Chapter One: Mark's Challenge !
It's a beautiful day and Drake is pumped on getting his new badge. "I just can't wait anymore! Are we there yet?", Drake asked Floricar, who has her PokeGear. "Not even close", they both sighed. Drake's Flareon walked happily next to Drake's Nidorino and Floricar's Espeon. Drake held Mime Jr. as they walked and Floricar's Butterfree flew ahead of them. Suddenly, Drake notices that Flareon's ears perk up. "What's wrong Flareon?", Drake bent down to Flareon. Nidorino walked around in circles and nodded to Flareon. Flareon nodded back. The two ran ahead with Butterfree. "Uh, wait up Flareon!", but Flareon ignored. Drake and others run behind following them.
Drake and the others finally caught up to Flareon and sees a familiar face. "M-M-Mark?", Drake jumped and pointed to Mark. "Yup Yup! It's me alright", Mark proudly introduced his self. What are you doing here Mark?", Drake asked as his Flareon went over to play with Mark's Jolteon. "What kind of question is that?", Mark chuckled. "I'm here to train, duh! Check it out", Mark opened his Badge Case and showed his three badges. Now he's caught up with Drake. "Since you're here, let's have a battle. To tell you the truth, I missed battling with you Drake", Mark took out a Pokeball from his pocket.
Drake wasn't very surprised by this. Mark would always challenge him whenever they meet each other. "I accept!", Drake sent Nidorino into battle. "I was pretty sure you'd pick Nidorino", Mark mentioned as he tossed the Pokeball into the battlefield. So I send... Venusaur!", light shone and Venusaur appeared.
Floricar released all of her Pokemon to come and watch the battle. "You can go first! I always let weaklings make the first move",Mark bragged. "I am not a weakling!", Drake pointed out. Drake commands his Nidorino to use Shadow Claw to start off. "Venusaur, counter with Frenzy Plant!", Venusaur stomps on the ground and giant spiky roots emerge from the ground and hit Nidorino causing it to fly back yards away. "What a strong attack!", Floricar's mouth dropped and her eyes widened. "Quick Nidorino! Venusaur won't be able to move for a while so lets make good use of this time while we have it. Use Double Kick", Nidorino's legs glowed white as he runs toward Venusaur. Nidorino leaps and kicks Venusaur with both of his leg causing Venusaur to fly back only a few inches. Awesome! Now use Poison Jab", Nidorino's fist glows purple and punches Venusaur on the forehead. "Stop!", their battle was interrupted and as they turned around they saw a quite familiar happy face.
"Mom?", Drake gasped and ran to hug her. His mother released to ask questions about his adventure. "How are you? Are you doing fine? Are you eating healthy? Do you remember to take a shower every morning? Do you change your underwear everyday?" Drake's mother panted from the heavy questions she asked. "Mom! You don't have to ask that much serious questions you know! And I'm not a baby anymore!", Drake replied. His mother guffawed. "Well, how lovely. Let's all come to our house and I can make you some snacks!, His mom led the rest to their house.
At Drake's house, the scent of Cookies and MooMoo Milk is smeled from the kitchen where Drake's mom stood and baked cookies. Drake, Mark, Floricar, and their Pokemon hung out in the backyard. "So, what made you come back here in Oliraque Town?", Mark raised an eyebrow as he grabbed his Badge Case while waiting for him to answer. "I wanted to help out in the lab. I already got three badges, and last time I checked you only had two. Ha!", Drake bragged about him having more badges that Mark but Floricar seems to sense he was wrong. "Oh yeah.... Check this out!", Drake and Floricar gasped and was felt speechless when Mark opened his Badge Case. It revealed to them that Mark obtained five badges.
"No way!", Drake was still in shock. "Yes way!", Mark rubbed his skills to Drake's face. "I guess we should finish that battle huh?", Mark smiled and waited for an answer. "Okay.", Mark and Drake got into their position. Drake stands in the east side while Mark stands in the west side of the backyard. "Let the battle begin!", Floricar yelled and the two trainers sent out their first Pokemon.
Drake begins with his Sunflora and Mark starts off with Weavile. "Uh-oh... This is bad for Drake and Sunflora., Floricar sat on a chair and watched the battle with her Pokemon. "Oh man! An Ice Type!", Drake began to worry. "Heh. Remember Sneasel? I managed to evolve it into a Weavile! Because I trained it well.", Mark bragged about his great work and training. Floricar raised an eyebrow as she spoke. "Mark, you do know that Sneasel evolves by holding a Razor Claw while in battle during the night right? It's not that hard...", Floricar spoke carefully trying not to offend Mark and his bragging time. Mark looked at Floricar with a look that spells 'thank you' sarcastically. "You didn't have to ruin the moment you know!", Mark yelled loudly. Mark is an impatient boy who likes to be the center of attention when it comes to everything in Pokemon. "Weavile use Blizzard", Mark's Weavile released harsh blizzard from its mouth. An explosion emergerged when it hit Sunflora and smoke too.
"Oh no! That's super effective!", Floricar jumped up and waited for the smoke to clear up to see if Sunflora can stll battle. At last the smoke disappeared and Sunflora is seen trying to get up. "You can do it Sunflora!", Drake encouraged as he saw his poor Sunflora about to faint. Drake's backyard is seen partly covered in snow. "Use GrassWhistle!", Drake's Sunflora uses it's leaves to whistle through and make a lullaby-like tune. It made Sneasel sleep on the grass. "Sunflora return", Drake returned Sunflora to send out another Pokemon which is... "Go Flareon!", Flareon was sent out. "Yes! Fire type is super effective against Ice type", Floricar got excited. "Flareon, use your Overheat!", Flareon's mouth opened as it launched a powerful beam of fire. Sneasel woke up in the middle of the attack and saw itself burning. Smoke appeared as they collided and Sneasel is revealed to have fainted when the smoke faded.
Mark said nothing and sent out his next Pokemon. Drake returned Flareon to send out his next Pokemon. He sent out Mime Jr. and Mark sends his Magby.
"HOLD IT!", Drake's mother yelled to catch their attention as she ran to the backyard with her messy apron. "Professor Martin just called me and they want us to get over there.. it's an emergency!", she said while panting lightly. Drake and Mark look onto each other and shrugs. They stopped the battle and got everyone in the van.
Their van stopped in front of Professor Martin's lab. Everyone got off and knocked on the door. Professor Martin's assissant opened the door and let them in.
