Pokemon!
Original 149 (no mew/mewtwo) we each choose a pokemon to start with, doesn't matter what so long as it isn't evolved or legendary. We'll start from pallet town, meet up with the professor then head right on our merry way to start our new lives as pokemon trainers!
we'll be 14 or 15, fresh out of pokemon trainer school
If we decide to, we can always leave kanto and head over to johto.

Oz ran out of his house, a pack slung over one shoulder and a giant grin on his face. Today he began his adventure, the thing he'd been looking forward to his entire life. The fall of his hiking boots made little puffs of dirt in the ground as he ran. He pulled a pair of sun glasses out of a side pocket on his pack and put them on, completing his attire for now. He wore a pair of faded jeans and a dark purple shirt with a forest background and wood nymph on it. His hair was spiked and he hoped he'd be able to at least keep his appearances up during his travels.
Oz knocked on the door to the lab and was greeted by the professor.
"Oz, yes I've been expecting you. I've got your pokemon just inside" he said and lead Oz inside where there was a table with a few pokeballs, a pokedex, a potion, and a single pokeball that had been set aside especially. Oz ran over and picked up the special pokeball without another word, then tossed it to the floor and in a flash of light a growlithe appeared. Oz smiled and the growlithe barked happily.
"I'll call you...Ember!" Oz declared with a smile and growlithe barked agian and wagged it's tail.
"I take you two will get along well then" Oak said, smiling as well and Oz nodded, then collected the rest of his things form the table.
"Let's go Ember" he said, then thanked Oak with a handshake and walked out the door to begin his lifelong journey.

Demetri woke to the sound of his alarm clock buzzing its usual annoying buzz. When he looked at the alarm clock he freaked upon seeing the time. He had already hit the snooze button a couple of times and was extremely late for his meeting with Oak.
He got dressed in a designer shirt with a button down over it and a pair of worn pants with a couple holes in them, along with a pair of brand new combat boots to match the outfit. He grabbed his messenger bag as he kissed his mum going out the door to head to Professor Oak's Lab.
When he arrived the place was about dead, with exception of his regular lab aides.
"Professor! I'm sorry I'm late! Did you save the pokemon I asked for?" Demetri yelled as he ran to Oak who was standing in the back of his lab.
"Of course," replied Oak with his usual grin. "It's right here!"
"Thanks a lot Professor," he said as he picked up the pokeball and placed it in his bag's side pocket.
"I'm sure you two will get along quite well. Oh! And before I forget, here is you pokedex. Fill it up with all the pokemon you can!" Oak said as he handed over a small red device to Demetri.
"Yessem!" Demetri replied as he took the device and made for the door. His excitement was overflowing now. He couldn't wait to get out and on his own for his great adventure.
When he was out the door he took out a small case and the pokeball Oak had given him. He opened the case revealing many different earring sets. He pulled one out that was in the shape of a water drop and threaded it into his ear. He then took the pokeball and released the captured pokemon. A Shellder sat on the ground, facing away from Demetri. It looked confused, unsure of what to do.
"Hey! Shellder!" Demetri called. The Shellder then turned quickly and jumped into his arms. "Hmm. You need a name. I think Curata will work. Don't you think?" Curata unfolded its tongue and gave Demetri a large lick to the face and also what could be taken as a smile. "Alright then. Looks like you're happy with it. Now let's go!" He should as he took off towards the closest path to the next city.

Oz had run into a wild pidgey on his way to Viridian city. He'd battled it briefly before capturing it.
"Well now, no need to keep you cooped up" he said, releasing pidgey "you need a name...how does Falco sound?" he asked the pidgey and it gave a caw in response before landing on his shoulder. He smiled at Ember, then at Falco, this was a very good start to his journey. He looked behind him and spotted someone approaching from Pallet town. He decided to wait, wondering if it was another new trainer. He may want to battle, which would be fine with him. He may also want to travel together for a bit, which was also fine. He had been slightly worried about traveling alone for a long period of time.

Demetri followed up the path not finding a single pokemon. He was a little upset to find none. He wanted to add to his collection and make Oak a happy camper, not like he wasn't already though.
Instead of spotting a pokemon, he caught sight of what looked to be another trainer. Demetri didn't know what to expect from him. He saw the two pokemon around him and knew he would be at a disadvantage in a battle so that was out of the question.
"Hey you! Mr. I got two pokemon!" He yelled at the other trainer as he ran to catch up with him. He got there and noticed the Growlithe and Pidgey. "I guess you just came from Pallet Town too?"

"I did indeed, I'm Oz, and these are Ember and Falco" he said, indicating each of his pokemon in turn. He looked at the shellder that was with the youth.
"Is that your first pokemon? It's cute" he said with a smile at the shellder and the youth.
"You're heading to Viridian right? Care to go together?" he asked, checking the path around them. He didn't see any more pokemon around them, or hear anything. He was a little disappointed, he knew that there were wild rattata around here.

"The name is Demetri. Pallet Town obviously." he said with an eye roll.
"And this is Curata." he said as he looked to his pokemon.
"You are correct though. Heading to Viridian on my little quest like so many before me. Wouldn't mind accompanying you either. Better than walking alone and not having some actual conversation." He said, smiling ear to ear.
"You've already got a head start on me though." Demetri sighed as he started back on the trail.

Oz nodded, walking along side Demetri, with Ember at his other side. He nodded, holding onto the straps of his backpack and looking up at the sky.
"Yeah, I was wondering how I would keep myself going insane on this quest, with no one to talk to but my pokemon who can't say anything but their own names" he said with a laugh, then glanced around them.
"So, I'm guessing you're going on the gym challenge thing?" he asked, looking over at Demetri for a moment before going back to inspecting his surroundings.

Demetri gave a laugh at Oz's joke. Made sense enough, but people somehow seemed to manage to understand what they were saying out of all their yelping.
"More or less. Going to try and get all my badges to mainly show qualification so I can really be a pokemon breeder. I know the our first gym leader dreams to be one so maybe I can get some advice from him." He said as he though about the squint eyed gym leader.
"How about you? You going for it too?" He asked as he tossed Curata in the air lightly and then catching her again.

"Yeah, hoping to beat the Elite four eventually but really I'm just trying to catch up to my dad. He was a great trainer, explored a ton of places, even went overseas for awhile to train there. I haven't seen him in awhile, though he keeps sending us money every month to help us get by" he said with a sigh, wondering if he'd encounter his father on his journey.
"Not to say I'm only doing this to find my dad, I love pokemon" he added to make sure his new friend didn't think him strange or anything.

"Nah it's alright. Least your not some person looking to team up with someone and capture tons of pokemon and suck at it!" He joked a bit.
"It's really nothing big though. Least you have goals."

"I suppose, and so do you, which is good. Helps us do the things we need to do in the present to achieve them. If not I'd probably just wander around catching pokemon that catch my interest and not really making anything of myself" he said with a sigh and a small smile, it did sound like a bit of a good life.
"One good thing about going on this journey, I'll stay in shape" he said with a sigh, despite working out in preparation for this he was already feeling a bit tired after walking all this way. He looked back, he couldn't even see Pallet town behind him.
"Think we'll get to Viridian today?" he asked, checking the sky, it was still morning as far as he could tell.
