Generally, we have sexual morals because people had political or social agendas and had tools such as religion in order to aid in the enforcement of social and political policy. This still happens today.

Jump back a few years and someone is saying that sex is bad and the body is unclean in order to stop people from having sex outside of marriage. Changing the fun of sex into a religious duty that is nigh sinful to enjoy (stay in the missionary position, kiddies. God likes that). I'm kind of glad that I grew up with these morals because it gives me a better perspective, but the only thing i learned from them is guilt.

I doggedly pursued knowledge of sex and the 'adult conspiracy' on my own. My morality is piecemeal, formed form personal experience and examination of my own levels of tolerance. There are some things I buy into and others that I don't based on my grasp of human nature.

I have premarital sex like a ********, but it doesn't make me love my partner less for it. In fact, I recognize my need to be fulfilled physically as well as emotionally. I link the two because they are linked in my relationships, not because I mistake sex for love.

I think we are overly serious about aspects of sex, such as virginity (and the ersatz innocence associated with it), so-called 'abnormal' sexual behaviours (such as homosexuality), and marriage (yes, i'll explain this).

Virgins are held as socially elite in a lot of circles. This has reached ridiculous proportions so that people are reclaiming what they already lost. Of course, the technicalities and degrees by which people today lose 'it' are constantly in debate. After all, blowjobs don't count, they say. So, we have those who suffer the slings and arrows of the hymen and 'hand men' elite.

'Slut' and 'Whore' are such pretty terms. I'm so glad that they are words that your innocence will allow you to sling with such impunity.

Homosexuality. Ditch every television representation of homosexuality that you've ever seen. Go to school and look around your crowded locker room. Chances are that a few them are gay (yes, boys and girls, it's true). Hell, some of them don't even know it yet.

However, we are bombarded with charicatures of airy homosexuals, concerned with versace and sex. Awesome. In the quest for widespread appeal and social acceptance, homosexuals find themselves relegated to a position traditionally held in television media by the negro: Comic relief, nothing more than a gross facsimile dancing to the comic amusement of the crowd.

Would you like some watermelon and fried chicken with that, Will? Grace thinks it's funny.

Marriage is built up as a sacred institution. It's apparently a Godly ceremony in which people can marry their significant other, as long as it's female (if you're male, male (if you're female), a millionaire, a midget, a bachelor, a bachelorette or a construction worker who gets gifted with a cool million in the gut-wrenching final episode. Of course, the respectability and stark christianity of marriage is completely obvious.

Especially since other cultures that do not practice christianity do it. But, hey, only WASPs get married, those other heathens are no better than rutting pigs.

It was all bad humours.

still, the wandering uterus was classic.

So, there you have it. We are beset upon all sides by sexual stereotypes and taught to deny who we really are and what really turns us on.

What do you think of when you consider Sexual Morality?

Bloody.. hell.

I had a huge, and I do mean huge response typed for this. Sources, links, the whole shebang. But alas, my computer does this splendid little thing where it shuts off at random and the whole of it was lost. Soon as the time strikes up again, alongside motivation, I'll give it another go.

Just thought I'd let you know, so you were aware that someone did read your rant.

I just wanted to point out that until about the 1400's/1500's [sorry, can't remember exact date lines on this], marriage was never claimed to be a sacrement. That was implemented by a Pope in the hopes that the upper classes would stop dissolving marriages and trying to enter into more adventageous unions and causing confusion in terms of inheritance. So to scream about the evil standard Christianity set in regards to marriage isn't how it's *always* been and there are plenty of people in the Bible with multiple wives.

As for the rest of this. Eh, believe what you want to?

Eh being that this is more a rant and not really a debate, it's what you want to think, go for it.

Errr... the Bible isn't 2000 years old, lol. The Old Testament was very much cumulative, so a date is almost impossible to pinpoint. As for the New Testament, which one are you talking about? The King James? That's only 500 years old. It's completly different from the Bible that was originally put together 1600 years ago.

Aaanyways, digression. I do agree with you. What people do in their private lives (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone unwillingly) is their own business.

For all intents and purposes, the Bible is more of an institution than a set compilation of books. It's more like 1600+, yus. Cuz the council convened in like 325 or something.

Regardless, it is a rant.

Gosh, I wonder why it's here.
