I see the wind blowing through the trees,
gorgeous green leaves,
white and brown,
smooth like silk,
crows fly ’round in an aerial ballet,
wind whips the flags back and forth,
I hear the rustle, the whisper of the wind.
The sky is darkening,
I see it,
there is no sun,
only clouds,
a plane makes its way across the sky,
a beeline, straight,
there were four in the last few minutes.
Monotonous drones,
the teacher’s clones,
I skipped her life lesson today.
The clouds are moving,
alive! Alive!
The window is so close…
I could slip out and fly.
Hark! There is the sun,
but the clouds are darker still,
the bright greens against the steel blues,
and stark white branches.
The lorikeets call and my heart skips a beat,
I want to live in the wild with them,
in the desert with the red, red sand.
The wind is tormenting me,
making me want to leave,
to soar in it’s arms,
to be ripped apart by its claws.
Celestial winds,
sound barriers,
whoosh-BOOM-crash!
The wind died,
and I did too,
is there no one left to hold me now?
