My little cousin's bat mitzvah is this weekend. I've never been to one before.
And I have no idea what I should wear. XD
I was going to wear a dress, but about how formal should I dress?

This pickled vegetable...

The last mitzvah I went to was fairly formal so I would recommend formal but just to be safe I'd go with something neutral, a dress that could be either formal or semi-formal depending on what its surrounded by. Just be sure your shoulders are covered.

Out of curiosity, are just attending the party or are you actually going to the service?

If you're going to the service I recommend wearing something different from what you're wearing to the party and mate that outfit conservative.

... could kick your a** !!

Both. How conservative is conservative?
Most of my dresses go to or a little past the knee and I pair them with leggings.

That should be fine then. How is the rest of your family dressing and how liberal or conservative is that?

So long as your legs and shoulders are covered I don't really see a problem but you should ask some else who's actually going to be there. Either a family member or another member of your temple.

... could kick your a** !!

I'm not blood related to anyone there, but my mom and her mom were best friends since high school.
But they stopped talking about two years ago.
But my mom, my brother and I were invited. I'll ask my mom what she's wearing.

They're reform though. They don't keep kosher, their kids believe in Santa Claus, all that fun stuff.
I'm just always uncomfortable at religious functions. XD
