History: From a very young age, Safira was always told she would be a great singer, like her mother and her grandmother. She was okay with that, since it pleased her family. She was closer to her parents than most of her peers at Harper Hall, and she loved them dearly. Her father tried to push her to become an apprentice as early as possible, and in order to please him Safira attended a lesson. The instructor of this particular class knew of her family and expected her to know more than just the basics. This would not have been an issue for Safira had he not put her on the spot, and in front of the whole class. She had already been a slightly shy child, but the feeling of the entire class's eyes on her made it worse. Under that feeling, Safira couldn't speak, only stutter. As a young child of eight, this aggravated Safira's shyness and caused her to become painfully so and would refuse to attend any more classes. It wasn't until she was about twelve that her shyness faded a bit and she was able to venture into the classrooms again and participate in lessons without freezing up.

However, when Dragon Riders came to their hall, Safira had a bad habit of skipping lessons and procrastinating on her chores to watch the dragons as they sunned themselves. She especially loved watching them fly, admiring the beauty and grace of their movements. Once the dragons were gone or she felt she had spent enough time slacking on her work, she would dutifully return to her tasks, taking the admonishments given with respect to the adult giving them. She had, after all, been shirking her responsibilities. She would return diligently to her studies after that, though her nights were filled with dreams of riding her own dragon someday. She never dared to voice these dreams to her parents who wanted so much for her to become a singer. She just didn't want to let them down in any way, and she felt that if she were to become a Dragon Rider that it would crush their dreams for her. She loved her parents very much and felt lucky that she had such a strong relationship with them, where her friends and classmates barely knew theirs.

Now, at fifteen Turns, Safira stared up at the Dragon Rider who was speaking to her, incredulous at what she was hearing. She was being Searched! Her dream! And yet, she couldn't keep herself from turning back to look at her parents, so afraid that they would be disappointed. Instead, they looked at her with love and pride in their faces and hugged her tightly before sending her off with the Dragon Riders to begin her life as a Candidate.

Description:Safira is of average height for her age, standing at 5'2. Her large almond shaped eyes are bright, icy blue. Despite the cold color of her eyes, they hold a warmth that belies her nature. Her waist length hair is a dark red that tends to look auburn or brown in some lights. Beneath the sun the red is defined by natural golden highlights. She usually keeps it tied back in two braids so that it's out of her way. Her skin is a pale tan color, though she likes to make it darker by laying in the sun in what little free time she has. Her voice when speaking is soft, when singing she's a high alto, not quite able to hit the notes a soprano would. It has a rich tone (OOCly: think Amy Lee of Evanescence, especially in "Bring Me to Life") She's not skinny, there is a little meat on her bones but she wouldn't be considered chubby, either. She keeps her fingernails a little long, but trimmed. Not much of a girly girl, Safira prefers to wear trousers and shirts when she's doing chores or going to class, though she does enjoy getting dressed up for special events.

Personality: Safira tends to be quiet and observant around new people, and exuberant around friends. She will not hesitate to help anyone in need and will never ask for anything in return. She does tend to be forgetful sometimes, though she does her best to remember everything. She dislikes being the center of attention, and though she loves to sing she prefers to be in groups when she does. She's very organized in her class work, but her quarters tends to be organized chaos. She knows where everything is, just not all at the same time. But she will know if something is moved.

When she's stressed out or nervous, Safira tends to chew on things, whether it's her nails, a writing utensil, or the end of her hair. Little things can excite her, and when she's excited she's very bouncy and giggles a lot. She can't sit still when she's happy, she has to be moving something even if it's just tapping her foot or something small. With friends, she tends to be talkative and happy. When she meets someone new, she's very nice and polite and it's easy to get her to open up. She loves to make new friends. She's very eager to please and hates to fail anyone or anything.

She doesn't get angry often, but when she does she tends to bottle up her anger which causes her to blow up at inopportune moments and at the last people she would ever get angry at. She's not very good at teaching herself or others, due to her impatience. If something doesn't go exactly right the first or second time, she gets frustrated and has a tendency to throw things. When listening to others sing, she has a habit of wincing when the singer is off-key or is trying to hit notes they might not be capable of hitting. She's definitely more 'attracted' to other Harpers as friends, and will open up to one of them more readily than she would someone her own age of another Craft.
