(I'm assuming that the knitter's nook is where each person makes a thread for themselves, and discussion threads go here. If I'm wrong, I apologize.)

My question is simple:
What is the most difficult think you've crafted? Why was it difficult? Was it worth it in the end?

I think that the most difficult thing I've made so far were these fingerless gloves. (Ravelry link)
They were not only my first colorwork project, but my first time having to change balls of yarn in the middle of a project, second time knitting in the round, first time picking up stitches, and my first time making anything like a thumb gusset. (They were only my Third project overall, after a hat and a headband.)

They were ridiculous worth it. They were a Christmas present for my younger cousin, and she adores them. Every time I've seen her since (even when I run into her unexpectedly) she's wearing them. I'm also super confident with colorwork now, and a lot of projects that I assumed would be really hard don't look so bad!

I think mine might be the fingerless gloves I am working on. They only go up to my elbow, and have six mini cables on them. My first colorwork hat was pretty intense to. I still have the second one I made. <3

I love the fingerless gloves with the mitten tops that can go on/off... those are nifty because you can have your fingers free or keep them warm!

Hmm... I think the most complex stuff I've done was Barbie stuff. I've been making stuff from the stickatil site and they have some intricate patterns there. Some of the Barbie patterns are three pages long, for one item! Also, a lot of patterns don't mention if you work in the round or whatever. Some, I've guessed because they said (5 dpns) or something. This one I'm working on now... it looks like you start at the top but I can't see how you knit in the straps (strap-sleeved dress). If it doesn't become evident when I make it, I'll see how it looks without or add them in myself at the end. It'll work, I'm sure... I'm just happy they translated them to English... there's like five or so languages they're in!

Ok, so I definitely have to update my answer. >.<

Earlier today I cast on my first lace project, which also happens to be my first shawl. I don't know if there's a mistype in the pattern, or if I can't read, but I just can't make it go! Argh!

With lace, I've found that more difficult, higher stitch count patterns are fine. But give me a 4-5 stitch repeat and I screw it up all. the. time. xd

Yeah, it might not engage your brain enough and it starts to wander, causing you to not pay attention and just go in zombie mode... I've done that before lol

I'm currently knitting a cool looking pair of pants, that have cargo pockets, from one of those "easy" "free take one" patterns you find in the yarn section. Problem is you have to read the pattern about 5 times before you can figure out what they are telling you to do, and then knit what they want you to do, NOT what they say to do. I've torn it out at least 5 times, trying to get it right. Been working on it off & on for over a month (threw it down in disgust more than once!). Have finally gotten past the crotch shaping, and am doing the inseam on the left leg (you start at the waist & go downwards).
Second leg will be MUCH easier, and faster - I've been writing the corrections on the pattern...lol
