from time to time i go to hot topic because they have some decent accessories or good components to punk lolitas and stuff like that. However when i was looking at the online shop i noticed that are now selling lolita like clothes. I stress "LIKE" because i was looking at them and they look rather cheaply made along with them being TOO short. Not only this but i feel if a few "insert mean word here" may see them and either get the wrong impression OR wear them without knowing anything about them and give lolitas a bad name. I was just wondering what anyone else thought about it.

^had a shorter version that was at lest 5 inches above the knee and just was not fitted right, however i cannot find the picture of it any more

the ones under this ive heard people say are gothic lolitas which is why it makes me fear them being at hot topic becuase in my opinnion they are not

i mean if there are some good lolitas at hot topic i guess that would be alright because then i would actually be able to by them in the usa and they would not be as expensive however like i said i have a feeling to many people would be ignorant when wearing them?

I'm not entirely sure how the poll ties into this, but I agree with you. I flipped out a few months ago because I was looking online and they had two dresses they CLAIMED were lolita, and I was like " eek burning_eyes OH MY GOSH NO!!!! MY EYESSSSSS" then I ranted about it on Facebook. It was bad, just bad.

But I must say that I have found some very cute accessories at Hot Topic and Torrid (which are owned by the same company! biggrin )

But I do agree with you, people could tarnish the name of Lolita by wearing things that are clearly not, but that will happen anywhere anyway! And if HT sold quality lolita, I agree, I would buy it!

Lolita is a kind of style. Those people who tarnish it do not really understand it.

I live in engaland and do not come into contact with such stuff outside the internet. looks tacky. I did see some nice mini top hats at claire's which looked good for, goth, punk or aristocrat lolita (if you took off the skull and replaced it with a cross?) . you may not agree, probably not. (the actual thing is better than the picture)
the hat
and they had some egl-worthy cockers too. those didn't seem tacky at all, along with a few of the alice in wonderland products. 4laugh
