EDIT 2/15: I've been approved by MEPS. I thank y'all for your input.

Okay, so I take zoloft. Had social anxiety in high school and I still currently take it, but I've reduced it to 25mg and hope to get off of it soon.

I know this medication will probably keep me out for a while. I heard you have to be off an anti-depressant for a year before you can get in and me and my big mouth told my recruiter about it.

So yeah... the year thing--is it true? I've actually heard people being prescribed zoloft in the military, but when joining you can't be on it?

I've screwed myself over there. If anything I have to wait a year.

Another thing is my [mild] thyroid condition. I take Levothyroxin and within 2 months, my TSH hormones got to a normal and decent level. Is my thyroid condition disqualifying?

My main concern is the zoloft. I'm quite angry at myself for disclosing that, but if I get disqualified because of my thyroid there's nothing I can do about that.

Is there any hope of me joining the air force (or any branch for that matter)?

I asked my husband and he said that on the Zoloft, you can't get in, and if they know about the thyroid condition, you probably will be DQ'd.

Anti-depressants are disqualifiers. Found that out 'cause I take Celexa. neutral

However, if you stop taking them and wait a year, you're allowed to sign up. I'll be joining up in a couple years. mrgreen

After putting off joining (the reason for that, I'd rather not talk about--interpersonal bs) and switching branches, I'm going back. I found out that hypothyroidism is not a DQ. As long as you're on medication and you're euthyroid for a year (which I have been).

However....I am now uncomfortable about my medical records. I'd rather not talk about anything concerning depression, but there was of course, no way for my doctor to take it off my medical record.

It says: past history--depression, acne, allergies, thyroid.

It makes me seem like a total hypochondriac I must say, but that's pretty much my medical history since I was about....well, ever. My doctor felt that she mustn't leave out anything for personal integrity.

I think that personal integrity may get me disqualified.

The thing is I got my doctor to add a note within my records stating that I've been off anti-depressants for over a year, have no symptoms of depression(which I personally think wasn't my fault whatsoever, but my own unstable thyroid), and that my allergies are stable and I don't take anything for it--never have an never will; they're mild for crying out loud. And my blood tests for my thyroid was put in as well.

My doctor did not want to leave anything out of my past history, but there's a small note put in for everything.

It's been almost two weeks since my medical records have been sent. Is there reason for me to worry?

...I'm worried my doctor screwed me over. I really only needed documents concerning my thyroid then that happens.....And acne? WTF?!!
