Yep. Which makes me want to out style them. Which isn't working right now so I try harder.

And that's what it takes to be a graffiti writer... although the ego side is unappealing, that's the way things are. We battle to put our skills to the test, and the egocentric writers keep us wanting to improve and refine our skills to someday take them out... Then the cycle continues. Don't get me wrong, few writers figure it out, but most will never know. The few that do figure it out aren't egocentric at all. There will be humble writers, and there will be the majority who stay stuck in that loop and eventually leave graffiti to the past...

lol since middle school... let me do the math... what is it, I think 11 years? But in middle school it was small time s**t just mastering the basic blocks and bubbles, and handstyles. I didn't start getting up til high school, throwin up some whack handstyles and some ok bombs. I didn't start getting mad ups, til' after high school, bombin, flares, pieces, productions, competitions... yeah those where the good old days... after I got burned I was out for about 2 years cause of some strict felony probation and now I'm just in it for the art I guess, I'm more about styles then the ups... Don't get me wrong tho, If there's a spot I want, then I'll go for it, but I only go big... There's this one spot I've had my eye on for a long while, but It's going to be real big, and it's a heaven spot... waaaaay up there... but I was thinking of throwing up 4 giant wheatpastes, one for each letter, cause there's noway to paint that b***h... lol but I need to plan it out more and get the equipment for it... but yeah.. that's my graff life in a quick summary, minus the beef and drama... lol

Go big or go home, if your not going bigger then the last time you went out, your not doing it right. And i concur with your earlier statement about ego's. its a part of being a writer, and as long as you stay in that loop you'll never be the best you can be.

You could just get a fire extinguisher for that spot, naw-mean?

Wow. awesome. I'm still a baby of 3 years. I'm more a dabbler than anything. And I prefer paste ups 'n stickers, I don't like having to rush my characters. I was doodling them once and this guy saw me. He asked if I was IFM cause he recognized my style. Turned out he was part of a crew that does some mean pieces, UGC. I guess its not hard to be recognized when your the only person repping stickers in your corner of town. Ha ha. But looking at my early stickers... I'm glad they were ripped down. They make me cringe

I hear you, i can't stand my old handstyle, nor my current. I've been at it for almost two years, i have an okay throw, lack a hand, and only can piece simples. And i was out catching the freights everyday, untill i got arrested, my two year semi retirement, and my partner moved.

I think thats what makes me want to improve. Not so much an overflow in bravado, more like a self hatred of everything I do. "Thats s**t, I gotta do better next time."

That's the mental state of an artist, never satisfied with their work, always wanting to make it better. It's the right state of mind for a graffiti artist, if you ask me... rolleyes

Like the second and third ones. Top one confuses the ******** out of me (that kind of writing usually does, so that's nothing personal).

but man, leave the ego at the door. just makes you look like a douchecanoe.

Lol, douchecanoe.

I'm stealing that word.
Just sayin'.

Anyways.
I need to so more stickers.
I like stickers. I like how easy they are to get up with.
I do a LOT of stickers when it comes to dollorama-bought, simple stickers with anti-political slogans and s**t, but I don't do many character stickers as of recent. Just too much money to buy good sticker paper to cut and good paint markers, etc. xP

Lol when I'm really broke and want to do decently sized characters I just grab computer paper and a can of spray glue. A little cumbersome, but they come out at a nice size etc.
