PLEASE SHARE YOUR TANK STATS HERE

I am seeking information from HT tank owners on gold production from your tanks. I get asked what kinds of fish to buy that will pay for themselves but have little to compare with besides my dolphins. My hope is this thread will assist new tank owners in deciding what to purchase. It may also assist experienced tank owners considering a change of fish or trying something new in a mule tank.

If you wish to remain anonymous you can PM me and I will strip out anything that would identify you and post you as anon.

At the bottom of this post is the code for the survey questions to make it easy to copy / paste the bolded questions without needing to quote this post.

Thank you for taking the time to help other tank owners by completing this survey. smile

All of the below information is desired. All of it is optional. If there is some stuff you are unable or unwiling to share that is okay. Thank you for what ever you are willing to share with us. If you have mule accounts please either make a separate post for each mule or split out the information so we are only looking at stats for one tank of fish. For example, I have six dolphin tanks. The daily gold average for the three older tanks with more exposure is a bit more than that of the three newer tanks. Other than that their data is very similar. If some data is a guess or estimate please state that.

Edit - I made one minor change on #12 to say fish instead of tank. I meant will you continue to have this type of tank (more of the same fish) as opposed to creating additional tanks of the same type. Although the mentality is the same either way I guess. I want know if you feel it was a good move and plan to repeat it. smile

1. What type(s) of fish are you reporting on and how many?
2. Link to Aquarium analyzer for your tank
3. Exposure - How many booty grab threads are you posted in?
4. Do you use a glow thread to get additional play?
5. On average how much gold do you get per day from your tank?
6. Are your fish paying for themselves and/or turning a profit?
7. Do you recommend this type of fish to other experienced tank owners?
8. Do you recommend this type of fish to new tank owners with lower exposure?
9. Glow times - Do you track them and if so how many times per day average do you glow? Example glow times appreciated.
10. If yes to #9 please share how you go about tracking times.
11. Do you stalk your own tank(s)?
12. Do you plan to purchase more of the same type of fish?
13. Acceptance - How would you rate this fish / mix of fish? Easy to get invites? People like to play it ? Consider it too laggy? Etc.
14. Comments - Any advice or other comments you would like to share with users trying to decide what kind of fish to buy?

1. What type(s) of fish are you reporting on and how many?
Dolphins - full tank(s) of 17

2. Link to Aquarium analyzer for your tank

My main tank is here: http://absol.site88.net/gtools/glowTime.php?id=4072873
Stats on the other tanks are the same except DOB/DOD

3. Exposure - How many booty grab threads are you posted in?
My older three tanks - 240+ My newer three tanks 80+

4. Do you use a glow thread to get additional play?

You bet. It gets bumped a lot. My new thread has abou 440 pages and due to old posts my old thread still gets bumped and has about 230 pages. I don't believe it is my main source of play but it helps. If you need help creating a fast glow thread see here:
GLOW THREAD and REPLY link

5. On average how much gold do you get per day from your tank?
Older tanks about 110k / day each. Newer tanks about 90k / day each. It varies. Sometimes even a new tank will have a 120k day. Recent daily average of all six tanks together is 102k / tank.

6. Are your fish paying for themselves and/or turning a profit?
Definite Yes. Smaller profit now that dolphin prices have gone up but still IMO one of the easier fish to make pay for themselves. If Gaia nerfs them then I guess we shall see what we shall see.

7. Do you recommend this type of fish to other experienced tank owners?
Yes. Some folks stay dolphins are boring (true) but people like them because they drop a lot of gold. WIth a full tank it is easy to get invites.

8. Do you recommend this type of fish to new tank owners with lower exposure?
Yes if you can afford it. They are popular and live longer than some fish so you have time to build up exposure before they die.

9. Glow times - Do you track them and if so how many times per day average do you glow? Example glow times appreciated.
No sorry I don't. Just casually by looking at posts in my glow thread but no real numbers to go on. My daily tank gold averages are so steady if Gaia makes a change it shows up there real fast.

10. If yes to #9 please share how you go about tracking times.
N/A

11. Do you stalk your own tank(s)?
No. I feel my time is better invested getting more invites. The net effect of being posted in lots of places is it is sort of like other people are stalking for me. I almost always get bumped and often get full games. Stalking can certainly help for those who have less exposer and/or have the time to do it.

12. Do you plan to purchase more of the same type of fish?
Yes. Actually I already have. I hoard gold then buy up when the market price dips like during a 1/2 off fish sale.

13. Acceptance - How would you rate this fish / mix of fish? Easy to get invites? People like to play it ? Consider it too laggy? Etc.
A full tank of dolphins is very easy to get invites for. Invites usually seek me out and I've only been turned down twice. In both cases it was because the BG thread owner was creating a very specific thread (e.g. nothing but mini-monsters).

14. Comments - Any advice or other comments you would like to share with users trying to decide what kind of fish to buy?

If your tank has limited exposure do not start with mini-monsters or some other short lived fish. You will need time get exposure before the fish die or you will lose your investment.
Have a backup plan. One tank you can MAINTAIN is better than two tanks that end up empty because you can't afford replacements.
Save up your fish and put them in all at once (full tank or close to it). It is easy to get invites for a full dolphin tank. It is hard to get invites for a tank with four dolphins and not too many people will play your glow.
Do NOT rely on the freezer or ghost fish glitches to guarantee your ROI. Gaia is aware of them and I expect at some point they will fix them.

14. Comments - Any advice or other comments you would like to share with users trying to decide what kind of fish to buy? For newer tanks, I suggest grunny subs! They get invites and people stalk them. I wouldn't advise too many GSC's until you get more exposure.
Of course, most of my fish have the life glitch. I would like to go on record as saying I would appreciate if Gaia fixed this!

I have 17 dolphins
2. Link to Aquarium analyzer for your tank http://absol.site88.net/gtools/glowTime.php?id=134865
3. Exposure - How many booty grab threads are you posted in?
omg... I created 5 by myself and posted in about...250 or more? Not including the guilds in which I'm.
4. Do you use a glow thread to get additional play?
Yap. I use ONE thread for my tanks. http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/compose/entry/new/56682529/
5. On average how much gold do you get per day from your tank?
Form ma main I get between 80k an 120k.
6. Are your fish paying for themselves and/or turning a profit?
The pay for themselves. But it's hard work. htey also give out a profit.
7. Do you recommend this type of fish to other experienced tank owners?
I'm not quite sure if I should recommand them. there are so many dolphin owners, that the games do not get full every time. For people willing to work hard, I would recommand them.
8. Do you recommand this type of fish to new tank owners with lower exposure?
I started with dolphins. You have to take some time to prepare and get to know everything. I would not recommand them to new tank owners.
9. Glow times - Do you track them and if so how many times per day average do you glow? Example glow times appreciated. I'm not quiete sure how often I glow, but I guess about 8 to 9 times per day.
10. If yes to #9 please share how you go about tracking times.
11. Do you stalk your own tank(s)?
yes I do and I have a stalker.
12. Do you plan to purchase more of the same type of tank.
I allready made one for my mule and consider to buy more.
13. Acceptance - How would you rate this fish / mix of fish? Easy to get invites? People like to play it ? Consider it too laggy? Etc.
People like to play it, cause it's the fish with the highest gold amount. Today it's not that easy to get invites. it lags sometimes.
14. Comments - Any advice or other comments you would like to share with users trying to decide what kind of fish to buy?
you should not set in your fishis before you have the whole amount that you need for your tank.

5. On average how much gold do you get per day from your tank?30k - 60k Depends how active I am.

6. Are your fish paying for themselves and/or turning a profit?Yes, already have.

7. Do you recommend this type of fish to other experienced tank owners? Yes

8. Do you recommend this type of fish to new tank owners with lower exposure?Yes

9. Glow times - Do you track them and if so how many times per day average do you glow? Example glow times appreciated.I don't keep track. But lately (since the tank strike is over) I still seem to be glowing less. I track my profit increases.

10. If yes to #9 please share how you go about tracking times.

11. Do you stalk your own tank(s)?Yes

12. Do you plan to purchase more of the same type of tank.Full tank of dolphins or a mix of dolphins and monsters.

13. Acceptance - How would you rate this fish / mix of fish? Easy to get invites? People like to play it ? Consider it too laggy? Etc.It can be laggy, and the mix sometimes makes it hard to get invites, maybe with more dolphins = more invites. But it's still a good grab.

14. Comments - Any advice or other comments you would like to share with users trying to decide what kind of fish to buy? It's very time consuming and takes a while for your tank to get out there. Patience is a virtue and it's not going to be cheap to get the fish either as well as trying to get the profit back if you aren't posting your tank around and stalking your tank waiting for glows. ♥
