Steam is a game management, messaging, gaming, and purchasing programme and I recommend you install it.

Well I may be getting the AlienWare M11X and it is able to be automatically put into the computer this is a real badass laptop, but how do you get STEAM games? do you purchase them Via credit card or what?

You purchase them off the Steam client.
Alternatively, you can purchase the game in-store, install it, then register it on Steam to play on Steam servers.

I've heard about many problems back in the day about steam..... Can't say there is cause I don't use it, but I really liked xfire.
