Yet another weekend spent wandering around, avoiding his dad. Dante whistled lightly, thinking of all the torment that his big brother was going through, which he wasn't. Of course, as soon as he went home, he would go through it as well, but for now he was free!

Learning self defense was a pain in the a**, literally. He winced as he felt his muscles complain from the last lesson two days ago, and looked around for something to distract him with.

The area he was walking through was one of those small house and business towns. There was a strip of shops, which he was almost through, and then the neighborhood. But neither looked very prosperous. In fact there was a massive house just ahead that had been boarded up. In front of the house hung a sign for a real estate, one so faded that you could barely see the names. It creaked on rusty chains from a wooden pole.

Ackley hadn't been "floating" around for very long when his struck had gazed the poor and shambled house. From the back it looked like a terrifying monster which swallowed all the happiness around it. This small town, the place where they were, was the place where they would be moving. Ackley's Papa had needed a new place to stay after their old home had been taken back by his grandparents.

So Papa had decided to move them out here. Ackley knew this new home wouldn't be the nicest thing at first but he had been reassured over and over that after the renovations it would be like shining gold. Smiling the boy attempted to look through one of the windows. It was all dark.

"If you want to explore, go ahead, I've got some paperwork to go do with the Realtor." noted his father. Before Ackley could mention anything else he was left alone. His feet were cold on the side-walk and his face was twisted in disgust.

The building smelt like death.

Pulling his wits about him the boy struggled to get his feet moving before he pushed open the back, off-white, picket-fence gate. It stirred a bit of dirt in the air and when it had finally cleared Ackley glanced around the garden. The grass was bending and flowing in the afternoon air. The rusted swing set continued to creek as the wind pushed it gently back and forth. All around the place was a horror house.

However, the boy would pursue further. He had to discover if their were any monsters in here like his Papa said their were in these death houses.

Dante's eyes caught on movement and he moved closer, seeing a little boy inside the gate. Inwardly he cursed and looked around, trying to find a parent or someone. No one was there, so reluctantly he headed for the gate, slipping through with a wince as it squeaked in protest. "Hey," he called to the kid. "Should you really be here?"

Ackley only had heard the voice when his body began gravitating towards it. "No, I shouldn't- should you? My Papa is buying this house. That means it is mine. So do you really belong?" Ackley looked over the boy with a curious glance before his distracted mind directed him to a mound of crawling ants.

Moving over he keeled before them and stretched out his invisible hand. "I wonder why big house go empty and creaky." Ackley asked. His mind reverted back to his child-like form and he looked around curiously. "Who are you big boy?"

"My name's Dante," Dante replied. "And even if it is your house, I'm betting your dad's gonna get it fixed up before you move in, right? So you don't fall through the floor." Like he was one to talk, he thought dryly. His own house was a lot like this one. Of course he knew there weren't any ghosts there, his uncle was a magician and kept them from coming.

"I bet whoever owned this place died a long, long time ago," he said, looking at the house. "That's why it's so empty and creaky."

Ackley turned his attention to a clanking window panel. It banged up against the window each time the wind blew; which it had for the past few minutes. "Let's go to that window and fix it." Ackley pointed to the second story bedroom window with excitement and turning his head he smiled at the other.

An adventure through the vast jungle of grass and up the grand staircase into the haunted creaking house would be perfect for a day like this. He couldn't agree more. Pressing his hand to his nose he drew a line to the door and furrowed his eyebrows. The door was a distance away, but the boy knew he could make it.

Rubbing his invisible hands together his dark eyes tracked the grass to the other boy. "Should we explore it?" he asked.
