I'm the fanatic friend. I've seen the new episodes. The episodes are okay. I can't really judge Matt Smith yet. He did have some great lines though. The new writers...eh. I love Moffat's style, but there are some things that didn't add up. Like, how did Amy know the Doctor was really old? That wasn't really brought up.

I feel quite optimistic about Matt Smith so far, he seems to be doing well, regardless of disadvantages such as David Tennant's popularity, the fact that he was relatively unknown, etc... I have the feeling he might even surpass David Tennant, in terms of popularity. But that's just my opinion.

Maybe she just figured it out by comparing him to the Star Whale.

It's odd to see that when the new Doctor comes in he's suddenly the best Doctor ever and the others sucked...or at least that's what I'm getting. I mean for a long Time People said Tome Baker was the best out of all the Doctors. Peter was also one of the best but now it's like those who liked David are turning on him saying now he wasn't that good...and I'm just really confused about that. Are we comparing him against the new guy or do people really only go with trends and follow other when someone get popular and say oh I like him too?

Me and my girlfriend are huge fanatics. We just watched Eleventh Hour and I have to say that I am really digging Matt Smith. I was really hoping he'd be likable since he has big shoes to fill, but was unsure since I loved Tennant so much.
I've always been a fan of Moffat's episodes and so far he seems to be doing well. Except for the tired rehashing of Cybermen and Daleks, I'm super excited for this season.

I am one of three friends that switch between junkies, fans, and obsessive. The new episodes are enjoyable Thar are a few technical, and plot problems yet, but it is still early in the season. As for Matt Smith I haven't made up my mind on him yet.

I have one junkie friend pirate , and share with others ninja . . . I've enjoyed the two new eps so far (in spite of big plot holes, etc.). I've been a fan so frickin' long, this is like my (counts fingers) 8th Doctor--plus I saw all of the ancient ones on cable in college--so it's kinda hard for me to say "favorite". I kinda take the long view, that this is the story of one guy (a very mentally unstable guy! lol ) who goes through phases where he allows different aspects of his personality to surface. As fat as simple "Matt versus David," well, it's too soon to tell. I mean, obviously, David wins the hottie contest, as Matt looks like he was slapped upside the jaw a few times with a frying pan (a friend's description). But of course Tom Baker is my all-time favorite, if I have to pick one, and he was ugly as a bucket of monkey butts. So looks are not really in it. As far as characterization (did I spell that right?) goes, we'll see. I liked Matt in "11th Hour" better than David in "Waters of Mars" and "End of Time", but then I really hated the way the Doctor spun out from marginally depressed to full-on misery-guts to stark, raving in-your-face manic in those two eps. When he was with Donna, David's Doctor was AWESOME. With Rose, he was a smidge too hormonal for my tastes. With Martha he was a bit too "will I/won't I tap the rebound girl, or will I just cry a lot?" And alone he just cracked. None of this is any negative reflection on David's ability as an actor, of course--it actually means he's good enough to take any script he's given and go where it needs to go. And only time (and future scripts) will tell where Matt's portrayal is going.

I like Matt Smith. I would definitely say that he's on par with Baker and Tennant. As far as Amy knowing that he's really old? I'm just going to assume that he told her on the Tardis, sometime between the end of first episode and the beginning of the second.
And if one more person insults the Daleks, I'm going to E*X*T*E*R*M*I*N*A*T*E their a**.

Matt Smith = Teenager David Tennant. I first saw him on BBC America DW Episode The Beast, I hated him :s But then I went to my torrents and got the first episodes I like him alot despite he looks like a child, I dont like Amy Pond she looks like a harlot trying to get in his pants D:< Why do they all want to get in his pants! But thats how I feel about any new companion, except Donna she was the best! I miss her crying
Amy Pond will grow on me in time, I am just nerd raging cause I miss DoctorDonna.
Edit: To the poster above me, I am sorry but the Daleks and Cybermen are too over done sad I want some new enemys like the nightmere child! Or hell even an episode about the time war get to see whats going on!
