After the hatching, Therion had skittered around for a while -- the eggs were amazing and Feynath kind of made his knees go weak...that Queen was just beautiful. After taking care of his flits and sneaking a little food from the kitchens, he went in search of Lothan -- he needed to do some manly "squee-ing" and then talk his brother into making him a new tunic or something.
He really wanted to dress up for Inaari. Badly.

Lothan was hanging around the Candidate's dorms; there weren't too many others here right now, and he just bet that Ther would be along shortly. It was the way of things. When something big happened, they'd share it; and this was big for both of them. Loth, at least, was still walking on air after the touching; he kept touching his finger together, remembering and savoring the smooth warmth of the eggshells against his skin. Oh man, oh man, he needed to tell Ther, and he'd bet his shirt that Ther was just about the same right now.

It didn't take the big-boned youth long to locate Lothan - they'd always had this strange sort of...knack for finding each other. Ther bobbed into the dorms and found Loth, grinning his fool head off. "Oh man, that was - that was just intense wasn't it? Feynath-- and then the eggs--"
His scarred hands were fluttering in a manner that was decidedly un-manly but spoke of a deep excitement: a Touching was a Big Deal for a weyrbrat...the culmination of years of wanting...dreaming. The only thing more incredible would be the Hatching...Impressing your own dragon.

"Yeah, man -- I said, I don't even know what I said, I hope she liked it -- and the eggs, yeah -- " Lothan's hands fluttered in a mirroring pattern, and his eyes shone. His grin stopped just one notch short of manic. The eggs, and getting to touch them -- a dream come true, like imagination turned impossibly real. Only one thing better. Only one thing.
"Which ones did you? I mean, not like they talk, but. Did you hear?" Incoherent, perhaps, but Therion would know what he meant. He'd just about die of embarrassment if anyone caught him sounding like this, but Ther was different; Ther understood, and wouldn't tease him. Not for this.

"They were like, all...so much, you know? All of them had this...energy." They were dorks, absolutely...but they understood each other and that was good because with as amped as they both currently were, it wasn't like they were going to be the greatest conversationalists ever.
"I don't know, I kind of liked that upside-down one, that was awesome...and that tiny egg, by the Gold? Hilarious oh man, it was like...'IM HERE.' y'know?" He would babble about a great many of the eggs, glossing over the violent-feeling ones and lingering on the ones that felt more playful. "What about you?"

"So much! Like they were just wanting to hear." Lothan grinned and stuck his hands in his pockets. "I liked that one with the glowy spot, it was all ... yeah, y'know, and that tiny one up there, that was pretty funny! It was yelling. If it was talking."
He remembered the calmest ones best, the friendlier senses. "That one in front, it was like it didn't want me to touch it. But yeah, y'know. Somebody'll like it. Yeah?"

"They're all amazing, even the cranky ones." He totally understood all the fluttering and crazy-talk. "I mean, they all match up, find theirs....just takes some doing." He chuckled and nodded a bit; the only thing that could go wrong would be for one of the dragons to go between. But they weren't going to talk about that. Ever.

Not ever, no. They'd assume the best, not think about the horrible worst. Lothan would rather that every single other Candidate Impress without him than consider a hatchling going Between, its partner not there. Of course, finding his own dragon -- that would be even better. The best.
"Just takes some doing," Loth answered, and laughed. "Bet you Impress a cranky one," he teased, and elbowed Ther in the side. "Make you run all over the Weyr. Like your flits, stupid little things." Really, he liked Ther's flits; but saying so would be mushy, and therefore he insulted them, secure in the knowledge that Ther would do the same for him.

"It'd serve me right, or so the ladies in the lower caverns'd say." Therion devolved into some deep giggles that no one but Loth would ever hear before elbowing his friend back. "You'll get some fat, lazy dragon, not worth it's shell shards."

"Oh, oh, now it's getting personal!" Lothan giggled back, giving Therion a playful shove. "Teasing's all good, but girls! Shouldn't joke about important things!" He smirked at Therion, winking to show he didn't mean it.
"... Hey, s'pose you can Impress girls? It'd explain some weyrmates!"

Ther lifted his hands in that double-wave of white-flagness and grinned bigger at his friend. "You're right. Girls are serious business man."
With a curious look on his face and one big hand up to scratch at the back of his head thoughtfully, Therion shook his head. "It's the only thing that explains some of 'em." He paused. "Oh, hey...that reminds me...uh...that girl that I was talking to you about?"

His eyebrows rose at Ther's expression. "Ooooohhhhh, man, you get her to talk to you more?" Loth grinned approvingly. "The cute one, right? Gonna introduce me sometime?" He paused, then lifted his hands, "Not gonna snipe, promise, I just gotta meet her. You know."

"When you gonna snag a girl? After the hatching?" Probably. The candidates weren't supposed to fraternize with each other...but Therion couldn't really help himself. His interest had been piqued very much by the freckled girl.
"Yeah...uh, we're actually gonna have dinner together pretty soon. More than once, I think." Another grin, but this time one that was a good deal less cocky than before. "Inaari. She makes the best klah man...and she keeps sneaking me into the kitchen and feeding me. I'll get you two together sometime soon." He trusted Loth to not snipe Inaari..plus, they were brothers. Lothan had to meet her!
"So, I was kinda wondering if you'd like, fix me up. Something new, y'know? Something that doesn't smell of watchwher and dirt...."

"Yeah, after. Maybe a gold-rider, huh? Or crimson?" Lothan waggled his eyebrows suggestively. "Some pretty Candidates this clutch." His smile softened a little. "Happens when it happens, right?"
He snickered happily at Ther's expression. "Feeding you? Oh, man. That's a good sign. Women feed you to make you stick around." He gave his friend a light thump on the shoulder. "Sure, yah. I got a good tunic I was working on. Embroidered and everything. Ought to fit you. Maybe tight a little, but betcha she won't mind."
