'Finally, another seer,' Cat couldn't help thinking as he compared silver dishes critically. Though he certainly hadn't taught the majority of the spawn, he was beginning to feel a little lonely at the complete lack of any other seers. This coming child, Bovidae, however, did have such a talent, and even though it might be biased, Cat already felt a little endeared to him. Divining, after all, was his specialty.

After a long moment of deliberation, Cat finally selected the smaller dish; it was closer to being spotless than its bigger counterpart, and Cat knew he didn't have much time before his student arrived; he never did. Grabbing a polish-sodden rag, he scrubbed at the dish, leaning slightly against his desk. It had to be completely clean if this was going to work, and it had better. Cat hadn't seen a talent this cool in a while.

Bovi had gotten the call that his spiritual class was going to be today, which did not give him all that much time to prepare, something he himself was not never fond of. He liked to make a good first impression, seeing as a person only gets one of those for every person they meet. Still, he had enough time to get into something easy to move around in, and made sure all of his hair was out of his face. He was unsure of what sort of skill he possessed deep down inside him, and therefore dressed in such a manner so that nothing of his would become a hindrance once he arrived.

Promptness was always something the spawn adhered to, and walked through the class door a few minutes before the class had been posted to start. He gave a small bow in greeting to the person in here, whom he assumed was his teacher for this lesson.

"Good afternoon. I'm Bovidae Harrington, here for my spiritual class," he said pleasantly.

Cat beamed at the sharp-looking young man who entered his classroom, putting the plate to the side for a moment and stepping forward, hand outstretched. "Well, nice to meet you, Bovidae. I'm Cat, and I'll be your teacher today. Now follow me." With an excited grin he beckoned the boy to follow him, collecting the plate as he did so as well as a small jug of water and placing the plate on a small pedestal. He filled the plate with water, then turned to grin at his student.

"Now Bovidae, I have to admit that your magical talent is exceptionally cool, though I'm probably biased in that opinion as I share the same kind of magic. You, my friend," he said with a kind pat on Bovi's shoulder, "have the rare talent of being able to divine the future in pools of water. Only clear water, mind you, and only in clean silver plates, but pretty nifty nonetheless, don't you think?"

"Now," he continued, stepping around the pedestal to face the spawn, "what I'm going to want you to do is to look into the water and try to clear your mind. Don't try and focus on seeing anything; just keep your mind blank and act like you're staring into a deep tunnel. Given that you don't have a certain thing to find out, you shouldn't see anything specific yet, but you're not going to see your reflection. Okay?"

"Pleased to meet you Cat," Bovi said as he followed his teacher to wherever he was leading him.

Bovi listened to what Cat said that his hidden ability was. "Divining eh?" he said, interested. "I agree, it does sound rather interesting," he said with a nod.

He listened to Cat's instructions and nodded once again before looking into the water.

First, he saw his reflection, but he was to look beyond that, let his mind go blank. He stared, and slowly he allowed his mind to stop making his eyes focus. Slowly being the key term, as he was his angel mother's child, and their minds if not focused on one thing always seemed to scatter, but he got there. There was no reflection, but as Cat said, there wasn't there nothing specifically there as he was not looking for something.

Cat watched his student carefully, making sure that he was accessing the right part of him to divine. Although the water still appeared normal to Cat, his trained eye could pick up on the minute change that it had undertaken, the slightly duller reflection. He smiled to himself; Bovi was already doing well.

Touching his shoulder gently, Cat broke the Pride spawn out of his trance. "Nicely done, Bovidae. Now, we're going to do a little exercise to hone your talents a bit. I have a deck full of blue and red cards, and you're going to predict which one I draw. To look for something specific, you have to keep just the question in your mind; 'Which color will the card that Cat draws be?', for example. It has to be precisely worded, and you can't try and guess before the water shows you, if that makes sense." Smiling still, he gathered the deck and took a card between his fingers, not flipping it yet. "Ready?"

Bovi looked up at his teacher and nodded, the looking up part was more for himself as he felt that he had been going cross-eyed. He then took in a deep breath and exhaled before looking to the water again, quickly regaining that trance like feeling now that he knew how to get there. The question was placed in his mind, and he waited for the water to answer him.

It was kind of sudden when the flash of red danced across the water, startling enough that it snapped Bovi out of his trance like gaze.

"Ow..." he said, rubbing a temple. "I'm going to go with red..."

Cat watched Bovidae carefully as he tried scrying for the first real time. He winced sympathetically when his student rubbed his temple; it took a while for one's mind to get used to stretching so far. Cat himself had many memories of waking up with splitting headaches after a future-filled night of dreams.

Smiling, he nodded. "Red? Alright, then, red it is." With an unnecessary flourish, he picked a card from the top of the pile, a wide grin across his face as he showed Bovidae the bright red card. "Good job. Alright, go again. Oh, and don't worry," he added with a rather mischievous grin. "I'm not going to make you just do this for hours. I'll be making it harder as we go on."

"I would hope so," Bovi responded with a playful chuckle. He liked Cat, he reminded Bovi of what he himself would like to be when he was older.

Again with the trance, again with the question, and the answer seemed to come more quickly this time, though the sight of the bright blue was once again painful, though not as much as the first.

"Blue." he said finally with a nod.

"Correct again," Cat said with a grin, drawing out a blue card. He was extremely pleased with Bovidae's progress, which was more than he normally would have expected. So much so that he wondered if it was already time to up the ante. After thinking on it, he set the cards down with a smile.

"You're doing very well, Bovidae, so I'm gonna make things a bit more complicated. You see," he said with a sweeping gesture, "you can also find objects with that mirror of yours. Scrying, I guess you could call it. So, I've hidden my keys somewhere in here, and your job is to find them. It's the same basic process as before, but it'll be quite a bit harder, since you're dealing with the present. Don't get down if you can't do it right away; I'm challenging you because you're doing better than expected."

"So,"
he said as he leaned against his desk, "give it a try."

Bovidae blinked at Cat before nodding, taking a quick break to allow the pain to dissipate ever so slightly before looking once again to the water. It was a new question this time, and this time the water seemed to zoom around the room, trying to hone in on the item in question.

He could only take the movement for so long. This was a lot more painful then before as there was more to it. He had to look away as the sight hovered on a certain place in the room.

"Middle left drawer in that desk?" he stated more as a question as he pointed. Even he was unsure.

Cat winced sympathetically at the obvious pain on Bovidae's face, and walked around his desk to retrieve a bottle of Aspirin and a bottle of water. He remembered very well the constant headaches that plagued his waking hours when he was young and still trying to get a hold on his powers. It was certainly the biggest downside to the ability.

At Bovidae's answer, Cat couldn't help but let out a surprised laugh. "No, but that's not too far off. That drawer's where I keep my aspirin, though," he said with a kind smile as he pushed the middle left drawer closed. He walked over to Bovidae and handed him the painkillers. "Rest a bit if you want. The headaches suck, I know. They'll go away eventually, if you keep practicing."
