her side until the water invaded her nose and mouth, then she turned on her back.
The morning brought new heat and light, showing the extensive damage to Nina's body. No blood had caked thanks to the rain, but thin lines and large gashes were clearly shown, the further toward the back they went the dirtier they became and the larger as well. Her back and hair was caked with mud and her eyes were wide and open though she clearly slept. The collar around her neck was responsible for keeping her alive it replaced all blood she lost as she lost it, but the thought remained in her sad little mind. What if her collar had broken like so many before? The collars were always placed on just before a beating and sometimes they were damaged, then the blood would flow and the person more often then not, died. Even if that had happened it was worth it.

(3.) Death of Cherry (3.)

‘They’re coming mother, the people, they’ve brought they’re magics and they’re coming to clear the forest. Let me go mother, so I stop them!’ Laris the fiery pleaded with The Mother Tree, ‘Mother Oak begs you to allow us to stop them! Hinder them as much as we can and give the trees the time they need to clear!’
‘No Laris, son of Oak, we shall not hurt the humans. They show no sign of destroying us as they others have. We shall wait and we shall listen,” The Mother Tree responded with a shake of her mighty branches.
‘Birds are afraid Mother, its a sign we should act quickly!’ Another of her sons shouted.
‘We can’t risk them burning the children!’
‘But if we don’t attack they’ll cut them down!’
A thousand other voices joined the fray, shouting their opinions and dividing the clearing into three distinct parts. A nymph’s small voice was lost to the shouting till young Argna of The Mother Birch. A Belle-Morte of wisdom, one of such whom should have been given to Mother Willow, and courage she was quick to scream. For she knew what the dying nymphs words were.
‘Mother Cherry is no more! Sickness has taken her at last and this, her last act, is of peace. Make peace, she says, send one to talk and ask to wait. If they refuse, she’s said, move them to her home, tell them to clear her grove and build on the meadow they’ve lived in,’ Argna shouted over the roar as a silence came over, ‘Her nymph is here, but her nymph is so close to death mother and no daughter tree has grown! Great Mother! What shall do?’
‘A daughter has been named. A daughter has been hidden, is that not so Dante?’ The Great Mother asked her nymph standing so high above her lowest branches.
‘She’s hidden and young, they fear sickness shall take her as well. So they’ve tied her to a boy so near to death as her mother, and taken the children, with aide of older nymph’s, to a place unknown even to I,’ Dante replied as she took the wind into her nostrils, and gasped, ‘Daughter Cherry has suffered injury, never may her nymph talk, never shall we know.’
‘Mother Cherry has died, but she has given us a plan Great Mother. We would do well to honor her by putting her plan into action before her nymph takes their last breath,’ Raine child of Willow shouted.
‘No Great Mother, it is their trees whom invaded our home, their trees whom carried sickness, and their trees whom have led to the death of Mother Cherry!’ Laris shouted from his side of the clearing, his voice ringing loud and crystal.
‘Enough! I have made my decision, and chosen to send Dante, Argna, Laris, Sand, and Tibore as a diplomatic party,’ The Great Mother boomed, her voice silencing those around her, ‘We shall honor the fallen mother.’
As the wind blew that day nearly 700 years ago, the fate of dear Cherrie’s meadow was decided. The Mythic Counsel struck bargain with the trees and Monday’s Briar was built of stone. It is yet unknown what became of the Cherry trees empty husks, but some think that their dying nymphs buried themselves after building their trees into the very walls.

(4.) Solitary Leaf (4.)

'Young child dry your eyes, no death has known your kind. For life in these limbs is not life at all but an extension of Mother. Once, before, when you were truly living the life which all humans have lived- you were a solitary leaf, just one leaf on the tree of life. But mother has changed that, the shifting winds brought child and child here under her branches. Child abandoned to starve, and child lost to the wilds: both are the same here. With careful eyes Mother sees all, and takes little human into her arms to sleep. Her link is formed and the bond is made, no death no life but soul breaking way summoned back and tied with the unbreakable glue of Mother's energy. No longer is child human, no longer do they live, no longer are they a solitary leaf: they are Belle Morte, and defenders of the Mothers so alien to their race. Can you hear the trees speaking now? They whisper very gently. Whimpering as their comrades fall to the silence of the forceful ax. It is this we must prevent. It is the Mother's we must help. For it is our duty to find passage for Mother's kind. Passage to their home. Do you understand your existence now? They have preserved our soul, we must preserve them as they find their way home. To the Hollow of Life where the Ganthium grows by the streams and sprouts from the lake. Where beasts of great beauty and prowess go forth to create and survive in the lands beyond that glade. For the Mother, make your unlife useful. Dry your eyes and stand little brother.' -Ganet of Oak, 1933.

(5.) Georgia Du Phane's Family (5.)

Georgia has a younger half sister named Lizzy Smith (nee Du Phane) whom is her half sister by their father.
Lizzy Smith (nee Du Phane) married Eric Smith, they have seven (7?) children of the following ages (current) and powers:
-Fred 'Mercury' Smith, age 32. Fire/Metal manipulator.
-Susan 'Vanya' Silver (nee Smith), 29. Flora/Earth manipulator.
-Darwin 'Fisk' Smith, 26-deceased, homicide. Water manipulator.
-Emily-Anne Willow Smith, 25-deceased, homicide. Fire manipulator.
-Caitlin June Smith, 22. Water manipulator.
-Eric (Jr.) Ulf Smith, 18. Flora/earth manipulator.
-Dylan Jason Smith, 15. Water manipulator.
The family (Lizzy, Dylan, Caitlin, Eric, Eric) lives in the Rye-Ivy Village. Fred and Susan live in Argo. Darwin and Emily's remains are buried in Rye-Ivy, in their families private cemetery. The causes of their deaths are as follows:
Darwin: homicide, corded and puppeted before being gutted while visiting Argo city. Date of death: aprox four years ago.
Emily: homicide, burned to death by own powers after being held captive force feed power enhancers, beaten and broken by a rouge. Date of death: aprox four years ago.
Other then Lizzy and the Smiths, Georgia lacks family. Her father was killed by one of his mistresses, whom later killed herself. Her mother died of illness.
Outside of her actual blood relatives, Georgia considers Ninotchka as a family member. This is for many reasons, one being that the teacher was very close to both Darwin and Emily, another being that she and Darwin exchanged blood shortly before his death.
After the death of Darwin, followed by Emily, Georgia began to search for their souls in hopes of capturing them and releasing them back into the forest: more particularly, back into the world both their mother and she was born in. Perhaps she hopes to resurrect them.
Emily has been resurrected and placed in a human body once before, however, for some reason or another her soul rejected the host body and she died a second time.
It is unknown if Georgia has any children of her own, however she did and does treat her nieces and nephews as her own.
