Yeah, I probably won't be around much. My laptop s**t out on me, again, so I'm going to just say ******** it and buy a new one, I needed a better one anyhow. So until I get one, I probably wont be online at all, except the rare occasions, like right now.
I just figured I'd give a heads up.

On the one hand, your computer conking out again sucks.
On the other, more free time to write music.
Either way, hope you're back sooner than later.

I just ordered a new laptop. A Toshiba Satellite L555D-s7005, its not the best laptop, but it should be good enough to do what I need it to do.
@Ash: Actually, being in an electronic band, even though its mostly hardware based, the computer plays a big part. So, I can't write the full music, but only about three quarters of it and try to imagine what the rest is going to sound like.....so pretty much, my music has been amputated a little.

That makes sense now that I think about it. I neglected to consider the fact that you're hard-pressed to use editing software without a functioning computer. But surely one of your co-musicians has a working machine? My Hollow I love my toshiba. It's indestructible. I'm reassured to hear that, considering I bought a Satellite laptop a few months back.

The only time it has ever given me trouble was when I didnt delete my browsing history for 11 and a half months. TeeHee. I deleted it, and it refreshed, I didnt even have to reboot it.

Alright I'm back. My computer arrived today, I love it. It seems very similar to my old laptop, which I like because I was having a hard time adjusting to my moms when I borrowed it a few times. It certainly does seem pretty durable, though, my old one was built like a tank and weight twice as much. This one however, is really light, sleak, but still has that well-built feeling to it. So hopefully Hollow, its not just your laptop thats durable but mine too, because I have to bring mine around to two band practices and when I start playing shows it going to have to come onstage with me. I really hope its built strong.....at least it was only $630, I wont feel so bad if this one breaks like I did with my old one, which cost me $1600. stressed And I love windows 7 so much more than vista which my old computer had, so thats a plus. But surely one of your co-musicians has a working machine?Yeah, I use a lot of samples and I need to edit them, put them in the proper sequence and then play them, using my computer. I was planning on using an Ipod or something to play the samples since they go throughout the whole song but there is too much latency that it doesn't work. And actually no, no one else has a computer. Well, one of the people has one but its broken, it needs a new motherboard, but he should have a laptop soon, but that still didn't help the current situation.

Windows 7 is so cash. 3nodding
And I'm honestly really surprised that you're in a band that purportedly makes electronic music, yet you're the only one with a functioning computer.

I'm also the only one who owns any synthesizers, well in one of the bands someone else owns one, but not counnting him I'm the only one.
I guess maybe someone might have a working laptop, but I doubt they'd have the right software and stuff to really use their computer.

I'm in practically the same situation as Digi was, hence my absence. Computer crapped out for the last time, finally, after about 6 years and at least 20 complete meltdowns and such. Now I have to wait for a new one, but sudden unforeseen expenses got in the way. confused
