He'd been alone for so long... How long had it been since he'd slept with a girl? Even an ugly one? A long time... His heart longed for the beautiful, intoxicating femme-scent as he curled around himself at night, all alone.

But then again, he was never alone.

For the most part, Belial's life was normal. He was a calm wolf, confident in his abilities to hunt and fight, just like any other strapping young male. He liked to consider himself peaceful, even, for the most part. So what, he didn't get along with other boys, especially when there was a female involved? And so what, he was a tad possessive of the girls he picked up? And so what if he lied to get his way? It didn't matter too much to him. He was still strong, still capable. He just wasn't...completely sane.

Well, he was. The Demon was not. His lips wrinkled at the idea of his alter, the little voice in the back of his head that mocked him, taunted him and overall tormented him. That voice gave him nightmares, bloody ones. That voice also had the power to make him...a little impulsive. Or was it compulsive? He wasn't sure... He just didn't like it.

"Like it or not, here I am," Demon purred in his ear. Belial flattened his ears and continued to pace. He needed to get laid...

It had been the longest time since Liriel had even had felt the need to step foot outside of her pack lands. It had been almost a year now since had last been fully free, without the nagging nuisance of pups nipping at her heels. Finally her spawn were becoming more independent, all of them now seeking their own paths on their way to adulthood. For the first time in a while she felt free again.

Today...was a good day.

Liriel laid out on a rock in the warming spring sun, drying herself after a symbolic cleansing in the river just outside her pack's domain. It was unusual for her to bask in the sun, as she typically kept to the shadows, but she felt good, and nowadays the masked femme rarely gave a damn about anything other than that.

Her mind drifted as she gazed down from her perch at the glossy water running below, noting her own reflection with a thoughtful smirk.

After everything she had been through, all the trials, hardships, heartache and pain, she still saw herself as she used to. She was still beautiful, her coat still held its sheen, her eyes had regained their luster, the fire that had almost been stamped out. Her restless stalking around the Reign of Terror's lands had slimmed her down, back to the lithe, graceful frame she remembered having before. She couldn't help but smile, her old, calculating, twisted smile. She was herself again...

It looks like I'm back in the game, after all..

She visibly relaxed and yawned, at ease from her satisfaction as she closed her eyes. Her ears pricked this way and that from time to time, and her nose caught the scent of another in the air. Her eyes momentarily opened as she lay stretched out, slight irritation showing itself in those golden orbs as she turned them to the direction of the disturbance. Any wolf that would come near the Reign of Terror was either foolish or a possible threat, but Liriel did not budge from her perch. She just waited, confident she would have the advantage of being on higher ground.

Let them come...

"It seems you'll be having company here shortly." The Demon's voice in his ear was husky, rough. Intimidating. Belial snapped at the air, as if to ward him off. Oh yeah. He was totally sane. Any girl would fall head over heels for him. He snorted at the sarcasm in his mind and kept moving. But he kept his eyes peeled for this so-called 'company'. If he knew one thing, the Demon knew more than he did. And he also didn't lie.

And, sure enough, up ahead sunbathing on a rock like she owned it and the whole entire forest surrounding it, was a lithe (and might he add, freaking beautiful) femme. Belial stood there in the shadows for many moments, the Demon laughing at him. Belial growled and strutted forwards. Tail flagging the air, his head held high, ears and eyes focused on the girl -- no, woman, he corrected himself -- he offered his most charming of smiles. "Hello there, gorgeous." His own voice sounded so much like the Demon's, rough and full of soft gravel. He liked to think it was roguish.

"You're crazy." Demon chuckled.

"Screw off," he said. He didn't realize that he'd uttered it outloud until the beautiful goddess met his eyes. He laughed nervously. "Don't mind me."

Her amber eyes widened only for a split second as the striking male emerged from the shadows, immediately gaining her attention. Evil and stony as she usually was, there was a 'normal' part of herself buried deep down that got a bit weak-kneed at the sight of a hunky guy. She almost liked it, though she would never admit it to herself.

Her ears swiveled again at his words, taking in the roughness of his voice. It wasn't grating, no, but it was just enough to ruffle the fur at the back of her neck and give her shivers. It was rare that a voice alone could disrupt her calm, and that she liked.

There's something special about this one..

Slowly she rose into a bowing stretch before standing up on her rocky perch, not keen on giving up her advantage of higher ground just yet. He interested her, certainly, but she wasn't about to let her guard down, not yet. After all, the last time she was overconfident in her own defenses did not go well. Her eyes narrowed at his seemingly random insult, and her head tilted to one side as she studied him, perplexed by his strange mannerisms. Soon enough, curiosity gave way to tactics.

"Who is it that you speak to, stranger..?" she said, slowly guiding herself down from her rock, her eyes upon him at all times, piercing in their gaze. With each step she took on a quiet boldness, her train of thought twisting onward, trying to gain insight into this handsome male's mind. She smirked almost impishly and continued, "Spirits on your shoulder..? Little voices? Tiny things I cannot see?" She paused a careful distance from him, her voice playfully chastising, "For surely it was not I you told to..'screw off'..mm?"

She gave him a suggestive smile and eased her hips to the earth, watching him intently. Something in the back of her mind told her that she and this mystery man might have a few things in common..

Your move..

Belial watched the femme, ears flicking back for a moment, then pinning as she asked him that question. Here we go again. Time to scare off another possible girlfriend. He grimaced a little, then sat down, ignoring the Demon cackling in the back of his head, urging him on with little pokes and prods to his brain.

"No spirits, darling. No faeries, no pixies, no imps. Hell, I wish it were faeries taunting me." His voice held a tinge of bitterness to it. He took a deep breath. "Tell her what a kook you really are, Belial," the Demon purred, breathy in his ear. "Scare her away... Or maybe you'd like to tuck your tail and just run? Running is fun." As if on impulse, Belial's front legs stiffened, as if he were getting ready to sprint away. With deep breaths, he calmed himself.

"No. Not you. Never you," his voice turned up softly, a smile at his lips. "You see... There's this Demon in my head. He controls all the little urges. He is always there, ever present..." He let a low growl rumble up his throat, his milky gaze falling upon her. "And you... You are beautiful. What are you doing on your own? No suitor to woo you?" The way he said it suggested he could be that suitor if she so chose.

Her ears perked and a knowing smile pulled at her maw as she listened to his explanation, locking eyes with him once again. Liriel was no stranger to voices and evil little thoughts running through her head, urging her to do things. A male with the same problem did not spook her away, rather it made him all that much more interesting to her..a kindred spirit, perhaps.

"I like to think we all have our own..inner demons..", she purred, smiling as she looked him all over now, "However..some of us were unfortunate enough to get the chatty ones.." She laughed darkly and adjusted her posture, relaxing somewhat.

Her demeanor changed again, however, when he asked of her suitor. Her eyes darkened and her body stiffened as thoughts of Caydenn ran through her head. She quickly shook her head to try and rid herself of the thoughts, though her body remained taut. I'm over this.. she thought Don't scare him off with your baggage..If Caydenn ever comes back he'll get his punishment then..hell, maybe this guy would enjoy ripping him to pieces with me... She relaxed somewhat, but her fur was still slightly bristled at the neck.

"I've had no suitors..no..proper suitors anyhow.." she turned her dark gaze back to him, giving him a wry smile " I did not want him like he seemed to want me..but he didn't care" she danced around the issue now, not wanting to scare him off with her sob story, not all of it yet, anyhow " Now he's gone..and I'll be glad to never see his retched hide again, for it seems I have better company."

She worked up another charming smile and looked his way. "What is it that you call yourself, stranger..?"

He watched her like a hawk watches prey, eyes zeroing in on her, watching her facial expressions especially. Gods, she was gorgeous... What a shame. He counted down in his head, waiting for her to excuse herself and leave quickly, but it never happened and it puzzled him. With a quizzical smile, he listened to her explanation. So she had a Demon too? "How fortunate for you!" Demon laughed, but Belial paid him no attention. "Oh, if only he were JUST chatty, all'd be good. But he's a downright p***k." He snorted for good measure.

Then her posture changed, becoming nervous, becoming...something he couldn't read. Issues, perhaps? Or mental baggage of her own? As she spoke, his jaw slacked, ears pinning back against his head. The Demon merely laughed. "Wow, lookie there. Bellie found himself a victim of abuse!"

"Shut up," he tittered softly, though his hardened expression softened as he stepped hesitantly forwards. He wasn't afraid she would attack him, no. He was more hesitant that, if he was understanding correctly, he didn't want to scare her off. A smile quirked on his lips and his cocky attitude returned. "Better company is right. I would be Belial, named after one of Hell's princes. My name also means "without worth"...fitting, it seems, from a mother such as mine." He snorted again. "And you, beautiful raven?"

"My name is Liriel..and I'm not entirely certain what my name means, or who my parents were, but now I am a lady in the court of the Reign of Terror." She paused for effect, tilting her head gracefully in the direction of their territory. "I believe I am finally finding my place.." She breathed deeply and steadied herself, slightly wary as he moved forward. An amused smile played upon her maw as she looked up to him, studying his almost timid approach. Her fur lost some of its bristle as she slowly let her unpleasant memories fade off. For some stupid reason she felt more at ease around Belial than she thought was wise. Her nerves screamed at her to move, to play keep away, to keep her guard up, but she couldn't help but betray herself. The little voice in her head told her she was stupid to trust anything, even herself, again. Oh..what's the worst that could happen.. she thought, I'll have a second male on my hitlist? More hellspawn? She visibly shuddered there. Alright, that would be terrible, but it didn't kill me before..almost, but not quite..

"You come close to our lands, Belial, what is it that brings you so close to these bloody lands? Most do not simply stumble by our territory by accident, you know.."

Liriel the raven-queen... "I'm sure you're a fine Lady, no matter where you are." He smiled, eyes glancing over her once more. "At least you know your place. That's luck, my friend. I'm without a pack due to...well, the obvious. Most consider me insane. I talk to myself. Sometimes I answer myself." He gave a dark chuckle. He'd been called every name in the book. Kook. Loon. "I've been run from my home because the Demon decided to...do something bad." He didn't elaborate, but in his mind, he recalled the death of that puppy, intestines strewn across the grass and himself, blinking in uncertainty, not remembering a thing. It had been the alpha's son. But that was the past.

Reign of Terror. The name should've sent a chill down his spine had he known that he was trespassing. In a way, he guessed he should've known. The Demon rarely sent him wandering for no good reason. "What, you expect me to join this Reign of Terror, Demon?" He spoke the words aloud, shaking his head before returning his gaze to Liriel. "What does this pack...do?" he asked curiously, head tipping to one side.

"Insanity is subjective, Belial..for most 'sane' wolves seem insane to me! The things they wrap their lives around and place so much importance in..it seems silly to me, but of course we are the ridiculous ones simply because voices choose to whisper in our ears.." She kept her smile as she listened to him, nodding softly in understanding to his plight. To be honest this was only the second time she'd ever had a moment like this with another wolf, one of understanding. She had never felt so disarmed, so...armorless, and she was not sure if she liked it or not. In a way it was a relief not to carry the thick outer shell the was used to carrying with her, but she felt naked without it.

You've gone soft.. her inner voice purred, mind-rotted..declawed, it's only a matter of time before you get..eugh.. affectionate! The voice finished with disgust, spitting out the last word with particular distaste. Liriel shrugged it off silently, determined not to speak back to it. She found solace and distraction in Belial's questions.

"Our pack..is a sort of refuge for wolves such as ourselves.. a court of the vicious, the evil, the twisted.." She stretched a little, shaking out her shoulders before she continued, casting a glance about the surrounding forest. "The Goblin King is the head of our court, and the Lords and Ladies such as myself spread word of our power, spread terror, and collect the tribute of respect our King demands.." She flicked her eyes quickly back to Belial and gave him a devilish grin. "We like to show those goody-goodies that we can cooperate and support each other just as well as they can..that we are a force to be reckoned with."

She tilted her head and watched him closely, curious now to see into his head. "Is that you, handsome one?" she said teasingly, standing back up and coyly striding back to the stream she was seated beside before, "Are you called by such a thing, or is it just the demon..?"

"I'm glad you speak so highly of the insane, Liriel," he laughed softly. "You make me belive that there is hope for me, yet." From her words, he guessed that she, too, had a little niggling voice that whispered naughty things in her ear. They were perhaps cut from the same cloth, the same twisted mind given to them by their creator. He smiled, although it was quite dark as he listened to her speak of her pack.

Reign of Terror... It sounded like you could get yourself killed by joining such a pack. The Goblin King. What a name. We could usurp him with time. The Demon grinned. "You have the brawn and I the brains. And this pretty little lady could be your queen..." He spoke with a delicious glee, images filtering into Belial's mind, images of blood and violence, of snarling wolves and flayed chests. He shook his head and glanced up at Liriel once more, realizing he'd only caught the tail end of what she said.

In turn, the Demon sent him an image of...well, let's just say that the Demon liked the raven queen. Belial wrinkled up his nose, but laying the pretty femme was definitely on his to-do list. With time, he assured his mind. "He likes you," Belial said softly, catching her eye with a grin of his own. "It's not often that we have the same taste in women."

"If there is still hope for me, then there is certainly hope for you," she said, dipping her muzzle down to take a drink from the stream, licking her lips once she had her fill, " We don't seem so different..if I thought badly of you then I would be in a terrible opinion of myself by default.." She slowly settled down beside the stream, gazing into it again thoughtfully.

She truly did think they were uncommonly alike, almost suspiciously so. Maybe you're related..oh wouldn't that be deliciously horrid? the voice cackled, getting all hot and bothered for family..you sick girl, you.. She shook her head lightly and stifled a growl, looking back to Belial once she calmed herself.

No..they weren't related..they couldn't be. His scent was far too different..thank gods. Perhaps they were so similar for a reason, destiny perhaps. Some cosmic alignment fated them to meet today, that must be it! Perhaps great things were meant to come of this meeting..

She smiled deviously at his words still, and her tail slowly swayed, her pleasant mood showing. " Is that so, mm? What does that say..when the two of you agree..?"

He watched her drink from the stream, her every movement entrancing and very poetic, in a strange sort of way. Nothing like him, Belial who bumbled through life one step at a time. Belial who snapped at males when they got too close for comfort, especially with a girl involved. Belial, the liar. He wrinkled his muzzle, but the thoughts and opinions of himself were his own and not the Demon's for once.

Following her, he too began to lap at the cool stream water, glancing up to meet her gaze, his own milky eyes grinning in an ornery fashion, looking quite like the cat who ate the canary. "Oh, we don't often agree... We have two different mindsets, you see. I'm more of a 'do it later unless there's a reward in it for me' kind of guy. He's more like..." He paused, thinking, tipping his head back to eye the clouds -- such beautiful white fluffs they were. Then his gaze was back on her. "A crazy ******** who wants everything now." He laughed heartily, sitting down beside her, their rumps close together. He didn't want to push her away, but he would be damned if he let her get away by not showing her he was interested.

"Do you think I'd fit into your pack, raven?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 08, 2010 8:10 am

Liriel returned his gaze with quiet contemplation, a slight sly smile still playing upon her muzzle. "The fact that you two agree at all is a sign of something, perhaps.." she teased, letting him a little closer.

Her nerves went up in a nervous fire when he settled so close to her, their hips nearly touching as they sat there. It gave her warm shivers, a teasingly pleasant warmth crawling up her spine, though she tried her hardest to fight it. It had been so long.. her one and only experience with a male having been the rape that cursed her with those hellspawn. She hardly remembered how it truly felt, as that b*****d Caydenn had taken her as she lay dreaming of someone else. One side of her flared up in hostility and unease at these new cravings she had, wary of more pain and suffering to follow. Her other side, however.. ached for it. She wanted control this time, she wanted to be awake to feel it all and savor it, find out what it's -really- like. Her tail slowly wagged again, betraying her cold composure just as the skin beneath her purple fur began to blush, hidden by her mask and her coat.

Her demeanor changed again, her outward calm cracking, showing little hints at the firestorm taking place inside. She met his gaze again and spoke with the most composed, silky voice she could muster.

"Mmm... Between the two of you I believe there is certainly enough initiative for you to survive in our pack.. And perhaps enough wickedness and strength to even thrive.."
