My dad is going to bring me the pictures from the ceremony, but in the meantime, I have some webcam pictures! This one is with a mini top hat that my mom got me for my birthday. I wasn't allowed to wear it at the ceremony, though. I also said I was going to make my own top hat and put gears and stuff on it, but that fell through due to lack of time. Graduation was held outside. It rained. People were especially obnoxious because of this. But at least in only rained for part of it. There was no rain while everyone in my class received their diplomas. But I was in the front row, so all was well~.

Can't wait to see the full thing. The top part is extremely cute, though.

Alright, so here's the full outfit. As you can see, it's not exactly like my design. I didn't have enough time to put cuffs on the sleeves or lace on the neckline. Those portions were done rather hurriedly. The skirt also ended up longer than I had wanted, although it looks pretty Victorian, at least. I tried wearing my short white petticoat underneath my bustle instead of the skirt, and it was AWESOME but definitely not appropriate for graduation. My mom was also yelling at me to iron the neck, but I didn't really have time for that. Side views! I actually did the ties on the back of the shirt! This was only my second sewing project ever, so I'm very proud of myself. In other news, my friend (not the same one that helped me with my dress), who is in a lot of my pictures and is also a steampunk enthusiast, dressed up as a ghost bride. Her hair was GIANT and magnificent, but it got a bit smaller due to the rain. She's my hero.

That is such an awesome dress. How did your class take to it?

Even if you had to scrap some elements due to time constraints, I think it turned out well. Job well done. Besides, I don't think the finished product ever looks exactly like the design.

A lot of girls had dresses that were shorter than knee length, but they weren't kicked out... And there was lots of off-white too. I figure the school doesn't want people filing lawsuits, though. Although... at my school you're not supposed to have strapless stuff, spaghetti straps, really short skirts/shorts, or dangerous shoes, but they really aren't doing a good job at enforcing that...

That was true at my highschool, too. And then you go to college where there is no dress code and I think girls dress more conservatively--sloppy, and often in pajamas or work-out clothes--but even the sluts don't dress like sluts. We all have our short shorts which wouldn't fly in most high schools, and tank tops . . . but that's it.
