Brian heaved a loud sigh before slumping down on one of the many beds. He ran his hands through his hair, hunching forward. When that made no difference to his mood, he let out a groan instead. Straightening up, he finally looked at Erica and got her gaze.
'I'm ******** tired of being here.' He said, for what must have been the hundredth time.
'I know.' Erica said heavily. 'So am I.'
'Jess is waiiting for me, we put off the ******** wedding!'
'...I know.' Erica sighed. Chloe wasn't going to be there. There had always been doubts, but now it was certain. She wouldn't be there for anything. Not the wedding, nor the eventual nieces or nephews.
'I really need a cigarette.' The blonde finally remarked, Brian letting out a frustrated growl.
'And I need to go home! We all do!'
'They're getting us when it's safe.' Allison remarked dully from beneath her novel.
'Well why isn't it "safe"?! I don't god damn get any of this--Chloe's
gone, what the hell danger are
we in?'
'Oh, Brian!' Their mother said, causing Erica to jump in surprise.
Brian was in no state to be chided, however, and said a moody 'Well it's true and we all know it.'
Allison sighed in frustration, letting the book drop onto her face and putting her arms up over her head. Erica rubbed at her eyes. It wasn't just the death that got to her or anyone else. They were confused, and she knew that. What had happened to Chloe during the last year and a half, and how it was effecting them all now, it didn't make any sense.
'Let's go for a walk and get something to eat, Brian.' Their father commanded. 'You girls want anything?'
'Find smokes.' Was all Allison had to say.
'Heh, well...I'll keep an eye open.' He replied, all of them knowing
that was a lost cause.
'Fine.' Brian muttered, standing and heading out of the room. Their father gave his wife's shoulder a squeeze before standing and leaving as well. She began to slowly go through some of their belongings, unfolding and folding a top of hers before putting it aside on the bed. Erica watched silently, sinking back against the wall and eventually closing her eyes.
