Canoake sat on her bunk in the weyr brat barracks thinking quietly to herself. It was just after midday meal and she had snuck off to start working on a new course of actions for her goal of becoming a gold rider. Now that High Reaches had pretty much declared their ill will towards Telgar, any thought of transferring was out. Not that she would leave anyways. Canoake had a nice following from many of the other weyr brats and she knew of a couple of riders that she could count on for...favors if need be.

Rumors. Rumors. Rumors.

If the rumors were to be believed, one of High Reaches own had poisoned their own in attempts to get back at their Weyrwoman. This angered Canoake simply because it proved that men were incapable of controlling a Weyr. But Iva... Could they trust someone like her?

And with no gold egg laid, it was now Iva and Ranabeth who might rescue the weyr from that particular predicament. Canoake swung her legs back and forth, ideas forming and dissolving. Dark green eyes were intense as she was lost in her own thoughts and not paying heed to any around her.

"Pardon me. I'm here for your bedsheets."

There was a soft voice at the door, one that had followed a gentle rap that was intended to get the occupant of the room's attention. A young woman, rather tall and pale, graced the entryway, a basket in her hands already loaded with soiled sheets from other rooms. Two long and loose braids hung about her neck and shoulders, rolling around with a vibrant shade of russet that seemed to be one of the main causes for why the girl looked so sallow.

"If you wouldn't mind giving them to me, I'll take them to be washed."

Finelly smiled brightly at the occupant of the room, knowing that she probably should know the name of the girl - yet she had no idea whatsoever. They were Candidates, and this one had a figure that looked so familiar, but for the life of her she couldn't place a name to the face. Not really a tragedy, but it did make things awkward.

A hesitant voice broke through the fog of Canoake's thoughts. Looking up, alert in an instant in case it was someone coming to find her for chores, Canoake schooled her face to reflect nothing. Then she realized it was another brat like herself making the rounds for laundry and dirty stuffs. She looked the girl over trying to remember if she remembered the girl's name at all.

Probably not.

Canoake tended to only remember the names of useful people around the weyr.

Still, there was no reason in being rude and she did need to get her sheets changed out. Standing up, Canoake noticed that the girl was a little bit taller than her but didn't quite cut the figure like she did however her eyes gave her face some characteristic. She might be useful for gathering information or possibly as an ally later. "Of course, forgive me. I was woolgathering before I had to get on to my own chores."

"Not a problem at all. If you would please allow me to gather, I'll be on my way then."

Finelly was rather a person of few words when it came to people who didn't want to start conversations, and she sort of had a agenda (or something) to get done before too long. This room was one of the last on her lists to get the bedding from, all the others already stripped by her efficient time plotting. Usually the young woman liked to get things when no one was around, it made having to explain what she was doing to others should they be there less occurring, but sometimes she didn't get lucky and had to talk to others. Not that she wasn't friendly or anything - it was just time consuming.

"Is there anyone else who shares this bunk with you? If so, I'll be needing their bedding as well. It's much easier to do a massive clean in one go then several over the course of a few days."

Doing her best to keep her expression neutral, she didn't need the wrinkles after all, she gathered up her bedding and handed them to the girl. She took the girl in and tried to draw out conversation. Allies were always a plus and to have it in with someone in laundry... Why the only people who gossiped and knew more were possibly the cooks. "Not right at the moment. I am afraid I am hogging up what space I can. And you are right about that. Best to get it over and down with than to drag it out. I'm Canoake... I believe I may have seen you around..."

She waited to see if the girl would fill her name in.
