"The soul that has no established aim loses itself." -- Montaigne
In some cases, you can feel like you've hit a wall in your creativity and find it difficult to keep on writing. The thread "Fizzles" can help to write brief passages to get back into the swing of writing (it may be they inspire much more than that).
However, this thread I set up for the use of prompts that may inspire short stories or novels based on the use of a premise (a proposition supporting or helping to support a conclusion).
[more on story premise here ]
If you find them useful or you have any suggestions, please post in the thread!
The first premises will be from actual books that have been published. If you come up with any others, feel free to post and I'll add to the list:

“If God is dead, then all things are permitted.”
"The right time is any time that one is still so lucky as to have."
"there is not and cannot be any science of war, and
that therefore there can be no such thing as a military genius"
"it don't make no difference whether you do right
or wrong, a person's conscience ain't got no sense"
"Through error you come to the truth!"
"where there is no more hope, song remains"
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife"
“It is not necessary to accept everything as true, one must only accept it as
necessary.”
