Robby Gordon entered his Jim beam H3 into the dakar this year.
The dakar is a 6,000 mile race through europe into africa, and is known as one of the biggest races in the world.
As of now he just finished the third event out of 15 and is 8th overall out of almost 500 cars and is gunning to be the first american to win the dakar

Hey, to think I was cheering Robby on as I watched the GPS live on the website... and then his H3 Hummer icon stopped on the circuit line.

Robby Gordon has been eliminated during Stage 4 of the Dakar Rally.

his transmission failed mad It says that he made it through the checkpoint, but he's like 150th or something, so his chances of winning it.....not so high

He's 69th overall, 3 hours and 55 minutes out of first (Carlos Sainz is a house! OMG! 3 stage wins after 4 stages is nuts!)

Robby is highly unlikely to win the Dakar, however, the transmission was replaced, apparently, at the finish line checkpoint. I'm not entirely sure if he even made it to the finish of the stage, as there's some distance that is untimed.

Stage 5 is a top-end heavy stage, with a coastal region and lots of straights, so the H3 Hummer's design can help it out here. Near the end of the stage, it gets a bit bumpier, and no dunes through this one, so it's all speed. The only thing that drivers need to worry about is a flat; since high speeds will be a factor, reaction time to low branches and frost heaves in the road will be painfully slow, so luck determines much of the stage.

I place Robby, and the prototype H3 Hummer, near the top 5 of this stage, barring some problem that might urk its ugly head. Al Attiyah looks good for the end of the stage, so be careful of him on the stage time sheets. Again, Carlos Sainz IS A HOUSE, and we haven't seen Stephane Peterhansel step up his game yet. Peter strikes vengeful strikes, and he'll be hunting for some time back on his newest and legendary of rivals in former WRC champion Sainz.

Two-time Dakar champ Matsuoka has withdrawn during Stage 4, after midway through the dunes, he forward rolled his Mitsubishi. Technicians said the damage was beyond repair in the time allowed by race rules, the damage was that bad, however Matsuoka did drive the car the rest of the way safely. Both driver and co-pilot were uninjured in the wreck.

Good to see the cars back to beating the bikes again though... cough.

I guess I overestimated Robby's crew's ability to fix the problem, as issues with the right rear wheel also plagued the team during stage 4 and soon 5, today. He got to the Stage 5 checkpoint at exactly midnight, driving the assitance vehicle himself according the Dakar site. Robby got 19th in stage 5, nowhere near fast enough to try to catch Sainz, who leads the overall by a short margin.

What was I saying about Peterhansel? He won stage 5.

I jinxed Al Attiyah, his BMW suffering major engine damage during the stage, and he made also be out of the running.

Still though, I have faith in the Hummer giving Robby a stage win in the coming days.

yeah...robby gordon probably won't win....But hey, it's still early in the race....You never know...but on his website it says he thinks he has an oil leak, but doesn't know what's wrong

well, after stage 6 he's now up to 27th overall...about 4 and a half hours behind the leader De Villiers.he finished the stage with the 11th best time....so he seems to be getting back on track.....

Robby's picking off big names though.

The bigger news in Stage 6 was Despres dislocating his collar bone, but still completing the stage and is going to continue the Rally with it dislocated. He crashed and his 2 riding rivals that were with him sounded his Iritrack GPS alarm, but he fixed his #1 bike and continued on. www.dakar.com sounded very serious about his condition.

Stage 7 started looking good for Robby, he was 2rd after the first spectator checkpoint... and then it all went sour.

Robby's listed in 69th again, 16 hours and some behind the leaders. He got penalized an hour in time for needing an assistance vehicle. The official Robby Gordon website originally gave reports of spectating committee saying the H3 Hummer "crashed heavily", when only the vehicle had suffered major damage to the radiator, and some clutch problems. Team Dakar USA is now concentrating on stage wins, rather than taking home the Rally, as they are way too far behind. Gordon and Skilton are working with the team overnight to repair the H3 for tomorrow, and then they have a rest day to get the car in full form for some awesome 8 days of trying to win those stages.

My hopes were slighted today, as it shows on the Dakar scoreboard that Robby Gordon's Hummer team have withdrawn from the Rally.
