It had seemed an eternity that she was in that place. It was dark, always dark, but not frightening. Everything was still. Sometimes she could hear murmurs of voices, or think she felt something that wasn't there. Was she dead? Was she asleep? Would she ever leave this place?

Am I...alone?

The voice that used to call out to her from this place was no longer there. No longer there, no longer keeping her bound there. And suddenly, the darkness began to brighten, until it began to hurt her eyes.

Yes, it did hurt her eyes. The sun was shining directly through a window onto her eyes, which slowly opened. It felt as if she looked out through new eyes, in a new body. She was no longer a torn person, but a whole one, waking up after what felt like years of hibernation. How long had it been? Hours? Days? Weeks? Years?

Slowly she rose, sitting upright in the bed, wisteria eyes slowly roving over the blurry room. That's right, wasn't it? Recently she had been a monster, she had...she had died, had she not? She could remember a shadowy figure impaling her with a lance, and embracing her as she died....

Was she dead now? She groaned softly and held her head. She had to be alive, somehow, if her head hurt from sleeping for so long.

Haveni had been in -- dare he say it-- Noctis's house. A sacred bachelor's pad where no other girl had stepped into. Noctis's haven. After the 'incident,' responsibility for Haveni had reluctantly fallen to him. After all, nobody knew when she would awaken-- and even if someone had offered to shelter her, Noctis wouldn't have let anyone else do it.

Not that he made the best caretaker.

The room that Haveni had been put in was surprisingly clean. The only evidence of Noctis was his guns that remained on the desk next to her, accompanied with a bowl of water and a damp cloth. He could be heard noisily coming in front what could be assumed as the front door, carrying packs of food, the kind that could be warmed up in five minutes. After all, Noctis wasn't one for cooking. He hadn't expected his guest to awake-- if ever. So he sat himself on his simple wooden chair, sighing as he leaned back, tipping the chair back as he went.

"You'd think that she'd have slept long enough." He muttered to himself, throwing the food onto the table.

That voice...it was familiar, and yet...

Haveni slid her legs over the side of the bed. The room was starting to lose it's blurry state, enough for her to slowly rise. She was dizzy. Oh, so dizzy, but she balanced herself to get to the voice. It'd been complaining about her sleeping...

"I'm not asleep anymore." she spoke softly, her voice weak and dry from misuse. She was leaning against the frame of the door, slouched a little, her eyes leveling on Noctis.

For a moment, she could not remember who this was, but her heart quickly reminded her. Oh, she remembered. She wasn't quite the same, but she remembered him. He had been the imperfect person she had begun to love, before...before....

Before something made her....something else. Her memories were so foggy when it came to that. Did it even matter anymore? A small smile materialized on her face when she met his eyes.

"I'm not asleep anymore."

The soft voice startled Noctis and he fell over in his chair-- almost thinking of it as a dream. A repeated dream. But still on the chair, now in a horizontal position (previous vertical,) he somehow sat in the chair on the ground, in a toppled over "L" shape. Impressive. Very much so. In an idiotic manner only an idiot could appreciate. It was a good thing that everyone had an idiot in them, no matter how small it might be.

He held out his arms wide open for an embrace, obviously expecting Haveni to hug him on the ground.

"Are you absolutely positively sure that you've woken up? No sleep-talking? No drugs? Worst of all, this isn't an illusion by Ruin right? Do you feel okay-- more like, do you feel anything distinctively evil within you that you might want to warn me about before hugging me?"

For a long moment, Haveni stood still, drinking in the image of this man who had toppled in front of her. At first, she didn't know what to feel about him. It was like seeing someone you hadn't seen in years, or had only heard before. But then, slowly, the emotions pieced themselves back together, and a smile melted onto her face.

She took one faltering step towards him, then another, and another, before falling down to her knees and wrapping her arms tightly around him the best that she could in his awkward position on the ground. She didn't know what he meant by an 'illusion by ruin'...the name or idea was not familiar to her anymore, only shadows, dancing in the back of her mind. Only shadows now, and nothing more.

"...Noctis," she murmured, her voice barely audible, as she had her face pressed into the crook of his neck. It was strange to suddenly feel so warm and alive, after being dormant for so long. Why did this make her want to cry?

Noctis seemed at a loss for words, eyes widening. His red an dyellow eyes darted back and forth nervously, just a tiny bit. "Uh. Okay. No warning. Gotcha." No, he didn't really get it. He guessed that Haveni might have been caught up in the moment-- well, girls usually did. Sobbing and all that. Thank god tears weren't falling onto his nice white coated shoulder.

"You should be glad. You're the first girl in this house. It's been awhile-- you thirsty? Hungry? I've got food." He gestured to the table with the scattered groceries and a leftover can of beer that he had been drinking. He wasn't quite sure what to say-- and was babbling really. What do you say in this situation? (If he could have, he would have gone and asked somebody in town.)

The lithe figure clambered off of him, standing slowly upon her barefeet. Noctis seemed almost wary of her, as if she might make an attempt on his life any moment.

She shouldn't have acted out so easily like that, no. She couldn't remember everything that had happened, but she was aware..aware she had somehow done something terrible, something horrible. Her head lowered slightly, eyes looking slightly towards the right. There was a sad smile on her face, the reflection of sorrow also visible in her eyes.

"I am...famished," she murmured. Suddenly it felt strange to make eye contact with him. "There's a lot I don't remember." she said suddenly, staring absent-minded out a window. "But I do know that somehow, I did really, really...terrible things, to...to you, to others. Many others. I wonder if it..." she paused, staring outwards as if it was the most interesting view in the world. "I wonder...if it made you resent me."

A bittersweet laugh bubbled from her lips as she leaned her head against the glass of the window, closing her eyes. "I remember being with you, but being unable to really..'be' with you. All you could see was one side of me. Friendly, naive, foolhardy. I wanted to come out to meet you too, so badly, but I never could....but now, here I am. Finally, you could meet all sides of me, and I wonder if you hate me because of what I had done, what I couldn't control doing. I barely remember the truth behind it, but I know there was a part of me..rotten and full of hate, that caused so many horrible things. Even I don't know if I should resent myself."

No words answered Haveni's long speech. She was pushed to the wall in a fierce embrace, Noctis's hands rubbing her head like a small little girl.

"Stop making it so complicated Haveni. That's like asking if you hate my extremely lustful side. You don't resent me for it-- and I don't hold your stuff against you." He touched his forehead with his own, hands forcing Haveni's downcasted eyes to look up in his own mismatched eyes.

"Let's start over. Hi there stranger, my name's Noctis. What's yours, pretty lady?" He offered his hand and a wide smile, on the floor with Haveni, with a boyish and youthful grin that had rarely been displayed during their brief time period together.

The affection was startling. Sure, it wasn't the first time they'd been in close proximity to each other, but most of that was when he was protecting her, or pulling her close to him, away from another male.

She could get used to this, she thought. It ignited a feeling like a fluttering warmth in her chest. She smiled, slowly and smally at first, but it grew, until her eyes finally reflected that smile. Her arms wrapped tightly around him in a fond embrace.

"Haveni...I'm a healer from a village embraced by the forest, I don't like to wear shoes, I like floofs because they are so fluffy, and..." she paused her ramblings, taking a deep breath as she closed her wisteria colored eyes off from his for a moment. "...I really love you, Noctis." she breathed.

Noctis didn't introduce himself first, instead, he embraced her tightly like one had found a cute doll.

"Hogosh, youaresocute!" His words were scrambled but somehow coherent as he buried himself into Haveni's shoulder, pressing a kiss to her ear. "Nice to meet you Haveni. I'm Noctis, a womanizer who just gave up his womanizing life for you! Isn't it quite the shame?" He grinned, one hand buried in Haveni's thick white hait, with a tightness that implied he wouldn't be letting her go.
