Today I left my dorm to find that someone had completely destroyed my bike for no reason. Only mine, and apparently with quite a bit of force, if not anger. It appears to have been smashed into the ground and stomped on until the wheel bent.
But I don't mean to throw a pity party. I just want to know, how can you deal with something like this? When people do rude and/or hateful things to you for no clear reason? I'm not even angry, I just feel sad that I don't bother anybody, and some random stranger did this to me.
What do you do when life punches you in the face for no reason?

i huff, or laugh, or grunt; shake my head, and get on with it. if people hate me they hate me. i don't give a damn. in life, not everyone will like you, and there doesn't have to be a reason. if they have a problem with you, that's their problem. don't change who you are for them, and don't bother feeling sorry.

I do my best to move on and remember that hating hurts the hater. Incidentally this thread caught my attention in part because I opened a 'bottle' and the question was if I hated a specific famous person.

Confuse them with kindness.. If they ever muster the courage to confront you, show nothing but love. It's hard to beat someone who doesn't fight back. Don't let them see you angry or sad, let a happy song fill your heart whenever possible. They may even see things from your point of view.

One of the five recollections that the Buddha taught every one should always remember...
"All that is mine and dear to me must change and disappear."
It's a simple fact of life, nothing lasts for ever, not even bikes. We create our own suffering when we don't accept this truth. The choice is yours; be hurt and angry for what has happened, or move forward to what ever remedy you may have (i.e. fixing or replacing the bike).
