Anyone a fan of the Lord of the Rings?

After seeing the first movie, I read the books. I loved both the movies and the books. Although, I will admit I didn't like The Hobbit.

I read the hobbit when I was a kid and liked it. I saw thew animated film and was scared to death fo gollum so then I was afraid to read the others. sweatdrop I read fellowship later in life and really enjoyed it, but I still haven't gotten to the other 2. Though I did read the side stories in silmarillion.

I saw the first new film and really liked it. I didn't get to see the others in the theatre so I decided just to wait and buy all the extended editions on DVD. As of yet though that hasn't happened because I know I haven't had the time to sit down to watch movies for that long.

I'm going to have some free time this summer, I think maybe I should make watching them a project.

I think I didn't care for the Hobbit that much because I had first been exposed to Fellowship. I saw the animated film for it after I watched Fellowship as well. I didn't like it. You're right! It's scary.

My brother read them as a teenager. He wanted me to read them next but Mom wouldn't allow it. (I'm younger.) She was right. I know I wouldn't have liked them as a kid since I didn't get into reading until my adulthood.

I read The Hobbit and all three of the Lord of the Ring novels when I was about eight. I wasn't reading them because of the movie or anything like that. I was reading them because they were my Dad's favourite books as a kid and he had just passed away so I wanted to read them.
I'm glad that I did though. I loved them to death. Not long after I made my mom get me all three of the movies on DVD and I watched them back-to-back until well after midnight.
