Ah, yes. Back when Gaia didn't have much and you had to actually WORK to make a decent avatar.
Most of the features now are sets. I saw one on there a while ago that was just someone wearing one of those super bulky Elegant set dresses with the matching corset.

I didn't even know that we still had Spotlights.
They used to be on the front page, but Gaia has changed up the site's layout so many ********' times. xD

There's an old guild that was for people who made it into the avatar spotlight. They had a thread with those images of all the old spotlights. I went to look for it, but can't think of a good key word to find it again. I gave up since your link has the old spotlights anyway. x3
I remember that green avatar by Shamroch. I remember it as the spotlight avatar that greeted me when I was new. I thought it was awesome. It looked just like a leprechaun. And for years after, I always thought back to it and how it was a cool leprechaun avi on it...
...Until a couple years ago when someone posted a link to that guild that had the old spotlights in it. Those images crushed my nostalgia. It was good for the time, but Shamroch's avatar does not look like a leprechaun. XD
I don't like the new "Featured Avatar" system that we have now. All people have to do is post in a GCD sticky and nominate themselves. I'm a fan of the many different styles on Gaia. Half of those people don't have any style though. > <;;;
