Oh, it was just a splendifical day! Any and every day out of that underground hell she had been imprisoned in was a splendifical day to Kingdom Key. Ah, how she adored the Jack-o-lantern'd boy who'd found her! Bless his heart, he was as intelligent as a stump, but he had a good heart. Now able to stretch her limbs out without feeling a crick in her spine, KK decided it was high time to meet this Ultima figure everyone knew - especially since she needed to stay here. For her own safety . . .

She would have never guessed how large the territory was, nor how much it encompassed! And the curious names! She was sorely tempted to go to this Wonderland Garden Oathkeeper had mentioned, the meadow to the northwest that held only flowers of white, pink, or red hues. Imagine! But no, her destination was Pride Rock, the very center of the pack where meetings were held and where most of the dens were located. Thankfully, KK was not a shy sort at all; not even her time underground deterred her chatty behavior, as one of the newest members Sway had learned the hard way.

Head held high, she scanned the stones until she found the largest one in the group: a large slab that protruded upwards at a slight angle from where the leader of head speaker of the meetings would stand to address the masses. Behind it, naturally tunneled in long before any of them had settle in, was a sizeable den that the alpha slept in - and it was there she thought it likely to find this Ultima. Trotting to the entrance, she rapped a paw upon the stone floor several times. "Yoooohoooo. Someone named Ultima in there?

User ImageThe sound of her voice grated against his nightmare, dragging him closer to the surface, to his physical state. Ultima awoke with a start, his entire body quivering but showing no other sign of weakness. In fact he seemed to be stronger, his teeth bared in war mode. The reoccurring dream of the past made him more irritated by the day, and the fact that he kept noticing how everything could have gone differently did not help matters one bit.

A low growl escaped his throat, as he pulled his solid mass to standing position, not wishing to have any company at all, let alone them seeing him laying down. A sign of weakness that would not do, not at all. He needed to show fortitude in these times, to restore his packs trust in him. Though that to be true Ultima knew that he had to forgive himself, to prove to himself once more that he was strong and whole.

No easy task.

“You are permitted to enter.” he said softly but clearly the growl that was in his voice mostly gone. “state your business.”

"Ah, goody!" KK replied in a too chipper voice. So these wolves responded to knocking! Ah yes, good. She would henceforth knock loudly before entering any den then! The silver and black wolf trotted in, the clack of claws on stone echoiing slightly. Upon seeing the half-viasage, half-lit up form of Ultima, her tail wagged. "And they said you were a washout~" KK teased to herself, shaking her head slightly. "No sir, I'm looking at a fine alpha alright! I didn't mean to interrupt anything, sir -" - though she looked around and didn't see much form of entertainment to be had - "but I thought I should introduce myself to you since I plan on staying."

KK cleared her throat and for a moment looked terribly professional as she straightened herself. "Kingdom Key, sixteenth generation alphabrood of the once-known Dreadfalls pack - northwest of what used to be the pack of your birthplace - daughter of the pureblood alphas After Thought and Shining Sun, privvy to knowledge of reconnaissance and retrieval, and fellow of The Heart Watchers." Boy, that was a mouthful: but she had been practicing! Immediately following the recitation, KK relaxed and bowed her head. "Tis an honor to meet you, sir, truly. My pack once watched yours from the shadows, helping you where we could in secret; ours had always been a subtle sister pack, keeping in sync with the teachings of Kingdom Hearts and always watching for signs of prophecy coming to life. Your parents, ah . . . Alpha and Omega, they called themselves after a while. They knew about us."

She lifted her head, still smiling. "I remember when you were born, actually. I was a little girl still, but there was buzzing about the pack that one of great destiny had been born. You were the talk ofthe town to say the least! Until you up and left, that is. Parents weren't very happy about that, as much as my pack assured them that it was meant to be. Mind, though, that we lost our eye on you after you entered the mountains. and now I can continue my clan's work! aaah, how wonderful~ But I'm ranting, and you look as though you've just yawned one too many times, so I'm just going to shut up and let it sink in first." She clamped her jaw down.

Ultima had closed his eyes half way through. Her tale was one of great detail, and though he wanted to tell her it was complete bullshit and that he didn’t believe a word of it, it would have been a lie. No one makes that much of a fuss over ironing out the details if it were a lie. But something irritated him, oh quite so. “Tell me why I should permit you to stay here? You are brash, quick to assume and obviously inclined to follow your own whim. What can you do for this pack, what can you really do to add to our strength? I don’t need more wolves to baby-it, I need people that know how to do their job without question and not to fight my authority.” The alpha looked the girl up and down, moving from feet, until finally at a snails pace meeting her eyes. “And how am I to know you didn’t appear out of the blue to challenge my authority and take my pack from me?”

His worst fear, here, acting as though she was already moved in. Now was not the time for subtlety, Ultima wanted truth, and he wanted truth immediately. She would defeat most in the pack… but him… it seemed like a pretty even fight.

“I want to know exactly why you are here. And why I shouldn’t just refuse you like I would any other that decided to randomly come in and tell me that they knew me at birth like it has some hold over me.”

Hmm . . . Political proceedings. Blech. So Ultima had grown up with that training and, despite his age, he had never swayed from it? It was something to be admired, but this wasn't the time for her to not be accepted just because he was being suspicious. Agh, she should've brought Oath to vouch for her . . . Damn her overeagerness to come here!

So, at least for the moment, KK allowed herself to be less informal, adopting a more serious expression on her face. "I meant no disrespect by that, sir," she began, "not at all. It's how I am to be a bit too quick to the draw, if you know what I mean. I've lost touch with how to act with my kin after spending that period underground, and the spand of time alone before that even. I overstepped my boundaries, and for that I apologize."

She bowed her head respectfully before picking back up. "As I mentioned, I come from a sister pack to your old one. Ours has always been a secretive pack, working from the shadows to ensure that the line of alphas - your bloodline - remains in a seat of power, as well as to conduct research into our slowly changing world; the arrival of new, paler humans drew our interest, for instance. Ever were we seeking for the way to Kingdom Hearts, the heaven that awaits us all - but amongst us was a deviant who sought to unite the two packs under his rule. He, ah . . ." She shifted uncomfortably here. "He sold the locations of both your old pack and mine to our greatest enemies: The Heartless and The Nobodies. Within days we were overrun with their numbers. I was forced to flee in the chaos.

"Unable to save any of my comrades, I became a spy for their sake and traced the cruel beasts' tracks. I was successful until about two to three weeks ago, when a straggler behind that mass found me and alerted his superiors. Rather than kill me, they decided to bury me alive to die slowly, at the place you call The Graveyard. And it was there, a week later, that my little jack-o-lanterned savior hear my pleas and managed to gather the others to come save me."

Although KK had been in the packlands for several days now, she still wore the marks of her time underground: her might have returned to its usual shining form, but there was a gauntness about her thin body, as if it still was bearing some sort of weight. "I, ah . . . I learned from my eavesdrops that they had decimated your packs as well," she reported quietly. "Both the one you were born in as well as the first one you governed. I am deeply sorry." She bowed her head again and stayed that way. "My only wish is to stay here and pick up the threads of what my forefathers had started in my old pack. To reunite the sister packs and help rebuild. That is all."

The alpha stood eerily still, his golden eyes boring into the other wolf. Yes it did seem to fit, and he sensed no lie in her words… but all of it seemed so far fetched it took all of his strength to remain composed and cool instead of letting out the bark of laughter building in the back of his throat. Building a pack… sharing his leadership with… some stranger? Ultima scanned the female over once more, taking in the story as he did so. Buried alive, living in the dark for the amount of time it took to be found. Relying on others to release you.

For the first time perhaps he actually felt a bit of admiration for the femme standing before him. Pleading for a place to stay. A place to call home. “So you are not here to take over my leadership. You are not planning a mutiny or any other sort of take over. You simply want a place to stay?” Part of him didn’t quite believe this, the skeptical screaming conspiracy in his mind, but the other half… the half that shows compassion, that was only born when Oath was brought into the world felt a smudge of sympathy and wanted to take in the stray before him.

“IF we take you in, I expect you to do everything in your power to provide continuous safety for the pack. I expect you to carry out your orders without question, and to put the packs safety before your own. The only other wolf with the authority to counter one of my orders is my daughter Oath Keeper, from which besides that you must swear to carry out my will without quail. Can you do that Kingdom Key?”
