Two young girls sat side-by-side on a park bench. They would look absolutely identical if it were not for their haircuts; and, of course, for the Pokemon floating next to them. Their faces were the same, as were the stylers held at the ready. Kanami and Yekaterina Ivanov were interesting girls, to say the least.
Nami, as the short-haired girl liked to be called, sighed in annoyance. "What's up with this delay, anyway?" she grumbled, referring to the ship that they had planned to take. It had supposedly been en route from Fiore to Cianwood, but it had been late several hours already and the girls were tired and hungry. Katia - Yekaterina, the long-haired girl - looked down and reached into her pocket. "Are you hungry too?" the girl asked softly, pulling out a small wad of bills and looking at her twin as if to say 'I have money, so don't worry'. Then she peeled off a small amount and replaced the rest. Seeing Nami's nod, she added, "Let's just go, then. The ship will probably not get here anyway."
After eating the two felt far better, but when they returned to the port, were once again very disappointed. Their ship was still not in, and after inquiring at the help desk, they learned that it had been captured by some pirates or something. Nami had been the one to ask and she hadn't paid much attention to everything other than 'it's not coming'. So, with no prospects in the area, they gave in and transferred their tickets to another ship. This one was at least going somewhere they knew, and it was leaving in ten minutes. Gathering their light bags, the twin girls made their way onto the ferry for a trip that would seem to last an eternity.
"And we've arrived at Vermilion City, everyone! Please exit through the way you came in!" the announcer called, his voice amplified throughout the whole ship and waking up the two sleeping girls. They'd been curled up next to each other, Katia's head resting on Nami's shoulder, and like most, did not care to be woken up. "W-wha?" Katia slurred, blinking the sleep from her eyes. "Are we..." she paused to yawn, "there yet?" It wasn't as if Nami was any better, but she nodded. "Yeah, think so." The two righted themselves, slung their bags over their shoulders, and were on their way.
It wasn't that they picked Vermilion for its pleasant weather or for the beautiful stretches of beach; they picked it because they'd heard it was amazingly tolerant of everyone, and they figured they'd fit right in. "Hey, Nami...where are we going?" Katia asked, her sister's hand wrapped tightly around her wrist. "The Pokemon Center," her twin said, smiling and looking back. Their footsteps made impacts on the sand and finally on the paved ground. Soon they came to the entrance of the Pokemon Center.
Nami froze and grabbed Katia's hand tightly. "What's going on?" the long-haired girl asked quietly, noticing the uneasy looks Nami was giving the blonde girl and boy nearby. "I don't know, but they look real shady, don'tcha think?" she muttered. Katia gave her a confused look. "I...I really don't think so. They just look like a cute couple to me."
