Yeah, my friend has a Selmer Alto Sax (not sure of any other information) and it's only been used ever so slightly.I played it the other day, and IT WAS AMAZING! Anyway, I have a cheapy CECILIO Alto Sax. And it sucks. A LOT. So, hopefully I'm gonna buy her sax from her ($750) because now she's playing tenor.
You can discuss if you want to, the following:
Cecilio (and it's crappy-ness)
Saxophone
Being jealous of other band geeks

Dude Cannonball saxophones are way better than selmer. They have a nice sound with an awesome edge to it. Also Buffet-Crampon saxes have a much better quality sound then selmer.

My first sax was a Cecillio.
It went through a marching season, a concert season, and half of another marching season before the neck decided to break. I'm surprised it lasted so long.
It died an honorable death.

Akari Oudoki Dude Cannonball saxophones are way better than selmer. They have a nice sound with an awesome edge to it. Also Buffet-Crampon saxes have a much better quality sound then selmer. Late, but whatever. Cannonball saxes are fine. They look cool, which is what matters to a lot of people, and which is probably why you like them better than Selmer. Buffet is good at making clarinets, their saxes are alright, but if you're going to buy from them, buy a clarinet. Selmer is commonly thought of as the standard for saxes because they make very excellent horns. There is a difference between Selmer and Bundy-Selmer. Bundys are crap. They're cheap and meant for beginners. Selmers are meant for professionals.

I very much agree. Cecilio kinda sucks. Bless his heart, my dad bought me a Medini by Cecilio blue C flute for my birthday and gave it to me the night before my big concert. It plays beautifully. Much better than the crappy rental I was using that sounded choppy and the buttons always fell off. Well, You'd think Cecilio would use a paint that doesn't frickin' CHIP OFF!!! After I used it in practice for about a week, my fingers were BLUE and where my right thumb rested and where my left forefinger rested there were silver spots where the paint rubbed off. Luckily, the buttons aren't painted, and you can't see the spots from the audience 'cause my fingers cover them. But I hate having blue paint chips on my fingers after I play. I'd take it over my old flute any day, though. I prefer having an instrument that plays well, rather than looks well. xP
