So, I'm probably going to end up playing Sousaphone for marching season (I would normally have played flute, but we're really short on tubas and I have a boyfriend who can teach me!).
But, since I've been in high school and while I was in middle school, the only girl tuba that we've had had short hair, so she just wore the beret normally like the boys. I have really long hair, though. How would I wear my hair? In a bun or a ponytail? I love ponytails and all, but they just seem like they'd be so messy with the uniform!
What do your tuba girls usually do about their hair?

I put it up in a pony tail and then braid it and wrap it around like a bun or sometimes just leave it in the pony tail braid thing. Or you can french braid your hair and stick the end of the hair in the back of your uniform

u can do like my mom does i think she puts it in a french braid then kinda raps it round ur head i aint 4 sure tho

Yeah, I'm liking the idea of at least a braid or a braid-bun. My hair's so long and thick that I've had to braid it tightly just to fit it in my helmet! I've seen other girls just wear ponytails before (from other schools), but their hair seemed thinner or shorter than mine. I want my hair looking clean (as far as uniform goes), but I'd also like to avoid it getting in the way while marching.

lol our school just has regular shakos for the sousas, just without the plume...anyways, our backflags wear berets, and they frenchbraid and then tuck the end under the rest of the hair...but that doesn't sound like that would work. i would just do a high, flat bun on the crown of the head. lol like colorguard xd (no offense to anyone, but i think ponytails just hanging out of shakos/berets looks really sloppy....)

I just put my hair in a ponytail and shove it into my beret. But I do like the braiding idea. It would work well.

I like the braiding idea, or doing a bun on top. In my high school drumline there were girls who'd just make a bun at the back of the head, but it'd made the beret bulge weirdly.
