In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient spacefaring civilization. In the decades that followed, these mysterious artifacts revealed startling new technologies, enabling travel to the furthest stars. The basis for this incredible technology was a force that controlled the very fabric of space and time.
They called it the greatest discovery in human history.
The civilizations of the galaxy call it...

MASS EFFECT

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Mass Effect fields allowed the new human alliance to expand greatly throughout the galaxy, beginning by meeting the council of aliens, consisting of Asari, Salarian, and Turian councilors. In a mere 20 years, the humans gained a position on the council, much to the ire of the long standing races who have yet to receive a spot, such as the Volus and Elcor (even if you couldn't really tell with the Elcor anyway). Many species have been becoming more common as of late, starting with an insurgence of Geth from beyond the Perseus Veil. Their commander, oddly enough, was a former Spectre, an agent of the council. Why an organic was leading an army of artificial intelligences was unknown at the time, but even the council could not overlook the evidence that Saren, their most trusted agent, had now turned on them.

The reason the humans gained their seat on the council was the same reason the Geth were stopped; a single human commander named Shepard. Shepard was an inspiration, able to lead a team of elites through suicidal odds and come out on top. The trouble is, nobody knew Shepard that well. Was he a paragon of virtue, or a renegade who did whatever it took to get the job done? Regardless, Shepard vanished in the Omega Nebula, searching for Geth. The remains of the ship, the SSV Normandy, were found obliterated on the world of Alchera. Many bodies were found, but Shepard's was not. Rumors of Shepard being brought back from the dead were circulating around the galaxy, but instead of working for the human alliance, he was now working with a terrorist cell named Cerberus.

Regardless, the galaxy is still recovering from the attack on the Citadel, a giant cruiser that houses the council and many citizens in a melting pot of culture. Recently, reports of an unknown alien race were becoming alarmingly high, only shortly after the disappearance of several human colonies in the fringe worlds, supposedly by the Collectors. Rumor also had it that these new aliens coming towards the galaxy were an ancient race called the Reapers. While some say that the Reapers had destroyed and rebuilt the galaxy, using the former races of the galaxy as servants to reinforce their consistent destruction of all life in the Milky Way, the Council has been violently suppressing these rumors.

Now, with Shepard out of action (or at least hiding from the public eye), a new team of commandos would need to be assembled to stop the Reaper threat. Can these soldiers save the galaxy? Or will they too become victims of the Reapers?

To begin with, this is based off the Bioware RPG, Mass Effect. Here are a few things you should know about my assumptions of the progress of the game. While I have tried to remove Shepard and his/her team from the picture, I can only assume so much before it becomes more difficult to not say anything than to make some basic assumptions. Here they are, along with my RP's rules:

1. If you haven't played Mass Effect, you will be VERY lost with what's happening here. While I don't require that you've played either game, I would greatly appreciate if you read over the Mass Effect Wiki and get a just about the story and the characters. Then again, if you don't know about Mass Effect, then why are you in this guild?

2. I am assuming Shepard is a Male Paragon. While not all of his actions are the paragon options, I will assume, for example, that he saved the Rachni Queen on Noveria, that he saved the Council at the end of Mass Effect 1, and that he destroyed the Collector base at the end of Mass Effect 2. I will try to not assume either of these things, and will try to make it so my sentences do not reflect that he is male to make it ambiguous, but if it comes down to it, Male Paragon. And in case this also isn't made clear, no, I will NOT allow you to RP Shepard. And I refuse to budge on this issue.

3. In case number two didn't make it clear, I am putting the story timeline after Mass Effect 2, but probably slightly before Mass Effect 3. The Reapers are coming, and it's up to our characters to figure out a way to stop them and their fleet.

4. Yes, I will allow any Mass Effect race. If you want to be an Elcor biotic, go right ahead. ("Angry shout: Take THAT!" ) I don't even mind if you're too out of place for your race (a soft-hearted Krogan?), but do try and offer a reason as to why they don't accept a part of the culture they were raised in. If I may offer a suggestion, "raised by their Asari mother" is always an option. Note also that I do have the few biological rules that the universe follows, like there are no Asari males, so I expect you all to follow them too.

5. I do ask to review your profile via PM before you start posting, so please send it to me first. I don't have some secret code or anything that I'm hiding (I hate that), so please just title it "Mass Effect Guild RP Character" or something like that, and I'll get the idea. Please include that it is for the guild RP as opposed to a non-guild RP. Mostly because I have a non-guild version of this in the works as well; I'd like to see where both of them go seperately.

6. While you could be a combination of Soldier/Tech/Biotic, please do not be badass at everything. If you're a tech/biotic combination, you can only use a pistol, and you're not great at it, for example. If you're a straight soldier, I don't want you flinging biotic fireballs.

7. While I will try and remain as canonical as possible, sometimes going away from canon may be the most fun. If you have a problem with something I do, please let me know. Refer to the wiki or to a specific codex from ME 1 or 2 about where canon says otherwise, and I will do my best to fix it. But just remember...

8. While I will try and be adaptive, if people fight and argue outside of their characters, I have the final say about what happens. I don't intend to ever use that right, but if I must, I must.

9. Oh, one more thing about canon. I will allow canon characters, as long as you don't totally go off the deep end and change their personality, etc. Their bio should be on the wiki, so you can copy parts from that if you use them as your character.

Character profiles should be descriptive enough that I know what you're going for with your character. Pictures would be nice, but I sincerely doubt you'll be able to get all the pictures you want, especially if you're a non-human character. If you play a human character, you can easily take a screenshot from Mass Effect 1 or 2 (your Shepard) and use that as a picture. For every other race, good luck finding a picture that works. And yes, I do require a description of their appearance.

Character List

Active Characters

User: Kain456
Name: Quasar Morandor
Age: 60
Race: Turian
Gender: Male
Class: Infiltrator (Soldier/Tech)
Powers/Abilities: Quasar can become invisible for short periods of time using a distortion shielding which makes him invisible to the naked eye. Firing eliminates the shield, causing him to become visible again. He can also open locked doors and containers, as well as hacking computers.
Weapons: Pistols, Sub-Machine Guns, Sniper Rifles
Allegiance: Council, but most notably to the Turian community on the citadel.
Spacer/Colonist/Home-Planet Born: Colonist
Paragon/Neutral/Renegade: Paragon
Biography: Quasar, like most Turians, entered the military at age 15. He served several years at C-Sec, and while he hated his run-ins with petty crooks and drug dealers, he began to notice a sharp increase in crime over time. Unsure what to think about this, he tried to turn his concerns over to the council. Needless to say, the opinions of one C-Sec officer really didn't matter to the Council. While he has done his duty, he has been on the Citadel long enough to see the humans not only come to the citadel with the other races, but suddenly been offered a seat of power. While he takes this in stride, he wonders if humans are really worth the trouble. When the Turian-Human war ended, Quasar left C-Sec and became a private investigator on board the Citadel, doing the work that C-Sec was either too busy, or being bribed too much, to overlook. His idol is Garrus Vakarian, due to his role as Archangel aboard Omega, and really dealing a hit to the criminal underworld where it hurts. Even though Garrus is younger than him, Quasar respects Garrus' means to stop lawbreakers. (How did Quasar find out about that, you may ask? He's a private investigator; it's his job to figure these things out.)
Personality: Quasar is often sarcastic and untrusting, but can most definitely follow orders. He has been trying to hob-knob his way to seeing the council and getting a position with them, Spectre or not, and sometimes his desperation can show through. Overall, he's a team player, but may not be the voice of authority in a group.
Appearance: http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery-05/art/me-turian.jpg
Random Fact: Quasar got his name from the fact that while traveling to the Citadel to start a new life, his parents passed by a nearby quasar on the way to the mass effect field.
