I think the things outlined in this article are true and simultaneously sad.

Myth #1- So what if the gap is wider, that doesn't change the fact that our poor are still far wealthier than the poor in the countries with the smaller gaps. It makes me think of Margaret Thatcher's response to the similar statement with "The gap has grown wider, but every class has become more wealthy. You'd rather the poor were poorer, so long as the rich were less rich." Myth #2 - Are we really going to base how well our entire health care system works, off of the infant mortality rate. Myth #3 - but look at what we call "poor". Most "poor" people in the united states have a color t.v., a microwave, a washer and dryer, an oven, ect. most poor in other countries can only dream of having as much. Myth #5 -Why is it a problem we don't pay people to be out of work?
I couldn't bear reading any more.

Kaim Arouet So what does this video prove? Just that the left in the UK were throwing a up in arms because the rich were getting richer, but forgot that the "poor" are were also much better off.

I guess you only read the header, the article mentions that the poorest 10% are poorer still than other countries lowest 10%

Isn't that because immigrants pouring into the UK start with very little, and get counted as "the poor"? Also, for the native poor, is it really because they truly have no access to services, or because they don't/cannot take advantage of them?

I think right now we are in a state of so much change it is not a good time to judge where America is right now. When the change is over, wether it be more socialist or not, that is the time to judge how well we stand amongst other countries in the world. I am not taking either side at this moment.
