I suppose I mean, human being, not just human, since obviously a fetus is a human.

Though I've spent many nights trying to spell out to some people what makes a fetus a living human, not arguing personhood at all, just that it's alive and human.

Pyrotechnic Oracle
Huh...so an embryo does have a metabolism and it can reproduce.

That one has no prolife bias. Towards the middle it talks about fetal response in the 9th week of pregnancy. I found plenty on prolife sites that referenced Dr. Vincent J. Collins about fetal pain. Organic pain, not psychological pain, I mean, but I try hard not to use biased sites. Hard to find nowadays.

I heart Psychology Today. The only place I can read it is on my campus though u.u;;; no one seems to carry it at home.

The only problem with Psychology Today is that anyone can submit an article to it. And while I believe that Janet L. Hopson is, in fact, a person of great repute, "A new wave of research," "researchers now know," "Japanese scientists have reported" aren't real citations u.u;; A number of people who work at universities (which can be anything from grad students to tenured professors with years of experience) were cited, but no actual studies or experimental data was ever cited u.u;;

It's a great article to read, but I personally wouldn't hold it as a rock-solid source since nothing asserted in the article can be readily verified. I'll include it anyway though, because it is an interesting read, and it wouldn't be too much trouble to google the scientists named to see if any of their research is online.

Duly noted.

With a quick search I found this,

http://www.jhsph.edu/dept/PFHS/PFHS_Preview/Faculty_Publications

but I don't really have access to what's inside, so I'll keep looking.

Edit: http://www.behindthemedicalheadlines.com/articles/fetal_development.shtml

That seems to be unbiased. Not sure though. I'm purposely rejecting prolife sites, and prochoice sites I notice use the latest estimated date the same way that prolife sites use the earliest estimated date. Finding someone with no opinion on abortion is difficult. I do know that some of what I've got stored in my brain comes from "In the Womb," which I don't really have access to right now.
