Here's my big question..if the Doctor wasn't so hell bent on them revealing their plans, would they have never remembered they were the Daleks? It's like he forced them to remember who they were..so would they have stayed helpful little pepper pots?

I could be wrong but I don't think they forgot. They just needed the Doctor to say they were Daleks for the machine thingy to go. I think it was all just their plan to make him say it. I'll have to watch it again to be sure.

You're right. They needed the Doctor to confirm they were the Daleks because they were impure, and the machine wouldn't recognize them.

But wait were they human type daleks from S1 or Davros daleks from S4?

I assume they're from S1 simply because Davros said that his were "true Daleks"

Funny, sad, astonishing and ultimately kind of unfulfilling by turns.

I only watched this episode just now, after already spoiling for myself that there would be multi-coloured daleks and it was just a one parter. I envisioned it being a rather sad swansong for the daleks, seeing as they've yet to have less than a two-parter in every season to date aside from 'Dalek' way back when everyone thought they weren't going to come back at all.

I loved the 'Ironside' daleks to bits, sad to see them get demolished. The new boys are kind of trying too hard to look modern and future-sy I think. I also liked the ludicrous Independence Day Spitfires in space nonsense...but at the end of the day, even new uber-daleks couldn't exterminate the doctor when he was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM FFS.

For once I'm hoping the daleks don't show in the finale. I'm sure someone'll find a good way to use them but...yeah. I don't really want to seem them again too soon. They're just too different from the awesome daleks of seasons past and they're certainly no Cult of Skaro :/

I think I read somewhere that the S1 Daleks were made for the Doctor's height, so they wanted to fix that (idk), and additionally in the extra info bits in the commercials on BBCA (I'm assuming they're coming from the Confidential), someone said something like they're starting brand new - new Doctor, new Tardis, so why not have new Daleks as well.

I really hope they aren't a finale Big Bad... it'd be nice to have something more original. razz

The last Daleks are scaled to be an inch bigger to meet Rose's eye and that wasn't noticed, other than that they are pretty much the same as S1 Daleks. New ones was gonna have the balls removed, helmet and more of a square shape untill Mark Thompson pointed out it that he would hate it and so would everyone else, forcing SM to re-think the make over and pass it on to the art team to handle. This idea was so far a head they had even started building a base for the new square-ish Daleks.

Acording to SM's webcast.
